Discovering Your God-Given Calling – Part 2

Called Before You Knew It

"Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee..."— Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)

🌅 Good Morning, Friends!

Happy Sunday!

I pray you're having a wonderful weekend and that your heart is ready to worship the Lord today.

Yesterday, we began our August journey of Discovering Your God-Given Calling by reminding ourselves that God created each of us with purpose.

Today, let's take that truth one step further.

Your calling didn't begin the day you discovered it.

It began in the heart of God.

Long before you took your first breath...

Long before you learned your first Bible verse...

Long before you knew what your gifts or talents were...

God already knew you.

He knew your strengths.

He knew your struggles.

He knew the victories you would celebrate and the valleys you would walk through.

And through it all, He has never taken His hand off your life.

If you've ever wondered whether your life has purpose, today's Scripture answers that question with a resounding yes.

📖 Today's Bible Reading

Jeremiah 1:4–9 (KJV)

"Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee...

Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.

But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child... for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee."

Jeremiah immediately began listing reasons why he wasn't qualified.

Sound familiar?

Many of us do the same thing.

"I'm too old."

"I'm too young."

"I'm not educated enough."

"I've made too many mistakes."

"I'm not good enough."

God isn't looking for perfect people.

He's looking for willing hearts.

When God calls us, He also equips us.

🧠 Today's Bible Trivia

Which disciple was known as "the beloved disciple"?

A. Peter

B. John

C. James

D. Andrew

🇺🇸 Heritage • History

🌎 August Heritage Highlights

This month we continue celebrating:

🤝 National Civility Month — Choosing kindness and respect in a world that often needs more of both.

🌿 National Wellness Month — Caring for our physical, emotional, and spiritual health.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 National Family Fun Month — Making time for the people God has placed in our lives.

Our greatest heritage isn't found only in buildings or history books—it's found in the faith, love, and values we pass on to the next generation.

"Train up a child in the way he should go..."— Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)

📜 Today in History

August 2, 1776

Delegates to the Continental Congress began signing the Declaration of Independence, affirming their commitment to the ideals of liberty and self-government.

Throughout history, courageous people have stepped forward to fulfill difficult callings.

As followers of Christ, may we also have the courage to stand for truth, extend grace, and faithfully follow wherever God leads us.

🎉 Today's Holidays

Today is a wonderful day to celebrate!

🌈 National Coloring Book Day — A fun reminder to slow down, be creative, and enjoy time with children and grandchildren.

🍦 August also continues to offer opportunities for family gatherings, church picnics, community events, and creating memories with those we love.

Sometimes the sweetest moments are the simplest ones.

🌻 Inspiration for Today

God isn't waiting for you to become someone else before He can use you.

He wants to use you.

Your story.

Your experiences.

Your personality.

Your gifts.

Even the chapters you'd rather forget.

Nothing in your life is wasted when it's surrendered to Him.

The very thing you thought disqualified you may become the testimony that encourages someone else.

Don't wait until you feel "ready."

Walk forward in faith.

God will meet you every step of the way.

🙏 Today's Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for knowing us before we were ever born and for creating each of us with a purpose that brings glory to You.

Help us to stop focusing on our limitations and begin trusting Your strength.

Give us ears that hear Your voice, hearts that are willing to obey, and courage to walk in the calling You have prepared for us.

Bless every person reading this today.

Strengthen the weary.

Comfort those who grieve.

Heal the sick.

Encourage those who feel forgotten.

May every life represented here discover the joy of serving You wholeheartedly.

In Jesus' precious name,

Amen.
