🌾 Agape Love Daily Chuckwagon Recipe
🍲 Cowboy Campfire Chili Stew
A thick, smoky, beef-and-bean stew with just enough spice to warm you through.
Serves: 6–8Cook Time: 50–60 minutes
This isn’t quite chili and it isn’t quite soup — it’s that in-between, stick-to-your-ribs camp stew that feels like comfort after a long day.
🥩 Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 lb beef stew meat (optional but makes it hearty)
2 tbsp bacon grease or olive oil
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained
1 can (15 oz) pinto beans, drained
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
1 small can tomato sauce
3½–4 cups beef broth
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
½ tsp smoked paprika
½ tsp black pepper
Salt to taste
Optional: pinch of cayenne
🍳 Instructions
Brown the MeatIn a Dutch oven, brown ground beef (and stew meat if using). Drain excess grease if needed.
Build the BaseAdd onion and garlic; cook until soft and fragrant.
Add Beans & TomatoesStir in beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and broth.
Season & SimmerAdd chili powder, cumin, paprika, pepper, and salt.Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat.
Cook Low & SlowCover and simmer 40–45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thick and rich.
ServeLadle into bowls and top with shredded cheese, sour cream, or cornbread crumbles.

The longer chili-style stews simmer, the deeper the flavor. It’s even better the next day.
