💜 Agape Love Daily Grief Support When You Miss Them a Little More on Sundays”
📖 Scripture — KJV
“The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”— Psalm 34:18
🌿 Devotional Thought
There is something about Sundays that can make us miss our loved ones a little more.
Maybe Sunday was the day everyone gathered for dinner.
Maybe you sat together in church.
Maybe you heard their voice singing an old hymn.
Maybe Sunday afternoons meant sitting around the table talking, laughing, drinking coffee, or simply enjoying being together.
Then loss comes, and suddenly those familiar routines feel different.
There may be an empty place in the pew.
An empty chair at the table.
A phone call that no longer comes.
And sometimes, right in the middle of worship, a memory floods your heart and the tears begin to fall.
If that is you today, remember the beautiful words of Psalm 34:18:
“The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart.”
God doesn't stand far away from our grief.
He comes near.
đź’ś You Can Worship and Weep
Sometimes we think being strong in our faith means we shouldn't cry.
But faith doesn't remove our humanity.
Jesus Himself wept.
There may be Sundays when you raise your hands in praise.
There may be Sundays when all you can do is sit quietly while tears roll down your cheeks.
Both can be worship.
Sometimes one of the most sincere prayers a grieving heart can offer is simply:
“Jesus, I miss them. Please help me today.”
And He hears you.
You don't have to explain your grief to God. He already knows every detail of your heart.
🌸 Don't Be Afraid to Remember
If your family gathers today, tell a story about the person you miss.
Speak their name.
Remember something funny they did.
Cook one of their favorite foods.
Look through photographs.
Tell the younger generation about them.
Our loved ones were more than the day they died.
They lived.
They laughed.
They loved.
They made mistakes.
They taught us things.
They became part of our story.
Death may have ended their earthly presence, but it cannot erase the love and memories God allowed us to share.
🕊️ The Empty Place Doesn't Mean God Has Left
Sometimes grief makes everything feel empty.
But an empty chair does not mean you have an absent God.
When the house feels quiet—
He is there.
When everyone else seems to have moved on—
He is there.
When you wake during the night missing them—
He is there.
When you sit in church fighting back tears—
He is there.
And when you have a wonderful day and laugh again—
He is there too.
God is not only the God of our sorrow.
He is also the God who gently leads us back toward hope.
🙏 Sunday Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Today I pray especially for those who are missing someone they love.
For the empty chairs, the quiet homes, the changed traditions, and the hearts that still ache—Lord, draw near.
When a hymn brings tears, comfort us.
When a memory brings laughter, help us receive it with gratitude.
When loneliness comes, remind us that we are never alone.
Thank You for every precious person You allowed us to love. Help us keep their memories alive while continuing to live the life You have given us.
Most of all, keep our eyes upon Jesus. Thank You for the hope, comfort, and promise of eternal life we have through Him.
In Jesus' precious Name,
Amen.
🌷 Sunday Grief Support Reflection
Today, finish this sentence:
“One Sunday memory I will always treasure is…”
Maybe it was church.
Sunday dinner.
Grandma's kitchen.
Daddy's favorite chair.
Momma's cooking.
A family drive.
An afternoon nap.
Or everyone simply being together.
Write that memory down or share it with someone today.
Sometimes telling the stories keeps precious family memories alive for generations to come.
🤍 Need Prayer?
You don't have to carry a difficult day by yourself. If you would like prayer, we would be honored to pray with you.
Simply write, “Please pray for me.”
đź’ś Agape Love Sunday Reminder
If you miss them a little more today, let yourself miss them. Speak their name. Tell their stories. Cry if you need to cry and smile when a beautiful memory comes. Grief is not evidence that your faith is weak—it is evidence that someone mattered deeply to your heart. And when that heart aches, remember the promise: the Lord is near to the brokenhearted.
The chair may be empty, but the memories are full—and God is still near. 💜🕊️
