🍂 FALL CRAFT OF THE DAY
🪵 Old Wooden Crate → Autumn Harvest Porch Market Stand
Good morning, crafting friends! 💜
Fall is getting closer, and today we're bringing a little old-fashioned harvest-market charm to our homes!
We're taking a simple wooden crate—thrifted, found at a yard sale, or picked up from the craft store—and transforming it into a beautiful Autumn Harvest Market Stand.
Picture an old country roadside stand filled with apples, sunflowers, wheat, baskets, and all the beautiful colors of harvest season. 🍎🌻🌾
And the best part?
When the season changes, we can use the crate again!

Our goal is to CREATE—not just BUY!
1️⃣ FIND YOUR CRATE
Look for an old wooden crate at:
🛍️ Thrift stores🏷️ Estate sales🚗 Yard sales🌾 Flea markets🏡 Your garage or shed🎨 Craft stores
Don't worry about scratches.
A little age makes today's project even better!
2️⃣ GIVE IT A COUNTRY FINISH
You can leave the wood natural or lightly paint it.
Try:
🤍 Antique White
🌿 Sage Green
🤎 Warm Brown
❤️ Barn Red
💜 Dusty Lavender
If you're working with a safe modern finish, lightly distress the edges after the paint dries.
We want it to feel like an old crate that might have once sat outside a country market.
3️⃣ MAKE YOUR MARKET SIGN 🍎
Take a little piece of scrap wood and create a sign.
Try:
🍎 FRESH APPLES
🌻 HARVEST MARKET
🌾 FARM FRESH
🍂 AUTUMN BLESSINGS
🏡 COUNTRY HARVEST
🙏 GRATEFUL & BLESSED
Attach or lean your sign against the back of the crate.
My choice today:
🍎 HARVEST MARKET
Farm Fresh • Gather • Give Thanks
4️⃣ ADD A LITTLE BASKET
Place a small thrifted basket inside or beside your crate.
Fill it with:
🍎 Apples
🍐 Pears
🌾 Wheat
🌻 Sunflowers
🎃 Small plain pumpkins
You can use real produce if the display is indoors and you're going to use it!
There's no reason our decorations can't also be practical.
5️⃣ CREATE YOUR SUNFLOWER BUNDLE 🌻
Gather:
🌻 2–3 sunflowers
🌾 Wheat
🌿 Greenery
🍂 Autumn leaves
Tie them together with jute.
Tuck the bundle into one corner of your crate.
Add a small plaid or gingham bow.
Keep it loose and natural—like flowers gathered from a country garden.
6️⃣ ADD HEIGHT!
Here's a decorating trick:
DON'T PUT EVERYTHING AT THE SAME LEVEL.
Turn a small basket upside down inside the crate and place another item on top.
Or use:
📚 Old books
🪵 Small wood blocks
🧺 Mini crates
🥫 Clean cans hidden underneath fabric
This gives your display different heights and makes it much more interesting.
7️⃣ ADD A COZY LIGHT 🕯️
Place a small battery-operated flameless lantern or candle beside your crate.
When evening comes, that little warm glow will make the entire display feel extra cozy.
For safety, keep real flames away from dried wheat, fabric, baskets, and florals.
8️⃣ CREATE YOUR HARVEST CORNER
Now let's put everything together!
Place your crate:
🚪 Beside the front door
🔥 Near the fireplace
🏡 In the entryway
🍽️ On a dining-room buffet
🪜 Beside a decorative ladder
🌿 On a covered porch
Surround it with:
🌻 Sunflowers
🍎 Apples
🌾 Wheat
🧺 Baskets
🍂 Autumn leaves
🎃 Plain harvest pumpkins
🕯️ Lanterns
And suddenly you've created your own little Country Harvest Market! 😍
💡 BONUS IDEA — MAKE IT FUNCTIONAL!
Use your crate to hold things your family actually needs.
🚪 ENTRYWAY
Blankets, umbrellas or reusable bags
🍎 KITCHEN
Apples, potatoes or pantry items
🛋️ LIVING ROOM
Throws and magazines
🧵 CRAFT ROOM
Fabric and supplies
🪴 PORCH
Seasonal garden décor
Beautiful AND useful is always a win!
♻️ DON'T PUT IT AWAY AFTER FALL!
This crate can work all year.
🌷 SPRING: Flowers & gardening supplies
🇺🇸 SUMMER: Picnic supplies & patriotic décor
🍎 AUTUMN: Apples, wheat & sunflowers
🎄 CHRISTMAS: Evergreen, pinecones & Christmas ribbon
One crate.
Four seasons.
THAT'S SMART DECORATING! 🙌
💰 FRIDAY $10 CHALLENGE!
Today's challenge:
Can you find your crate for $10 OR LESS?
Then decorate it using ONLY things you already own.
Maybe you already have apples in the kitchen.
Sunflowers from another arrangement.
Ribbon scraps.
An old basket.
A lantern.
DON'T BUY AN ENTIRE NEW DISPLAY.
Build it from treasures you've collected over time!
That's what gives your home personality. 💜
💜 TODAY'S INSPIRATION
There's something about harvest season that makes me think about gratitude.
A harvest doesn't happen overnight.
Seeds are planted.
Ground is tended.
Rain comes.
Sun shines.
Time passes.
And eventually, there is a harvest.
Sometimes life is like that too.
We pray.
We work.
We wait.
We trust.
And we may not see immediately what God is doing beneath the surface.
But that doesn't mean nothing is growing. 💜
"They that sow in tears shall reap in joy."
— Psalm 126:5 (KJV)
