ššØ THRIFTED TREASURES & DIY CREATIONS
š” WEEKEND CRAFT CHALLENGE
Friday, August 28 ā Sunday, August 30, 2026
š Create a Thrifted Cozy Fall Porch Corner!
Happy Friday, crafting friends! š
Instead of doing three completely separate crafts this weekend, let's create ONE beautiful fall project together over three days!
We're challenging you to build a Cozy Fall Porch CornerĀ using mostly thrifted, repurposed, yard-sale, or already-owned treasures.
This is a wonderful project for couples, grandparents and grandchildren, parents and kids, or even a few crafting friends!
And don't worry if you don't have a porchāthis same display can be created in an entryway, living room, fireplace area, or covered patio.
š FRIDAY ā THE TREASURE HUNT!
Friday is all about finding our supplies!
Before buying anything, shop your:
š” Atticš Garageš¾ Barn or shedšØ Craft stashš§ŗ Storage bins
Then visit a thrift store, estate sale, flea market, or yard sale.
š Look for:
šŖ Old wooden chair or stoolš§ŗ Vintage basketšŖ Small ladderšŖµ Wooden crateš® Old lanternšŖ£ Galvanized bucketš¼ļø Old frame or signš» Faux flowersš Ribbon scrapsš§£ Plaid blanketš Pumpkins or gourds
š° FRIDAY CHALLENGE:
Give the family a $20 thrift budget!
Who can find the BEST treasure for the LEAST amount of money?
Let the kids help choose pieces. Sometimes they see possibilities we adults completely miss! š
šØ SATURDAY ā REPURPOSE & CREATE!
Now the fun begins!
Clean everything you found Friday.
STEP 1 ā PICK YOUR MAIN PIECE
Use your chair, ladder, crate, or stool as the anchor for your display.
Don't automatically paint it!
Sometimes chipped paint and weathered wood are exactly what give a fall display its character.
STEP 2 ā ADD DIFFERENT HEIGHTS
Place:
šŖ A ladder in the back
šŖ A chair or stool beside it
š§ŗ A basket on top
šŖµ A crate near the bottom
Different heights make the display much more interesting.
STEP 3 ā CREATE YOUR FALL BASKET
Fill a thrifted basket or galvanized bucket with:
š» Sunflowersš Fall leavesš¾ Wheatšæ Greeneryš Mini pumpkinsš² Pinecones
Let some of the greenery spill naturally over the sides.
STEP 4 ā MAKE A FAMILY FALL SIGN
Grab scrap wood, an old cabinet door, or even the back of an unwanted picture frame.
Paint:
š Hello Fall
š» Harvest Blessings
š Thankful & Blessed
š” Welcome Home
ā¤ļø Gather With Grateful Hearts
Let everyone add something!
Children can paint leaves, adults can do the lettering, and everyone can sign the back with their name and 2026.
Now you haven't just made dĆ©corāyou've made a memory. š
š» SUNDAY ā DECORATE & GIVE THANKS!
Sunday is finishing day!
Bring everything together into your cozy fall corner.
Add:
š Pumpkins around the bottom
šÆļø Flameless lanterns
š§£ A plaid blanket over the chair or ladder
š§ŗ Your floral basket
š Fall garland
š·ļø Your handmade family sign
Then stand back and admire what you created together!
š ADD A GRATITUDE BASKET
Before calling the project finished, place a little basket or jar in your display.
Cut small pieces of paper and have every family member write:
"Today I am thankful for..."
Add another gratitude note every Sunday throughout the fall.
By Thanksgiving, you'll have a basket filled with reminders of God's blessings. ā¤ļø
ā»ļø DON'T MAKE EVERYTHING PERMANENT!
Here's the secret to making this project REALLY budget-friendly.
Use ribbon, floral wire, hooks, or removable ties instead of permanently gluing your decorations.
Then after fall:
š Change it to Christmas
āļø Create a winter display
š· Transform it for spring
šŗšø Decorate it for summer
The same thrifted treasures can be used over and over again!
š THE FAMILY BEFORE & AFTER CHALLENGE!
Take a picture of everything BEFORE you begin.
Old chair.
Empty basket.
Beat-up crate.
Plain lantern.
Then take another picture Sunday after you've created your finished display.
Put them side by side!
Sometimes we don't realize just how much we've transformed something until we see that BEFORE & AFTER!Ā š
š WEEKEND INSPIRATION
This weekend isn't really about making the perfect fall display.
It's about spending time together.
It's about teaching our children and grandchildren to use their imagination.
It's about realizing we don't always need something brand-new.
And maybe it's about putting the phones down for a little while, laughing together, getting paint on our hands, and creating a memory that will last much longer than the decoration itself.
"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;"
ā Colossians 3:23 (KJV)
šø NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
We're giving you the WHOLE WEEKEND!
š Share your pictures along the way:
šļø FRIDAY:Ā Show us what you thrifted!
šØ SATURDAY:Ā Show us your work in progress!
š” SUNDAY:Ā Show us the finished display!
And PLEASE share those before-and-after pictures! š
Let's fill our group this weekend with families creating, people thrifting, old treasures getting new life, and LOTS of encouragement!
You don't need a huge budget.
You don't need professional crafting skills.
You just need a little imagination and a willingness to look at something old and ask:
š” "WHAT COULD THIS BECOME?"
Happy crafting, friends! Have a beautiful weekend! šš»š”š
THRIFT IT. ā»ļø REPURPOSE IT. šØ CREATE IT. šØ LOVE IT. š
