"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way."— Psalm 37:23 (KJV)
☀️ Good Monday Morning, Friends!
Happy Monday!
Here we are at the beginning of another brand-new week.
Monday sometimes arrives with a long list waiting for us.
Work to do.
Appointments to keep.
Bills to pay.
People depending on us.
Decisions that need to be made.
Dreams we're still working toward.
And prayers we're still waiting to see answered.
Sometimes we look so far down the road that we become overwhelmed before we've even taken today's first step.
But here's something God has been reminding me:
You don't have to know the whole plan to take the next step.
When God called Abraham, He didn't hand him a map showing every stop along the journey.
He simply said, "Go."
When Jesus called Peter, He didn't explain everything Peter would experience.
He simply said, "Follow me."
And sometimes that's exactly how God leads us.
One prayer.
One decision.
One conversation.
One act of obedience.
One faithful step at a time.
📖 Today's Bible Reading
Psalm 37:3–5, 23–24 (KJV)
"Trust in the Lord, and do good..."
"Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass."
"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way."
"Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand."
I love that Scripture says steps.
Not leaps.
Not the entire journey.
Steps.
God knows where you're going.
He knows what you're becoming.
He knows what doors will open.
He knows which doors need to stay closed.
He knows who you'll meet along the way.
And He even knows about the detours you haven't encountered yet.
Our responsibility is simply to trust Him with today's step.
🌿 Discovering Your Calling
Stop Waiting Until You Feel Completely Ready
One thing can keep us from walking in our calling for years:
Waiting until we feel ready.
"I'll do it when I know more."
"I'll start when life settles down."
"I'll serve when I have more time."
"I'll apply when I'm more qualified."
"I'll share my testimony when I'm less nervous."
"I'll follow God's leading when I understand everything."
Friend...
You may never feel completely ready.
Moses didn't.
Gideon didn't.
Jeremiah didn't.
Esther probably didn't.
Peter certainly wasn't perfect.
Yet God used them.
Sometimes courage isn't the absence of fear.
It's saying:
"Lord, I'm afraid—but I'm going to obey You anyway."
🧠 Today's Bible Trivia
Who left his homeland after God told him to go to a land that He would show him?
A. MosesB. AbrahamC. JoshuaD. Jacob
📖 Scripture: Genesis 12:1–4
✅ Yesterday's Answer
A. Mary
While Martha was busy serving, Mary sat at Jesus' feet and listened to His words.
Jesus reminded Martha that Mary had chosen "that good part."
What a beautiful reminder from yesterday's devotional:
Before we become busy doing things for Jesus, we need to spend time with Jesus.
(Leave today's trivia answer in the comments!)
🇺🇸 Heritage & Legacy
What Are We Passing Down?
When we hear the word heritage, we often think about photographs, family recipes, heirlooms, hometowns, and stories passed from one generation to another.
Those things are precious.
But there is something even more valuable we can leave behind:
A heritage of faith.
Let your children see you pray.
Let your grandchildren hear you talk about God's faithfulness.
Tell them about prayers He answered.
Tell them about the valleys He carried you through.
Teach them Scripture.
Take them to church.
Let them know that when life becomes difficult, they can run to Jesus.
One day they may forget many of the things we bought for them.
But may they never forget the faith we demonstrated before them.
"We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord..."— Psalm 78:4 (KJV)
📜 Today in History
🇺🇸 August 10, 1846 — The Smithsonian Institution Was Established
On August 10, 1846, legislation establishing the Smithsonian Institution was signed into law.
Today, the Smithsonian preserves and shares millions of objects, documents, works of art, scientific specimens, and pieces of history.
There's something meaningful about preserving the stories of those who came before us.
It makes me wonder:
What story are we leaving behind?
Our lives are writing history every day.
May the story we leave tell future generations:
She loved God.
He served faithfully.
They loved people.
They stood for truth.
They made a difference.
🎉 Today's Holidays & Fun Observances
🦁 World Lion Day
Today raises awareness about one of God's most magnificent creatures—the lion.
Throughout Scripture, the lion is used in powerful imagery, including one of the most beautiful titles given to Jesus:
The Lion of the tribe of Juda.
"Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed..."— Revelation 5:5 (KJV)
😴 National Lazy Day
Now here's one Monday holiday some of us might happily celebrate! 😊
Although most of us probably can't spend Monday doing absolutely nothing, it is a good reminder that rest is not laziness.
Even Jesus stepped away from crowds to rest and pray.
Sometimes your body, mind, and spirit simply need time to recharge.
🍫 National S'mores Day
Now this one sounds like summertime!
Graham crackers.
Chocolate.
Toasted marshmallows.
Maybe tonight is the perfect excuse to gather the family around a firepit and make some memories.
🌻 Monday Inspiration
Just Take the Next Step
Maybe you don't know where you'll be next year.
That's okay.
Maybe you don't know exactly how your dream will happen.
That's okay.
Maybe you're praying about a decision and don't have every answer yet.
That's okay too.
God doesn't always illuminate the entire road.
Sometimes He gives enough light for one step.
Take it.
Then trust Him for the next one.
And the next.
And the next.
One day you'll look behind you and realize those tiny steps of obedience became an entire journey of faith.
💜 5 Things to Remember This Monday
🌿 You don't have to have everything figured out.
🙏 Prayer is always a good first step.
📖 God's Word will help guide your decisions.
🚪 You don't have to force doors God hasn't opened.
👣 Small steps of obedience can lead to big changes.
Most importantly:
God isn't asking you to walk tomorrow's road today.
He is simply asking you to be faithful with today.
🙏 Today's Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for bringing us into another week.
Thank You that we don't have to understand the entire journey because You already know where the road leads.
Order our steps today.
Give us wisdom in every decision.
Give us courage when You ask us to move.
Give us patience when You ask us to wait.
Close the doors that aren't meant for us and give us courage to walk through the ones You open.
Help us stop comparing our journey to someone else's.
Remind us that Your timing for our lives is perfect.
Today I pray especially for the person standing at a crossroads.
Give them clarity.
For the person beginning something new...
Give them courage.
For the person who feels behind...
Give them peace.
For the person who has fallen...
Help them get back up.
For those who are grieving...
Bring comfort.
For those who are sick...
Bring healing.
For those who feel alone...
Remind them that You are near.
Bless our families, our workplaces, our businesses, our churches, our communities, and our nation.
May everything we do this week bring honor and glory to You.
In Jesus' precious name,
Amen.
💜 Community Corner
Let's start this week encouraging one another!
🧠 Bible Trivia: Who left his homeland when God told him to go?
🙏 Prayer Requests: What can we pray with you about this week?
❤️ Monday Question: Is there a step you've felt God encouraging you to take but you've been afraid to begin?
🌻 Encouragement Challenge: Encourage one person today who is beginning something new.
You never know when your words might give someone the courage to take their next step.
🌿 Discovering Your God-Given Calling
Here's today's truth:
Your calling unfolds through obedience.
You may not receive the entire plan at once.
That's okay.
God isn't asking you to know everything.
He's asking you to trust Him.
So pray.
Listen.
Open His Word.
And when He shows you the next step...
Take it.
God can do extraordinary things with one ordinary person who simply keeps saying:
"Yes, Lord."
