šŸ“– January Bible Study — New Beginnings in Christ Day 2 – January 2nd, 2026: Letting Go of the Past to Embrace God’s Call

šŸ•Šļø Key Scripture (KJV):ā€œNo man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.ā€ā€” Luke 9:62

šŸ“š Devotional Thought:

As we move into the second day of the new year, God gently reminds us that forward movement requires forward focus.

It’s natural to glance back—to old habits, old wounds, old failures, or even old successes. But Jesus teaches that when we fix our eyes behind us, it becomes difficult to walk steadily into what God has prepared ahead.

Looking back doesn’t always mean longing for sin.Sometimes it means holding onto:• regret that still stings• guilt that has already been forgiven• seasons God has already closed• comfort zones God is asking us to leave

Jesus isn’t harsh in Luke 9:62—He’s protective. He knows that the future He has for us requires clarity, commitment, and trust. When our hands are on the plow and our eyes are forward, God can guide us safely and purposefully.

The new year is God’s invitation to release what wasĀ so we can fully receive what will be.

You are not being asked to forget the lessons of the past—You are being asked not to live there.

Jesus is calling you onward. He is shaping something new.And He promises to walk with you every step of the way.

šŸ“– Daily Bible Reading — January 2nd:Genesis 3–4(A reminder of how looking back, disobedience, and misplaced focus affect the journey—and how God still offers grace and purpose.)

šŸ™ Prayer Prompt:

Lord, help me release anything from my past that keeps pulling my focus backward.Give me strength to trust You fully and courage to walk forward in obedience.Fix my eyes on You and the future You are preparing for me.

āœļø Reflection Questions:

• What has God already forgiven or healed that I still struggle to release?• Where might I be looking back instead of trusting God ahead?• What does it look like for me to move forward with confidence today?

✨ Encouragement for Today

God never asks you to go forward alone. He goes before you.He walks beside you.And He strengthens you from within.

The past is behind you.The future is ahead. And Jesus is leading the way.
