🍂 Thrifted Gems & Creative Dreams 💜Weekend Craft Inspiration | September 25–27, 2026
Finding Possibilities in Everyday Treasures!
Happy Friday, crafting friends! 🌻
Who's ready for a weekend filled with treasure hunting, creativity, and beautiful budget-friendly crafts?
This weekend, we're creating THREE different projects using thrift-store finds, Dollar Tree supplies, Dollar General bargains, and craft supplies from Hobby Lobby or Michaels.
We're going to make something beautiful for our homes, something useful, and something meaningful.
And remember, you don't need a big budget or a craft room full of supplies to create something wonderful!
🌻 FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25
Vintage Colander → Cozy Cottage Harvest Planter
Have you ever seen those old metal colanders at thrift stores or estate sales?
Some are enamel, some are aluminum, and others have beautiful vintage colors.
Today, we're giving one a second chance by turning it into a gorgeous autumn planter!
đź›’ What You'll Need
Old metal colander
Small potted plant or faux floral arrangement
Sunflowers
Wheat stems
Autumn greenery
Burlap or gingham ribbon
Jute twine
Small wooden tag
Optional plain harvest pumpkins
🔨 Step-by-Step Directions
Step 1: Find a vintage colander at a thrift store, yard sale, or estate sale. Clean it thoroughly.
Step 2: Leave the original finish or paint the exterior antique white, sage green, or your favorite cottage color.
Step 3: Place a small potted plant inside. If using a live plant, make sure water can drain freely and protect the surface beneath it.
Step 4: Arrange sunflowers, wheat, and greenery around the plant or create a faux arrangement inside the colander.
Step 5: Tie a burlap or gingham bow around one handle.
Step 6: Add a little wooden tag that says:
“Harvest Blessings”
Display it on your kitchen table, entryway, covered porch, or dining-room buffet!
đź’° Friday's $10 Challenge
Can you create your planter for $10 or less using a thrifted colander and florals you already own?
đź’ś Friday's Inspiration
Sometimes the most beautiful things are the ones we almost passed by.
What someone else considers outdated may become something special in the hands of a creative person.
"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:"
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV)
🏡 SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26
Dollar Tree Supplies → Beautiful Farmhouse Wall Pocket
Saturday is for crafting, and today's project is something beautiful you can make using inexpensive supplies!
We're creating a charming farmhouse wall pocket filled with flowers and greenery.
This would look lovely hanging in your kitchen, entryway, bedroom, or beside an old window frame.
đź›’ What You'll Need
Dollar Tree metal container, wall pocket, or small galvanized bucket
Chalk or acrylic paint
Paintbrush
Faux flowers
Greenery
Lace or gingham ribbon
Jute twine
Small wooden sign
Hot glue gun
Appropriate hanging hardware
🔨 Step-by-Step Directions
Step 1: Choose a lightweight metal container or wall pocket. If you can't find one at Dollar Tree, check thrift stores or repurpose a small galvanized bucket.
Step 2: Clean it and paint the exterior antique white, sage green, or dusty lavender.
Step 3: Once dry, add a little decorative lace or jute around the upper edge.
Step 4: Fill the pocket with faux flowers and greenery.
For a cozy cottage appearance, try:
🌻 Sunflowers
🤍 Cream daisies
đź’ś Lavender
🌿 Eucalyptus
🌾 Wheat
Step 5: Attach a little wooden tag with a favorite saying.
My choice:
“Bless This Home”
Step 6: Add a gingham or lace bow.
Step 7: Attach suitable hanging hardware and display your new creation!
đź’ˇ Bonus Idea
Make TWO matching wall pockets and hang them on either side of a vintage mirror or old window frame.
What a beautiful way to create boutique-style home décor without boutique prices!
đź’° Saturday's $5 Challenge
Can you create today's project for $5 or less?
Use leftover flowers, ribbon scraps, and paint from previous projects.
đź’ś Saturday's Inspiration
A beautiful home isn't measured by how much money we spend decorating it.
It's measured by the love, warmth, and memories created inside it.
Sometimes the simplest handmade treasures bring the greatest joy.
"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;"
Colossians 3:23 (KJV)
🙏 SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27
Thrifted Wooden Box → Family Blessings & Prayer Box
Sunday's craft is going to be a little different.
We're creating something meaningful that can become a beautiful family tradition.
Find an old wooden box, jewelry box, recipe box, or small keepsake chest and transform it into a Family Blessings & Prayer Box.
This is a place where your family can write down prayer requests, answered prayers, blessings, and special memories.
Imagine opening it years from now and remembering the many ways God has been faithful!
đź›’ What You'll Need
Thrifted wooden box
Chalk paint (optional)
Paintbrush
Lace or ribbon
Small wooden cross
Faux flowers
Scripture cards
Blank notecards
Pen
Jute twine
Small envelopes
🔨 Step-by-Step Directions
Step 1: Find a small wooden box at a thrift store, estate sale, yard sale, or in your own home.
Step 2: Clean it thoroughly.
Step 3: Paint it antique white, sage green, muted lavender, or leave the natural wood finish.
Step 4: Decorate the lid with lace, greenery, and a small wooden cross.
Step 5: Add a message to the top:
“Count Your Blessings”
Or:
“Our Family Prayer Box”
Step 6: Cut cardstock into small cards.
Create different categories:
🙏 Prayer Requests
đź’ś Answered Prayers
🌻 Today's Blessings
❤️ Family Memories
đź“– Favorite Scriptures
Step 7: Place the cards and a pen inside the box.
Step 8: Every Sunday, encourage family members to write down something they're thankful for or a prayer they want to remember.
Over time, your box will become a beautiful collection of God's faithfulness and your family's story.
đź’ˇ Special Memory Idea
You can also include a photograph or handwritten memory of someone you love who is no longer here.
Write down a special memory or something they taught you.
Those little notes may become priceless family treasures someday.
đź’° Sunday's $5 Challenge
Can you create this meaningful keepsake using an old box and craft supplies you already have?
Remember, something doesn't have to be expensive to be precious.
đź’ś Sunday's Inspiration
Sometimes we become so focused on what we're praying for next that we forget to remember what God has already done.
The prayers He answered.
The doors He opened.
The strength He gave us when we didn't know how we'd make it through.
The people He placed in our lives.
The blessings we almost overlooked.
Today's craft gives us a beautiful place to remember those moments.
đź“– Sunday's Scripture
"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:"
Psalm 103:2 (KJV)
đź’ś WEEKEND TREASURE HUNT CHALLENGE!
This weekend, I want to challenge everyone to go on a little treasure hunt!
Visit a thrift store, yard sale, estate sale, Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Hobby Lobby, or Michaels.
Or better yet, shop your own home!
Find ONE item that you can give a new purpose.
It doesn't have to be big.
It doesn't have to be expensive.
And it certainly doesn't have to be perfect!
Sometimes the greatest creative possibilities are hiding in the most ordinary places.
