“When the Seasons Change, God Remains the Same”

Friday — Remember the Love

Saturday — Give Yourself Grace

Sunday — Trust God With the Season Ahead

Good morning, sweet friends!

As we enter the last weekend of September, the seasons are beginning to change. The mornings are getting cooler, the leaves will soon be turning beautiful shades of red, orange, and gold, and before long, the holidays will be upon us.

For some, fall is a favorite season filled with pumpkin spice, cozy blankets, family gatherings, and beautiful memories.

But for those of us walking through grief, a change in seasons can bring something else.

Memories.

Longing.

The realization that another season is beginning without someone we love.

This weekend, I want us to remember something precious:

The seasons may change. Our lives may change. The people sitting around our tables may change. But our Heavenly Father never changes.

Let's spend this weekend remembering the love, giving ourselves grace, and trusting God with the season ahead.

đź’ś Remember the Love, Not Just the Loss

📖 Today's Scripture — KJV

“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.”

— Philippians 1:3

🌿 Friday Devotional Thought

Have you ever noticed how certain seasons bring memories rushing back?

The first cool morning.

The smell of something baking in the kitchen.

A favorite fall recipe.

The sound of leaves crunching beneath your feet.

A familiar sweater.

A song playing on the radio.

Suddenly, you're remembering someone you love.

Maybe Momma always decorated for fall.

Maybe Daddy loved sitting outside when the weather cooled down.

Maybe your spouse loved taking drives to see the changing leaves.

Maybe your child loved jumping into piles of leaves or picking out pumpkins.

And now, those same beautiful things can bring tears.

Friend, there is nothing wrong with that.

Sometimes the changing seasons remind us of the people who made those seasons beautiful.

đź’ś Their Life Was More Than Their Goodbye

One of the things grief can do is make the final chapter of someone's life feel bigger than all the chapters before it.

We remember the hospital.

The phone call.

The funeral.

The last conversation.

The day everything changed.

But today, I want to encourage you to remember something else.

Remember how they lived.

Remember their laughter.

Remember the funny things they said.

Remember their favorite foods.

Remember their faith.

Remember the things they taught you.

Remember the ordinary days that became extraordinary memories.

Don't let the day you lost them become the only day you remember.

Their life was a gift.

Their love was a gift.

And those memories deserve to be treasured.

🌷 Keep Their Traditions Alive

Maybe this fall you could make their favorite recipe.

Visit a place they loved.

Share a photograph.

Tell your grandchildren a story about them.

Make a scrapbook.

Write down a memory.

Or simply sit quietly with your coffee and thank God for the time you were given.

You don't have to do everything the way you did before.

You can change traditions.

You can create new ones.

But you can also carry the beautiful parts of yesterday into today.

Remembering is one way we continue honoring a life that mattered.

🙏 Friday Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the beautiful memories we carry of those we love.

As the seasons change, sometimes our hearts become tender with remembrance.

Help us remember more than the goodbye.

Bring to mind the laughter, the love, the ordinary moments, and the blessings we shared.

When memories bring tears, comfort us.

When memories bring smiles, help us receive that joy without guilt.

Teach us to carry forward the love and lessons of those who have gone before us.

Thank You for every precious life that has touched ours.

In Jesus' precious Name,

Amen.

🌻 Friday Grief Support Challenge

Today, finish this sentence:

“One of my favorite fall memories with my loved one is…”

Write it down or share it with someone.

If you feel comfortable, share your memory in the comments so we can remember them together.

đź’ś Friday Reminder

“When the seasons bring memories, don't be afraid to remember. Their life was more than their goodbye, and their love is still part of your story.”

🌿 Give Yourself Grace When Grief Returns

📖 Today's Scripture — KJV

“My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”

— 2 Corinthians 12:9

🌿 Saturday Devotional Thought

Sometimes we think we're doing better.

We've been laughing more.

Getting out of the house.

Enjoying family.

Making plans.

Maybe we even made it through several days without crying.

Then suddenly, grief returns.

A memory catches us off guard.

A photograph appears.

A song plays.

A special date approaches.

Or the changing season reminds us that another year is passing without someone we love.

And we wonder:

“Why am I hurting like this again? I thought I was doing better.”

Friend, please hear this today.

Having a difficult day does not mean you have lost all the progress you've made.

đź’ś Grief Doesn't Follow a Straight Road

Grief is not something we simply finish and put away.

There may be days when you feel peaceful.

Days when you laugh.

Days when you enjoy life.

And days when you miss your loved one so deeply that you can hardly explain it.

All of those days can be part of your journey.

You don't have to apologize for them.

You don't have to explain why a memory still hurts.

And you don't have to pretend you're okay to make other people comfortable.

Give yourself the same grace you would give someone else who was hurting.

🌷 God Is Not Disappointed in Your Tears

I want you to remember something beautiful.

Jesus wept.

John 11:35 gives us those two powerful words:

“Jesus wept.”

Our Savior understands sorrow.

He understands tears.

He understands what it means to stand in the presence of death and feel the pain of loss.

So when you cry, you are not disappointing God.

When you miss someone, you are not failing in your faith.

When you need rest, you are not weak.

Your Heavenly Father understands the heart He created.

🕊️ You Don't Have to Be Strong Every Day

Maybe today you need to cancel a plan.

Maybe you need to have coffee with a friend.

Maybe you need to attend your grief support group.

Maybe you need to sit outside and pray.

Maybe you need to look through photographs.

Maybe you need a quiet afternoon.

Whatever today looks like, remember:

You don't have to earn rest.

You don't have to prove your strength.

You don't have to hide your grief.

Let God meet you exactly where you are.

🙏 Saturday Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Today I pray for the person who thought they were doing better but woke up hurting again.

Lord, remind them that a difficult day does not erase the progress they have made.

Help them stop judging themselves for their tears.

Give them permission to rest.

Give them courage to reach out when they need support.

Remind them that Your grace is sufficient, even when their strength feels small.

Thank You for understanding our hearts.

Thank You for never growing impatient with our grief.

And thank You for walking beside us through every changing season.

In Jesus' precious Name,

Amen.

🌻 Saturday Grief Support Challenge

Today, ask yourself:

“What does my grieving heart need right now?”

Choose one act of care.

  • Spend time with someone you trust.

  • Take a peaceful walk.

  • Rest without guilt.

  • Write in your grief journal.

  • Attend a support group.

  • Pray and read your Bible.

Then remind yourself:

“I am allowed to have difficult days. God's grace is still sufficient.”

đź’ś Saturday Reminder

“A difficult day does not mean you are back at the beginning. It simply means your heart needs a little extra grace today.”

🕊️ Trust God With the Season Ahead

📖 Today's Scripture — KJV

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

— Hebrews 13:8

🌿 Sunday Devotional Thought

As we come to the end of another weekend, my heart is thinking about how quickly time passes.

September is almost over.

October is just around the corner.

Then Thanksgiving.

Christmas.

Another year coming to an end.

And for those of us who have lost someone we love, sometimes the calendar can feel overwhelming.

Another birthday without them.

Another holiday.

Another family gathering.

Another Christmas morning.

Another year when their name is missing from the new family photographs.

Sometimes we find ourselves thinking:

“Lord, how am I going to get through another season without them?”

But today, I want to remind you of something precious.

You don't have to know how you're going to get through every day ahead.

You simply have to trust the One who is already there.

đź’ś The Seasons Change, but Jesus Never Does

Hebrews 13:8 reminds us:

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

What a promise!

The same Jesus who held you through the funeral will be with you through the holidays.

The same Jesus who comforted you during those first difficult nights will be with you when another anniversary arrives.

The same Jesus who helped you take your first steps after loss will continue walking beside you.

Life changes.

Families change.

Traditions change.

Seasons change.

But Jesus Christ never changes.

🌷 You Can Make New Memories Without Leaving Anyone Behind

As the holidays approach, perhaps you're wondering what to do.

Should you continue the old traditions?

Should you change them?

Should you decorate?

Should you attend the gathering?

Should you make their favorite recipe?

There is no one right answer for every grieving family.

Some traditions may bring comfort.

Others may feel too difficult this year.

Give yourself permission to make thoughtful choices.

You can honor your loved one while creating new memories.

You can leave room for their memory without leaving your entire life empty.

You can treasure yesterday while allowing God to bless today.

Continuing to live does not mean you have stopped loving.

🕊️ There Is Still Hope Ahead

Sometimes grief makes tomorrow feel frightening.

We don't know what the future will look like.

We don't know how certain days will feel.

But we know who holds tomorrow.

And as Christians, we have an even greater hope.

Revelation 21:4 reminds us that there is coming a day when God will wipe away every tear.

No more death.

No more sorrow.

No more crying.

No more pain.

What a glorious promise!

Until then, we keep walking.

We keep loving.

We keep remembering.

We keep sharing the hope of Jesus.

And we trust that the God who carried us through yesterday will not abandon us tomorrow.

🙏 Sunday Prayer

Heavenly Father,

As we prepare for another week and another changing season, I bring You every grieving heart.

Lord, some are already worrying about the holidays.

Some are facing birthdays and anniversaries.

Some are wondering how they will make it through another year without someone they love.

Remind us that we do not have to carry the entire future today.

You are already there.

Help us treasure the beautiful memories of yesterday.

Give us grace for today.

And teach us to trust You with tomorrow.

Thank You that although everything around us may change, Jesus Christ remains the same.

Thank You for Your promises.

Thank You for Your presence.

Thank You for the hope of Heaven.

In Jesus' precious Name,

Amen.
