Today we're heading back to the Dollar Store for another inexpensive transformation!
Look in the kitchen aisle for those simple little wood or bamboo cutting boards. With some paint, ribbon, florals, and imagination, we're turning them into beautiful Cozy Cottage Harvest Signs perfect for the kitchen, dining room, coffee bar, or entryway.
Today's theme is all about the beauty of the autumn harvest—sunflowers, apples, wheat, leaves, warm colors, and gratitude. 🌻🍎🌾
🛒 WHAT YOU'LL NEED
🪵 1–3 inexpensive cutting boards🎨 Chalk or acrylic paint🖌️ Paintbrush or sponge🧽 Sandpaper — optional🌻 Faux sunflowers🍎 Faux apples or apple picks🌾 Wheat stems🍂 Autumn leaves🌿 Greenery🎀 Burlap, gingham, plaid, or lace ribbon🧶 Jute twine🏷️ Wooden letters, stencils, or transfers🖌️ Hot glue gun & glue sticks✂️ Scissors
♻️ SHOP YOUR HOUSE FIRST!
Check your craft stash before buying new supplies.
Old ribbon, leftover flowers, scrap fabric, buttons, wooden beads, and greenery can all become part of today's project!
🪵 STEP 1 — PREPARE YOUR CUTTING BOARD
Remove any labels and clean the cutting board.
If you love the natural wood, leave it alone!
Or paint it:

Allow it to dry completely.
🎨 STEP 2 — CREATE AN AGED COTTAGE FINISH
If you'd like a vintage look, lightly dry-brush the edges with brown, white, or gray paint.
Don't overdo it!
We're trying to create the appearance of something that has been lovingly used in a country kitchen for years.

🌻 STEP 4 — CREATE A LITTLE HARVEST BUNDLE
Gather:
🌻 One sunflower🌾 A few wheat stems🍂 Autumn leaves🌿 Greenery🍎 A small apple pick
Layer the greenery first, then add your sunflower and wheat.
Tie everything together with twine.
You only need a small arrangement—let the lettering remain the star of the project.
🎀 STEP 5 — MAKE YOUR COTTAGE BOW
Use leftover ribbon to create a simple bow.
Mix textures like:
🤎 Burlap❤️ Country gingham🧡 Autumn plaid🤍 Vintage lace
Attach your bow near the handle and tuck your floral bundle underneath.
🧶 STEP 6 — ADD A HANGER
If your cutting board has a hole in the handle, thread jute or ribbon through it.
