"Love Is Remembered in the Little Things"

🌿 Devotional Thought

Sometimes grief isn't stirred by the big moments.

Sometimes it's the little things.

A favorite recipe written in familiar handwriting.

A well-worn Bible.

The scent of a favorite perfume.

An old coffee mug.

A holiday decoration.

A song that instantly brings back a treasured memory.

It is often the smallest things that remind us of the people we miss the most.

And perhaps that is one of God's sweetest gifts.

Memories don't always arrive with great fanfare.

Sometimes they quietly knock on the door of our hearts and remind us that love is still there.

Today, I want to encourage you to treasure those little reminders.

Don't be afraid to pull out the family photographs.

Don't be afraid to cook their favorite meal.

Don't be afraid to tell their stories.

Speak their name.

Share the funny memories.

Remember the traditions they loved.

The little things matter because they represent a life that mattered.

James reminds us that every good and perfect gift comes from God.

The people we have loved are among those precious gifts.

Even though we wish we had more time, we can still be grateful for the moments we were given.

Grief often causes us to focus on what has been lost.

Gratitude reminds us of what was gained.

You gained laughter.

You gained memories.

You gained lessons.

You gained love.

And those gifts can never be taken away.

Today, instead of focusing on the empty places, spend a few moments thanking God for the beautiful little things that continue to keep your loved one's memory alive.

One day, our faith will become sight, and the memories we treasure today will become a joyful reunion in the presence of Jesus.

Until then, cherish every precious reminder.

They are evidence that love still lives within your heart.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the precious people You have placed in our lives.

Thank You for the memories that continue to bring comfort, even when they bring tears.

Help us recognize the beauty found in the little reminders that surround us each day.

Teach us to focus not only on our loss but also on the blessings You have given us through the people we love.

Fill our hearts with gratitude, strengthen our faith, and remind us that Your love continues to carry us through every season of grief.

Thank You for the promise of Heaven and the hope of being reunited with those we love.
