A hearty chuckwagon classic — tender beef, sweet cabbage, potatoes, and savory broth simmered into a rich, comforting stew.

This stew is simple, filling, and full of rustic flavor — the kind of pot that feeds a hungry crew after a long day.

🄩 Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or beef stew meat

  • 2 tbsp butter or bacon grease

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 3 cups chopped cabbage

  • 2 medium potatoes, diced

  • 2 carrots, sliced

  • 4½ cups beef broth

  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes

  • 1 tsp thyme

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • Salt to taste

  1. Brown the BeefIn a Dutch oven, heat butter or bacon grease over medium heat. Brown the beef until fully cooked.
