January 4th, 2026: Walking Forward in Obedience
šļø Key Scripture (KJV):āThy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.āā Psalm 119:105
š Devotional Thought:
As the new year unfolds, God reminds us that faith is not just believingāit is walking.
Psalm 119:105 tells us that Godās Word lights our path, but notice something important: a lamp shows only enough light for the next step, not the entire journey. God often leads us this way on purpose.
Obedience means trusting God with the step directly in front of usāeven when we canāt see the whole road ahead.
The Christmas story itself was a journey of obedience.Joseph obeyed when God told him to take Mary as his wife.Mary obeyed when she said, āBe it unto me according to thy word.āThe shepherds obeyed when they went to see the Savior immediately.
None of them had every answer. But each one took the next step.
January 4th reminds us that obedience is not about perfectionāitās about willingness. Itās about choosing to follow Godās Word daily, letting it guide our decisions, shape our character, and direct our future.
When we walk forward in obedience, God provides the light we needāright when we need it.
š Daily Bible Reading ā January 4th:Genesis 7ā8(A picture of obedience and trust as Noah follows God through the storm and into new beginnings.)
š Prayer Prompt:
Lord, guide my steps by Your Word.Help me walk in obedience even when the way feels uncertain.Teach me to trust You with each step forward, knowing You are lighting my path.
āļø Reflection Questions:
⢠What step of obedience is God asking me to take right now?⢠Am I waiting for clarity before obedience instead of trusting God?⢠How can I let Godās Word guide my daily decisions more intentionally?
⨠Encouragement for Today
You donāt have to see the whole pathāYou just have to trust the One lighting the way.
Walk forward.God is leading. š
