🍂🌻 THRIFTED TREASURES & DIY CREATIONS 🌻🍂Sunday, September 6, 2026💜 SUNDAY DOLLAR STORE CRAFT🧺 Dollar Store Basket → Family Blessings & Gratitude Basket
🧺 Dollar Store Basket → Family Blessings & Gratitude Basket
Happy Sunday, crafting friends! 💜
Today’s craft isn’t just something pretty to decorate our homes.
It’s something I hope will encourage our families to slow down, count our blessings, and remember God’s faithfulness.
We’re taking a simple Dollar Store basket and turning it into a beautiful Family Blessings & Gratitude Basket that we can use throughout September, autumn, Thanksgiving, or even all year long. 🙏
Every family member can participate—even the little ones!
🛒 WHAT YOU’LL NEED
🧺 Small Dollar Store basket🌻 Faux sunflowers🌾 Wheat or dried grasses🍂 Autumn leaves🌿 Greenery🎀 Burlap, gingham, plaid, or lace ribbon🪵 Small wooden tag or craft plaque🧶 Jute twine📜 Cardstock or scrapbook paper✏️ Pens or markers✂️ Scissors🖌️ Hot glue gun & glue sticks🫙 Optional small jar to place inside
💰 BEFORE YOU SHOP...
Check your house!
You may already have:
🎀 Leftover ribbon🌻 Old floral stems📜 Scrapbook paper🧺 A forgotten basket🪵 Scrap wood🧶 Twine
If you already have a basket, today’s craft might cost almost nothing! 🙌
🧺 STEP 1 — CHOOSE YOUR BASKET
Look for a simple basket that will hold plenty of little gratitude cards.
Wicker is beautiful, but you can also use:
🪣 A small galvanized bucket🪵 Wooden crate🫙 Large Mason jar🥫 Repurposed coffee can🗄️ Small thrifted drawer
Remember our crafting motto:
💡 Don’t just look at what something IS—look at what it COULD BECOME!
🎀 STEP 2 — GIVE IT SOME COZY COTTAGE CHARM
Tie burlap, gingham, plaid, or lace ribbon around your basket.
You don’t need a giant bow.
Sometimes a simple strip of vintage-looking fabric tied around the handle is beautiful.
If you’re using an old basket, leave those little scratches and worn spots.
They give it character!
🌻 STEP 3 — CREATE A SMALL HARVEST BUNDLE
Gather:
🌻 One sunflower🌾 A few wheat stems🍂 Autumn leaves🌿 Greenery
Layer them into a small bundle and secure them with twine or floral wire.
Attach the bundle near the handle.
Keep it simple and natural.
🪵 STEP 4 — MAKE YOUR BLESSINGS TAG
Paint or decorate a little wooden tag.
Write:
🙏 COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS
or
💜 GOD IS FAITHFUL
Other ideas:
🌻 Give Thanks
🏡 Our Family Blessings
❤️ Grateful Hearts
🙏 Thank You, Lord
Tie your tag onto the basket with jute.
✂️ STEP 5 — MAKE YOUR GRATITUDE CARDS
Cut scrapbook paper or cardstock into small cards.
They don’t have to match!
Using several autumn colors makes the basket even prettier.
Write prompts on some cards:
🙏 Today I thank God for...
❤️ Someone who blessed me today...
🌻 Something that made me smile...
📖 A Scripture I’m thankful for...
🏡 Something I love about our family...
🙌 A prayer God answered...
Leave plenty of cards blank, too.
👨👩👧👦 STEP 6 — GET THE WHOLE FAMILY INVOLVED
Place your basket somewhere everyone passes regularly.
Maybe:
🍽️ Dining table☕ Kitchen counter🏡 Entryway🙏 Prayer area🔥 Fireplace mantel
Encourage everyone to add at least one blessing each week.
Little children can draw a picture instead of writing!
🙏 STEP 7 — WATCH YOUR BASKET FILL!
Here’s where this craft becomes special.
Every Sunday, pull out a few cards and read them together.
Imagine reaching Thanksgiving and seeing your basket overflowing with little reminders of God’s goodness!
And don’t throw those cards away.
Place them in an envelope, scrapbook, or memory box and write:
💜 “OUR FAMILY BLESSINGS — 2026”
Someday those little pieces of paper may become more valuable to you than any decoration you could buy.
🍂 BONUS IDEA — ADD ANSWERED PRAYERS!
Use TWO colors of cards.
🤎 One color = Blessings
💜 Another color = Answered Prayers
When God answers something your family has been praying about, write it down.
At the end of the year, read those cards together.
Sometimes we pray so quickly for the next need that we forget to stop and remember the prayers God has already answered.
💰 SUNDAY $5 CHALLENGE!
Today I’m lowering our budget!
Can you create this for $5 OR LESS?
Better yet...
Can you make it FREE using things you already own? 😍
Old basket?
Use it.
Scrap paper?
Cut it up.
Leftover ribbon?
Perfect.
Flowers from another arrangement?
Repurpose them!
Sometimes the most meaningful crafts are also the least expensive.
💜 SUNDAY INSPIRATION
Life gets busy.
We think about what needs fixing.
What needs paying.
What needs cleaning.
What needs doing tomorrow.
And sometimes we can become so focused on what we need that we overlook everything God has already provided.
Today, let’s intentionally notice our blessings.
Not only the big ones.
The little ones too.
A cup of coffee.
A phone call from someone we love.
Food on the table.
A safe trip home.
A beautiful sunrise.
A prayer answered.
Another day God has given us.
There is always something for which we can say:
🙏 “THANK YOU, LORD.”
"In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
— 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV)
🌻 SUNDAY QUESTION
What is ONE simple blessing you’re thanking God for today?
You don’t have to write a long answer.
Just finish this sentence:
💜 “Today I thank God for __________.”
Let’s fill the comments with gratitude!
