đȘ” Dollar Store or Thrifted Tray â Cozy Autumn Coffee & Cocoa Station
Good morning, crafting friends! đ
It's Friday, and today we're creating something that is not only beautiful but USEFUL!
We're taking a simple Dollar Store wooden tray, thrifted serving tray, or even an old shallow drawer and transforming it into a Cozy Autumn Coffee & Cocoa Station. âđ»
Imagine waking up on a cool autumn morning and having your favorite mug, coffee, tea, cocoa, cinnamon, and sweet little harvest decorations all gathered together in one cozy corner.
And the best part?
You may already have almost everything you need!
đ WHAT YOU'LL NEED
đȘ” Wooden tray, serving tray, or shallow drawerđš Chalk or acrylic paint â optionalđïž Paintbrushđ« Small jars or containersâ Favorite mugsđ„ Wooden spoonsđ Gingham, plaid, burlap, or lace ribbonđ» Small faux sunflowersđŸ Wheat stemsđ Autumn leavesđ Apples or apple picksđȘ” Small wooden sign or tag𧶠Jute twineđ·ïž Labelsđïž Hot glue â optionalâïž Scissors
â»ïž SHOP YOUR HOUSE FIRST!
Before buying containers, check those cabinets!
Use:
đ« Mason jarsđ„« Clean glass food jarsâ Mismatched mugsđ„ Old wooden spoonsđ§ș Small basketsđȘ” Scrap wood
Today's goal is to repurpose MORE and purchase LESS!
đȘ” STEP 1 â FIND YOUR BASE
Start with an inexpensive wooden tray.
Don't have one?
Think outside the box!
Repurpose:
đïž An old drawerđŒïž A deep picture frameđȘ” Scrap woodđ§ș A shallow basketđœïž An old serving tray
Clean it thoroughly before beginning.
đš STEP 2 â GIVE IT A COTTAGE MAKEOVER
If you love the existing finish, leave it!
Otherwise paint it:
đ€ Antique Whiteđż Sage Greenđ€ Warm Wood Brownđ Muted Lavenderâ€ïž Country Red
For a vintage look, lightly distress the edges once the paint is dry.
Don't make it too perfect.
A little wear adds character!
đ·ïž STEP 3 â CREATE YOUR COZY SIGN
Use a little wooden plaque, cutting board, or piece of scrap wood.
Add:
â Coffee & Jesus
đ Cozy Mornings
đ Bless This Home
â Coffee âą Faith âą Family
đ» Gather & Give Thanks
Or simply:
â COME SIT AWHILE
Prop your sign toward the back of the tray.
đ« STEP 4 â REPURPOSE SOME JARS
Wash and dry several small glass jars.
Add labels for:
â Coffee
đ« Cocoa
đŹ Marshmallows
đŻ Sweetener
đż Tea
âš Cinnamon
Tie a tiny piece of gingham, lace, or jute around each jar.
You don't need matching containers!
Different shapes can actually make your display feel more like a collected cottage kitchen.
â STEP 5 â ADD YOUR FAVORITE MUGS
Choose two or three mugs you already own.
They don't need to match either!
A thrifted floral mug beside an old stoneware cup can be absolutely beautiful.
Hang them from hooks if your setup allows, or simply stack them on your tray.
đ» STEP 6 â ADD AUTUMN HARVEST TOUCHES
Now add just a little seasonal beauty:
đ» SunflowersđŸ Wheatđ Applesđ Autumn leavesđż GreeneryđČ Pineconesđ Plain harvest pumpkins
Keep it natural and cozy.
You don't need to fill every empty space.
đ STEP 7 â ADD TEXTURE
Tie a little gingham, plaid, burlap, or lace around:
â A mug handleđ« A jarđ„ Wooden spoonsđȘ” Your sign
You could even place a folded thrifted tea towel underneath the tray.
Those little layers make a simple project feel warm and welcoming.
đĄ STEP 8 â PUT IT ALL TOGETHER!
Arrange the taller pieces toward the back.
Place jars and mugs in the middle.
Keep the items you use most toward the front.
Add your florals and decorations LAST.
And there it is...
â YOUR OWN COZY AUTUMN COFFEE & COCOA STATION!
đĄ BONUS â CREATE A GUEST BASKET!
Expecting company?
Place:
â Individual coffee packetsđ« Cocoa packetsđż Tea bagsđŻ Honey sticksđ„ Stirring spoonsđȘ Individually wrapped treats
inside a thrifted basket beside your station.
Add a little sign:
đ âHELP YOURSELF & STAY AWHILE.â
What a sweet way to make someone feel welcome!
â»ïž CHANGE IT WITH THE SEASONS!
Don't put the tray away!
đ· Spring:Â Florals & pastel mugs
đșđž Summer:Â Lemonade & patriotic accents
đ Autumn:Â Coffee, apples & sunflowers
đ Christmas:Â Cocoa, peppermint & Christmas mugs
One tray can become a beautiful part of your home all year long.
đ° FRIDAY $10 CHALLENGE!
Can you create today's station for $10 or less by using things you already own?
Better yet...
Can you spend NOTHING?
Use your existing coffee supplies.
Repurpose jars.
Use your favorite mugs.
Borrow florals from another arrangement.
Turn an old drawer into the tray.
Sometimes the best thrift flip is something we find inside our own home! đĄ
đ TODAY'S INSPIRATION
I love a beautiful home, but I've learned that what makes a home feel special isn't expensive décor.
It's the feeling someone gets when they walk through the door.
It's saying:
Come in.
Sit down.
Have a cup of coffee.
Tell me how you're doing.
Stay awhile.
Hospitality doesn't have to be fancy.
Sometimes it's simply making room at our table and showing someone that they matter. đ
"Use hospitality one to another without grudging."
â 1 Peter 4:9 (KJV)
â QUESTION OF THE DAY!
Okay, crafting friends...
What's going in YOUR mug this morning?
â Coffeeđ« Hot Cocoađż Teađ„ Something else
And here's the bigger question:
Who would you love to sit down and share a cup with today? đ
đž FRIDAY SHOW & TELL!
Before we head into the weekend, show us what you've been creating!
