🌵🍲 Chili Champions & Backyard Cooks 🍲🌵Chuckwagon Recipe of the Day – Thursday, March 19, 2026🔥 Cowboy Sweet & Smoky BBQ Beef Skillet 🔥

Good morning, 🤠Today’s chuckwagon favorite is packed with bold flavor, a touch of sweetness, and that smoky cowboy goodness. This is the kind of meal that comes together fast but tastes like it’s been cooking all day.

Perfect for a busy day, and even better for feeding a hungry crowd!

🥩🔥 Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 tablespoon oil or bacon grease

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite)

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 can (15 oz) baked beans (do not drain)

  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • Optional: pinch of chili flakes for heat

🔥 Chuckwagon Cooking Instructions

1️⃣ Heat a cast iron skillet over medium heat.

2️⃣ Add oil and brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess grease if needed.

3️⃣ Add diced onion and garlic, cooking until softened and fragrant.

4️⃣ Stir in BBQ sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and paprika.

5️⃣ Add the baked beans (with sauce) and mix everything together well.

6️⃣ Let the mixture simmer for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and rich.

🥄 Chuckwagon Serving Tip

Serve this hearty skillet with:

  • Toasted buns (for cowboy sloppy joes) 🍔

  • Cornbread

  • Or right out of a bowl with a big spoon 🤠

Campfire Tip

Cook this low over coals and let it slowly thicken—the longer it simmers, the deeper the flavor gets.
