🌻 FALL CRAFT OF THE DAY

🪜 Thrifted Wooden Ladder → Cozy Fall Blanket & Harvest Display

Good morning, crafting friends! 💜🍁

Today we're taking something you might walk right past at an estate sale, flea market, or yard sale—an old wooden ladder—and giving it a beautiful new purpose!

We're turning it into a Cozy Fall Blanket & Harvest Display filled with warm blankets, little baskets, pumpkins, sunflowers, and autumn charm. 🧺🎃

This is one of those projects where the more weathered the treasure is, the MORE character it has!

🛍️ What You'll Need

🪜 Old wooden ladder🧽 Cleaning supplies🎨 Chalk paint or stain — optional🛡️ Clear sealer🧺 Small thrifted baskets🍂 Fall garland or leaves🌻 Sunflowers or fall florals🎃 Mini pumpkins🌾 Wheat or dried grasses🎀 Burlap, plaid, or gingham ribbon🧣 Cozy throws or blankets🏷️ Small wooden sign🕯️ Optional flameless lantern

🪜 STEP 1 — FIND & PREPARE YOUR LADDER

Look for an old wooden ladder with lots of character.

Clean it thoroughly and make sure it's sturdy enough for decorative use.

If the ladder has peeling vintage paint of unknown age, avoid sanding it until you know the finish is safe. Cleaning and sealing the existing finish can preserve its beautiful aged appearance.

🎨 STEP 2 — CHOOSE YOUR COTTAGE LOOK

You can leave the ladder natural or give it a makeover.

Try:

🤍 Distressed Antique White🌿 Sage Green🤎 Warm Natural Wood🩵 Dusty Cottage Blue💜 Soft Lavender

Don't try to make every scratch disappear. Those imperfections are part of the charm!

🧣 STEP 3 — ADD THE COZY!

Fold your favorite fall blankets over two or three rungs.

Mix textures such as:

🍂 Plaid🤍 Chunky knit🤎 Neutral woven blankets🧡 Warm fall colors🖤 Buffalo check

You can even find beautiful secondhand throws while thrifting!

🧺 STEP 4 — ADD REPURPOSED BASKETS

Attach or hang small lightweight baskets from the ladder.

Fill them with:

🌻 Sunflowers🎃 Mini pumpkins🌾 Wheat🍂 Fall leaves🌿 Greenery🌰 Pinecones

Important: Keep the baskets lightweight and secure them well so they can't fall.

🍁 STEP 5 — ADD FALL GARLAND

Loosely weave a fall garland along one side of the ladder.

Don't have a garland?

Make one from leftover floral stems, faux leaves, ribbon, and greenery from previous projects!

🎀 STEP 6 — FINISH WITH A BEAUTIFUL BOW

Create a big bow using:

🤎 Burlap🧡 Fall plaid🤍 Lace🖤 Gingham🌻 Sunflower ribbon

Attach it near the top and tuck in a few leaves or sunflowers.

🏷️ STEP 7 — ADD A FALL MESSAGE

Hang a little thrifted sign from one of the rungs:

🍂 Hello Fall

🌻 Harvest Blessings

🙏 Thankful & Blessed

🏡 Welcome Home

❤️ Gather With Grateful Hearts

🕯️ STEP 8 — CREATE THE FINISHED DISPLAY

Lean your ladder securely against a wall and style the bottom with a few thrifted treasures:

🎃 Pumpkins🕯️ Flameless lantern🧺 Vintage basket🌻 Crock of sunflowers📚 Old books

And there you have it—a beautiful cozy cottage fall corner! 😍🍂

Don't permanently attach your decorations, because this ladder can keep changing!
