Rest, Reflect, and Refill Your Creative Well

Scripture:

Matthew 11:28 (KJV)

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Psalm 23:2-3 (KJV)

"He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul..."

Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

Another week has come to a close.

Perhaps you've made great progress.

Perhaps you struggled to find time to write.

Maybe inspiration flowed freely.

Or maybe the words came slowly.

Whatever kind of week you've had, God never intended for you to carry every burden alone.

As authors, we often place tremendous pressure on ourselves.

We want to finish the book.

Meet the deadline.

Grow the audience.

Accomplish every goal.

And before long, the joy of writing can begin to feel like a weight instead of a blessing.

But Jesus lovingly reminds us to come to Him.

Not after everything is finished.

Not after we've accomplished enough.

But right now.

Exactly where we are.

Psalm 23 reminds us that the Good Shepherd restores our souls.

Sometimes the most productive thing an author can do is simply pause.

To rest.

To pray.

To spend time with family.

To enjoy God's creation.

To read something that inspires.

To laugh.

To breathe.

And to remember that our worth is not measured by how much we produce.

We are loved because we belong to Him.

This weekend, give yourself permission to rest without guilt.

Trust that God is still working.

He is preparing opportunities.

He is growing your gifts.

And He is writing beautiful things behind the scenes, even when you are still.

The story isn't a race.

And you do not have to carry it alone.

The Author of your life walks beside you through every chapter.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for carrying me through another week. Thank You for being my strength when I am weary and my peace when life becomes overwhelming. Restore my soul and renew my spirit. Help me to rest in Your presence and trust You with every dream and every chapter. Thank You for walking beside me and reminding me that I never travel this journey alone. In Jesus' name, Amen.
