🍎 DOLLAR STORE CRAFT OF THE DAY

🧇 Cooling Rack → Cozy Cottage Harvest Memory & Recipe Board

Good morning, crafting friends! 💜

Today's craft starts with something completely ordinary from the kitchen aisle—a simple metal cooling rack!

Instead of using it for cookies, we're turning it into a beautiful Cozy Cottage Harvest Memory & Recipe Board where you can display family recipes, photographs, Scripture cards, gratitude notes, and little autumn treasures.

This would be beautiful hanging in the kitchen or sitting on a coffee bar!

And we're keeping it simple, affordable, and harvest-inspired. 🌻🍎🌾

🛒 WHAT YOU'LL NEED

🤎 Dollar Store cooling rack🎨 Chalk or spray paint — optional🧷 Mini clothespins🧶 Jute twine🎀 Gingham, plaid, burlap, or lace ribbon🌻 Small faux sunflowers🌾 Wheat stems🍂 Autumn leaves🍎 Apple picks — optional📜 Recipe cards or cardstock📸 Family photographs📖 Scripture cards🪵 Small wooden tag✂️ Scissors🖌️ Hot glue or floral wire

Before buying anything, shop your house first! Old recipe cards, leftover ribbon, scrap paper, and flowers from another arrangement are perfect for this project.

1️⃣ PREP YOUR COOLING RACK

Clean the rack and remove any labels.

You can leave the metal exactly as it is for an industrial farmhouse look, or paint it:

🤍 Antique White🖤 Farmhouse Black🌿 Sage Green🤎 Warm Bronze💜 Muted Lavender

Allow it to dry completely.

2️⃣ CREATE YOUR HANGER

Loop sturdy jute twine through the top corners and tie securely.

Or use a pretty ribbon if you'd like a softer cottage look.

Make sure the hanger is secure before putting anything on your board.

3️⃣ ADD YOUR LITTLE CLOTHESPINS

Clip miniature clothespins onto different sections of the rack.

These will hold all your treasures!

Don't have mini clothespins?

Small binder clips can work too.

4️⃣ ADD A FAMILY RECIPE

Here's where today's project gets special. ❤️

Find a favorite handwritten family recipe—or write one onto a pretty card.

Maybe it's:

🍎 Grandma's Apple Pie🍞 Mom's Homemade Bread🥧 Family Cobbler🥣 Favorite Soup🍪 A treasured cookie recipe

Clip it onto your board.

If you have an original handwritten recipe, consider displaying a copy so the original stays protected.

5️⃣ ADD MEMORIES

Clip on:

📸 Family photographs💌 Little notes🙏 Answered prayers📖 Favorite Scriptures🌻 Gratitude cards🍎 Favorite autumn recipes

This isn't just decoration anymore.

It's becoming a little piece of your family's story.

6️⃣ CREATE A HARVEST CORNER

Gather a SMALL bundle of:

🌻 Sunflower🌾 Wheat🍂 Autumn leaves🌿 Greenery

Tie it together with jute or floral wire and attach it to one corner of your rack.

Remember—don't cover the entire board.

We still want room for our memories!

7️⃣ ADD A COTTAGE BOW

Use scraps of:

🤎 Burlap❤️ Gingham🍂 Autumn plaid🤍 Vintage lace

Tie a simple bow beside your floral bundle.

This is a great place to use those little pieces of ribbon that are too short for larger projects!

8️⃣ ADD YOUR MESSAGE

Create a little wooden tag saying:

🍎 Gather Together

🙏 Count Your Blessings

🌻 Harvest Memories

🏡 Home & Family

❤️ Made With Love

My favorite:

💜 FAITH • FAMILY • MEMORIES

Tie it onto your board with jute.

🍂 NOW MAKE IT INTERACTIVE!

Place several blank cards nearby.

Throughout September, family members can add:

🙏 Something they're thankful for

❤️ A favorite family memory

📖 A Scripture that encouraged them

🍎 A recipe they want to make together

💌 A little note to someone in the family

Imagine reading them together at the end of the month!

♻️ ONE BOARD — ALL YEAR LONG!

This doesn't have to be only an autumn project.

🌷 Spring: Family pictures & flowers🇺🇸 Summer: Vacation memories & patriotic touches🍂 Autumn: Recipes, gratitude & harvest memories🎄 Christmas: Christmas cards & family photographs

Simply change the decorations while keeping the board!

💰 TODAY'S $5 CHALLENGE

Can you make today's craft for $5 or less?

Even better—buy ONLY the cooling rack and use what you already have.

Don't buy new ribbon when there's a scrap in the craft drawer.

Don't buy new flowers when an old arrangement can be taken apart.

Don't buy expensive cards when scrapbook scraps will work beautifully.

♻️ REPURPOSING IS ABOUT CREATIVITY, NOT SPENDING!

💜 TODAY'S INSPIRATION

Some of the most valuable things in our homes aren't valuable because of what they cost.

They're valuable because of the memories attached to them.

A handwritten recipe.

An old photograph.

A note from someone we love.

A Scripture that carried us through a difficult season.

Those little pieces of our story deserve to be remembered.

"We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD..."

— Psalm 78:4 (KJV)

🌻 QUESTION OF THE DAY

If you could preserve ONE family recipe forever, what would it be?

🍎 Grandma's pie?🍞 Homemade bread?🥣 Mom's soup?🍰 A special cake?🍪 Christmas cookies?💜 Something completely different?

Tell us in the comments—and if you're willing, share the recipe too!

📸 And don't forget to show us your latest thrift finds, Dollar Store transformations, crafts, and before-and-after projects.

You never know when something YOU create will inspire somebody else. 💜

Have a beautiful Thursday, crafting friends! 🌻🍎🍂

THRIFT IT. ♻️ REPURPOSE IT. 🔨 CREATE IT. 🎨 LOVE IT. 💜
