A Father's Blessing

A Father’s Blessing We have gotten away from it in modern times, but in patriarchal days a father’s blessing was powerful. It reflected his prophetic view of his family’s future, based on the character of each person. We know in hindsight that the messiah, Jesus Christ, would come from the line of Judah. He would be not only King of the Jews, but King of kings, and Lord of lords. I wonder what Judah heard that day when he listened to his father’s words. Prayer: Dear Lord, I need your fatherly blessing today. I wait for your word on my future; how you will use the skills, abilities, and experiences of my life for your glory. Thank you for loving me enough to make me your child. Today, I receive every blessing from you, Father God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Day 24
THE JEWISH TRIFECTA
[Scheduled Reading: Nehemiah 8-13, Esther, Job 1-8]
When we hear of the Holocaust, we think of six million Jews killed by Hitler in the 1940’s. We forget sometimes that Jewish genocide has been ongoing for the past 3,500 years.
Pharoah set out to kill baby boys because the Jewish race was growing too quickly. (Remember Moses in the basket?)
King Herod set out to destroy baby boys as well (Mary and Joseph escaped to Egypt with baby Jesus).
The story of Esther is yet another example of an attempt to exterminate the Jews.
The reversal of fate on Haman is one of the most entertaining plot twists in all of scriptures. Read this book leisurely - and enjoy its drama.
Once again, God delivers the Jews from extinction.
Ezra-Nehamiah-Esther can be considered the Jewish-trifecta in keeping The Seed alive with a remaining remnant of Israel.
