Thrifted Window Frame → Beautiful Fall Home DĆ©cor

Happy Monday, crafting friends! šŸ’œ

Can you believe we are beginning the last few days of September? šŸ‚

Today we're going treasure hunting for something I absolutely love finding at thrift stores, flea markets, estate sales, and yard sales—an OLD WINDOW FRAME!

You may see chipped paint, scratches, or an old frame that someone no longer wants.

But we see POSSIBILITIES!Ā šŸ˜

We're transforming that forgotten window into beautiful fall home décor filled with sunflowers, greenery, ribbon, and a sweet Welcome Fall sign.

And remember—our crafts don't have to cost a fortune to be beautiful!

šŸ›’ WHAT YOU'LL NEED

🪟 Old window framešŸŽØ Chalk or acrylic paint — optionalšŸ–Œļø Paintbrush🧽 Sandpaper — optional, for newer/safe finishes🌻 Faux sunflowersšŸ‚ Fall leaves🌿 Greenery🌾 Wheat or berry stemsšŸŽ€ Burlap, gingham, or plaid ribbon🪵 Small wooden sign or tag🧶 Jute twinešŸ”„ Hot glue and glue gunāœ‚ļø ScissorsšŸŽƒ A few plain harvest pumpkins — optional

Before you shop, check what you already have!Ā Leftover ribbon, flowers, greenery, paint, and scrap wood are perfect for this project.

šŸ”Ø STEP 1 — FIND YOUR HIDDEN GEM

Look for an old window frame at a thrift store, flea market, estate sale, yard sale, salvage shop, or maybe even your own barn or garage.

Clean it carefully.

If you're working with a genuinely old painted window, remember that older paint may contain lead. Instead of sanding an unknown finish, clean it gently and preserve that beautiful aged character.

šŸŽØ STEP 2 — CHOOSE YOUR LOOK

Love the old finish?

KEEP IT!

Want to change it?

Try:

šŸ¤ Antique White🌿 Sage GreenšŸ’œ Dusty LavenderšŸ¤Ž Warm Natural Wood🩵 Cottage Blue

If you're working with a newer, known-safe finish, you can lightly distress the edges for a timeworn cottage look.

🪵 STEP 3 — ADD YOUR SIGN

Create a little sign from scrap wood or use an inexpensive craft-store plaque.

Try:

šŸ‚ Welcome Fall

šŸ™ Harvest Blessings

ā¤ļø Grateful & Blessed

šŸ” Welcome Home

🌾 Gather Together

Hang it in the center using jute or ribbon.

🌻 STEP 4 — ADD THE FLOWERS

Gather your sunflowers, autumn leaves, wheat, berries, and greenery.

Create a loose arrangement across the top or in one corner of the frame.

Don't worry about making it perfectly symmetrical!

Let some of the greenery trail naturally.

That's what gives it that beautiful collected cottage look.

šŸŽ€ STEP 5 — MAKE A BEAUTIFUL BOW

Layer:

šŸ¤Ž Burlap🧔 Autumn ginghamšŸ¤ Cream ribbonšŸ’œ A little muted lavender, if you'd like

Tie a large bow and attach it near your floral arrangement.

Fluff those loops and let the tails hang naturally.

šŸ” STEP 6 — DISPLAY YOUR CREATION

Now comes the fun part!

Display your finished window:

šŸ”„ Above the mantelšŸ” In the entrywayā˜• Over the coffee baršŸ½ļø In the dining room🪜 Leaning against a decorative ladder🌿 On a protected porchšŸ›‹ļø In the living room

Place a lantern, basket, sunflowers, apples, or a few plain harvest pumpkins nearby to complete your cozy fall display.

ā™»ļø BONUS IDEA — DON'T PUT IT AWAY AFTER FALL!

This window can become YEAR-ROUND DƉCOR!

🌷 Spring — Tulips & greenery🌻 Summer — Daisies & lavenderšŸ‚ Fall — Sunflowers & harvest leavesšŸŽ„ Christmas — Evergreen, pinecones & berries

Simply change the flowers and sign!

One thrifted treasure. Four seasons of decorating.Ā šŸ™Œ

šŸ’° MONDAY'S $10 CHALLENGE

Can you create today's project for $10 or less?

Maybe you find the window for $5.

Use flowers from an old arrangement.

Use leftover ribbon.

Make the sign from scrap wood.

Shop your craft stash before you shop the stores!

The fun isn't seeing how much money we can spend.

It's seeing what we can CREATE with what we already have. šŸ’œ

šŸ’œ TODAY'S INSPIRATION

One of my favorite things about thrifting is finding something other people have overlooked.

An old window may no longer serve its original purpose, but that doesn't mean its usefulness is over.

With a little imagination, it can become something completely new.

Sometimes our lives feel that way too.

Plans change.

Doors close.

Seasons end.

And we may wonder what comes next.

But God can take the pieces of our lives and create something beautiful in ways we never expected.

Don't let an ending convince you there can't be a new beginning.Ā šŸ’œ

šŸ“– TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

"And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:"

Hebrews 10:24 (KJV)

🌻 QUESTION OF THE DAY

If you found an old window frame for $5, what would YOU create?

šŸ‚ Fall dĆ©coršŸ“ø Family photo displayšŸ™ Scripture wall🌿 Plant displayā˜• Coffee bar decorationšŸŽ„ Christmas decorationšŸ’œ Something completely different!

Tell us below!

šŸ“ø MONDAY SHOW & TELL!

And since this is Thrifted Gems & Creative Dreams, I want to see those GEMS! šŸ˜

What did you find this weekend?

šŸ›ļø Thrift-store treasuresšŸ·ļø Yard-sale bargainsšŸ” Estate-sale findsšŸ’µ Dollar Tree or Dollar General goodiesšŸŽØ Hobby Lobby or Michaels bargainsā™»ļø Something you're repurposingšŸ”Ø A project you finished

POST THOSE PICTURES!

Don't worry if your project isn't finished. Share your treasure and ask:

šŸ’œ ā€œWHAT WOULD YOU MAKE WITH THIS?ā€

That's what this group is all about—helping each other see the possibilities hiding in everyday things.

Have a beautiful Monday, crafting friends! šŸŒ»šŸ‚

THRIFT IT. ā™»ļø REPURPOSE IT. šŸŽØ CRAFT IT. ā¤ļø LOVE IT.
