✨ CLOSING OUT AUGUST ✨

🖼️ Thrifted Frame → “Seasons of Gratitude” Memory Display

Good morning, crafting friends! 🌻

Can you believe we've reached the last day of August?

All month long we've taken forgotten treasures and imagined something new.

We've transformed baskets, drawers, windows, lanterns, ladders, old books, frames, and so much more.

So for our final August project, I wanted to create something that represents exactly what this group is about:

💜 Seeing beauty, memories, and possibilities in things others may overlook.

Today we're turning an old thrifted frame into a beautiful Seasons of Gratitude Memory Display that can grow and change right along with your family.

🛍️ WHAT YOU'LL NEED

🖼️ Large thrifted picture frame🧵 Twine or thin ribbon📌 Mini clothespins📸 Favorite summer photographs📜 Cardstock or scrapbook paper🌻 Sunflowers🍂 Fall leaves🌿 Greenery🎀 Lace, burlap, or ribbon🏷️ Small wooden sign or scrap wood🎨 Paint or stain — optional✂️ Scissors🖌️ Hot glue or floral wire

🖼️ STEP 1 — FIND YOUR FRAME

Look for a large old frame at a thrift store, estate sale, flea market, or yard sale.

Don't worry about the picture inside!

We're looking for a frame with character.

Clean it thoroughly and remove the glass and backing.

🎨 STEP 2 — GIVE IT A SECOND CHANCE

Keep the original finish if you love it, or give it a cozy cottage makeover.

Try:

🤍 Antique White🌿 Sage Green💜 Soft Lavender🤎 Distressed Natural Wood🩵 Cottage Blue

Lightly distress the edges for a well-loved appearance.

🧵 STEP 3 — CREATE YOUR MEMORY LINES

Stretch several pieces of twine horizontally across the back of the frame.

Secure them tightly.

Add mini clothespins along each piece of twine.

Now you have somewhere to display all those little memories!

📸 STEP 4 — ADD YOUR AUGUST MEMORIES

Choose some favorite photographs from the month.

Maybe it's:

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family time

🏕️ A summer adventure

🌻 Your garden

🐾 A beloved pet

🎨 Something you created

🛍️ An amazing thrift find

❤️ Someone you love

Clip your pictures onto the twine.

Don't have photographs printed?

Write the memories on little cards instead!

🙏 STEP 5 — ADD YOUR GRATITUDE CARDS

Now create several small cards beginning with:

💜 I'm thankful for...

🙏 God answered...

🌻 My favorite August memory was...

❤️ Someone who blessed me this month...

Something I learned...

🍂 Something I'm looking forward to in September...

Have everyone in the family fill out a card.

🌻 STEP 6 — SUMMER MEETS FALL

Since August sits right between summer and fall, let's represent BOTH seasons!

Decorate one side with:

🌻 Sunflowers🌿 Greenery🤍 Daisies

Then begin transitioning the other side with:

🍂 Fall leaves🌾 Wheat🎃 Tiny pumpkins🤎 Burlap

It's a beautiful reminder that one season can end while another beautiful season begins.

🏷️ STEP 7 — ADD YOUR MESSAGE

Use scrap wood or a thrifted sign to add:

💜 Grateful for the Memories

🌻 Count Your Blessings

🏡 Our Family Story

🙏 God Has Been Faithful

🍂 For Everything There Is a Season

My favorite for today's project:

💜 “GRATEFUL FOR THIS SEASON”

♻️ STEP 8 — KEEP IT GOING!

Don't pack this project away after August!

As September unfolds, replace August memories with new ones.

In October, add autumn adventures.

At Thanksgiving, fill it with gratitude cards.

At Christmas, add family pictures and answered prayers.

By the end of the year, you'll have a beautiful visual reminder of just how much happened in your family's life.

💰 FINAL AUGUST THRIFT CHALLENGE!

Before buying ANYTHING for today's project...

SHOP YOUR HOUSE! 🏡

Look through:

🎀 Ribbon scraps🌸 Leftover florals🖼️ Forgotten frames📜 Scrapbook paper🧵 Twine📌 Clothespins🌿 Old decorations

Let's see who can create today's project using 100% repurposed or already-owned supplies!

💜 AS WE CLOSE AUGUST...

I hope this month's crafts have encouraged you to look at old things differently.

But even more than that, I hope they've encouraged you to slow down and create.

Craft with your children.

Craft with your grandchildren.

Call a friend and have a crafting afternoon.

Visit an estate sale together.

Laugh when the project doesn't turn out exactly like the picture.

Take before-and-after photos.

And don't be afraid to try something new.

Because the greatest thing we create isn't always the project sitting on the table.

Sometimes it's the MEMORY we made while creating it. 💜

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:"

— Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV)

🌻 ONE LAST AUGUST QUESTION!

Looking back over this month's crafts, what did YOU enjoy most?

🛍️ Thrift-store transformations♻️ Repurposing projects🍂 Seasonal decorating🏡 Cozy cottage crafts🎨 Family projects💜 Seeing everyone's creations

And most importantly...

📸 SHOW US WHAT YOU MADE IN AUGUST!

Post your favorite thrift find, craft, furniture flip, repurpose, or before-and-after picture in the comments!

Let's close August by filling our group with creativity and inspiration. 💜

And tomorrow...

🍂 HELLO SEPTEMBER!

We're heading into one of the BEST crafting seasons of the year, and I can't wait to see what treasures we transform next!

Thrift it. ♻️ Repurpose it. 🔨 Create it. 🎨 Love it. 💜
