"You Don't Have to Be Strong All the Time"
📖 Scripture (KJV)
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." — Psalm 46:1
🌿 Devotional Thought
Sometimes the words "You're so strong" don't feel like a compliment when you're grieving.
People see you getting up every morning.
Going to work.
Taking care of your family.
Helping others.
Going to church.
Smiling when someone asks how you're doing.
And they say:
"I don't know how you do it. You're so strong."
But they don't always see what happens when you're alone.
They don't see the tears in the car.
They don't see the nights when sleep won't come.
They don't see you reaching for the phone before remembering you can't call that person anymore.
They don't hear the prayers that simply say:
"Lord, I need You."
Friend, today I want you to know something:
You don't have to be strong all the time.
God never asked you to be.
💜 Strength Doesn't Mean You Never Cry
Somewhere along the way, many of us learned to associate strength with holding everything together.
But tears aren't weakness.
Needing someone isn't weakness.
Having a difficult day isn't weakness.
Missing your loved one years after their passing isn't weakness.
Even Jesus wept.
There are times when the strongest thing you can do is admit:
"Today is hard."
Psalm 46 doesn't tell us that we must become our own refuge and strength.
It tells us:
God is our refuge and strength.
What freedom there is in those words.
When your strength runs low, His doesn't.
When you can't carry the burden, He can.
When you don't know what tomorrow looks like, He is already there.
🌿 Let Someone Walk Beside You
Grief can become especially heavy when we try to carry it privately.
Maybe you don't want to burden anyone.
Maybe you're always the person everyone else depends on.
Maybe you've become so accustomed to saying "I'm fine" that you've almost forgotten how to say:
"I need someone today."
There is no shame in needing support.
Call the friend.
Talk with your pastor.
Sit with someone you trust.
Join a grief support group.
Ask someone to pray with you.
God often sends His comfort through the people He places around us.
You were never created to walk every valley alone.
🌸 It's Okay to Rest
Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is simply rest.
You don't have to solve everything today.
You don't have to answer every message.
You don't have to make every decision.
You don't even have to understand why everything happened.
There are questions we may carry until Heaven.
Today, you can simply say:
"Lord, I don't understand, but I trust You."
Then place the burden into His hands.
Rest your heart.
Take this day one moment at a time.
His grace will meet you there.
🕊️ Your Loved One Is Worth Talking About
Please don't feel like enough time has passed that you shouldn't mention the person you miss.
Speak their name.
Tell their stories.
Remember the funny moments.
Share the photographs.
Talk about the lessons they taught you.
The people we love are part of our story.
Their life mattered.
And remembering them doesn't mean you're refusing to move forward.
It simply means love still lives in your heart.
🙏 Friday Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being our refuge when life becomes too heavy.
For every person reading this who is tired of trying to be strong, wrap Your loving arms around them today.
Remind them that they don't have to carry everything alone.
Give them permission to rest.
Send people who will listen without judging and sit beside them without trying to fix everything.
When tears come, remind them that You see every one.
When memories surface, help them receive those memories as precious reminders of love.
And when their strength is gone, remind them that Yours never is.
Thank You for carrying us through every valley and for the eternal hope we have through Jesus Christ.
In Jesus' precious Name,
Amen.

💜 Agape Love Friday Reminder
You don't have to be strong all the time because your strength was never meant to come from you alone. God is your refuge. God is your strength. God is your help. Cry when you need to cry. Rest when you need to rest. Ask for help when the burden becomes heavy. And when you don't have the strength to take another step, trust the One who has promised to carry you.
