Today's Devotional
"Your Loved One's Legacy Lives On"
Scripture (KJV)
"The righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance."— Psalm 112:6
Devotional Thought
One of the greatest fears many people have after losing someone they love is that, with time, the memories will begin to fade.
You may wonder if people will stop speaking their name.
If future generations will know who they were.
If their life will one day be forgotten.
But friend, love leaves a legacy that time cannot erase.
Your loved one's influence is woven into the fabric of your life.
Perhaps they taught you to pray.
Perhaps they showed you what kindness looked like.
Perhaps they made you laugh when life was hard.
Perhaps they worked quietly behind the scenes, never seeking recognition, yet touching countless lives.
Those gifts did not disappear when they entered Heaven.
They continue through you.
Every time you repeat one of their favorite sayings...
Every time you prepare a family recipe...
Every time you show compassion because they showed compassion to you...
Their legacy lives on.
Psalm 112 reminds us that "The righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance."
God never forgets His children.
He knows every act of love.
Every sacrifice.
Every prayer.
Every moment of faithfulness.
And He remembers.
Today, don't be afraid to speak their name.
Tell their stories.
Share the lessons they taught you.
Laugh about the happy memories.
Smile at the photographs.
And if tears come, let them come.
Those tears are reminders that you were blessed to love someone whose life made a difference.
One day, in the presence of our Savior, memories will become reunions.
Until then, honor their legacy by living a life that reflects the love they poured into yours—and the love Christ continues to pour into you each day.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the precious lives of those who have gone before us. Thank You for the love, wisdom, and faith they shared with us. Help us to honor their legacy by living with kindness, compassion, and hope. When we miss them, remind us that You hold them safely in Your presence and that one day, because of Jesus, we will be together again.
In Jesus' precious Name,
Amen.
