“And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thine hand?”— Exodus 4:2 (KJV)

☀️ Good Wednesday Morning, Friends!

Happy Wednesday!

We've made it to the middle of another week, and today I want to ask you the same question God asked Moses:

“What is that in thine hand?”

Moses saw a simple shepherd's rod.

God saw something He could use.

Isn't that just like us?

We look at what we have and think:

“It's not enough.”

“I'm not talented enough.”

“I don't have enough money.”

“I don't have enough education.”

“I don't know enough people.”

“I don't have a big platform.”

“Surely God needs someone with more than I have.”

But God has never been limited by what we lack.

He can take something ordinary, place His power upon it, and accomplish something extraordinary.

Maybe today we need to stop asking God for somebody else's gifts and start asking:

“Lord, how can You use what You've already placed in my hands?”

📖 Today's Bible Reading

Exodus 4:1–5 (KJV)

Moses was worried that people wouldn't believe God had sent him.

Then God asked:

“What is that in thine hand?”

Moses answered:

“A rod.”

It was ordinary.

It was familiar.

It was something Moses probably carried every single day.

But surrendered to God, that ordinary rod became part of an extraordinary story.

Friend, don't overlook what feels ordinary in your life.

Your ability to cook.

Your love for children.

Your business experience.

Your ability to listen.

Your writing.

Your creativity.

Your home.

Your testimony.

Your compassion.

Your voice.

Your hands.

Your time.

Your willingness to pray.

Maybe what you're calling ordinary is exactly what God wants to use.

🌿 Look at What God Used

Throughout Scripture, God repeatedly used what people already had.

🐟 A little boy had five loaves and two fishes.Jesus used them to feed thousands.

🪨 David had a sling and stones.God used them in defeating Goliath.

🫙 A widow had a little oil.God multiplied it.

🪡 Dorcas knew how to sew.She used that skill to bless people in need.

🏠 People opened their homes. Those homes became places of ministry.

🎣 Peter had a fishing boat.Jesus used it as a place from which to teach.

God doesn't always begin by putting something new in your hands.

Sometimes He says:

“Give Me what you already have.”

💜 Stop Saying “Just”

Sometimes we diminish our own gifts without realizing it.

“I'm just a mom.”

“I'm just a grandmother.”

“I just work behind the scenes.”

“I just help people.”

“I just make crafts.”

“I just write.”

“I just pray.”

Take the word just out.

If God has entrusted it to you, it matters.

A praying grandmother can change generations.

A compassionate listener can help heal a broken heart.

A teacher can influence a child for life.

A business owner can create a place where people encounter kindness.

A writer can put hope into words someone desperately needs.

A faithful Christian can introduce someone to Jesus.

Small doesn't mean insignificant.

🧠 Today's Bible Trivia

✅ Yesterday's Answer

B. Saul

Before he was widely known as the Apostle Paul, he was called Saul.

God transformed a man who had once persecuted Christians into a powerful servant of Jesus Christ.

What a reminder:

Your past does not cancel God's ability to use your future.

Leave today's trivia answer in the comments!

🇺🇸 Heritage & Legacy

The Gifts Passed From Generation to Generation

Some of life's greatest treasures never come with a price tag.

Maybe your grandmother taught you to cook.

Maybe your grandfather taught you how to build or repair things.

Maybe your mother taught you compassion.

Maybe your father taught you the value of hard work.

Maybe someone taught you how to garden, sew, preserve food, pray, serve your community, or care for a neighbor.

These simple skills become part of our heritage.

And when they're used to bless others, they become part of our legacy.

Don't underestimate the importance of teaching the next generation the things God has taught you.

“And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children...”— Deuteronomy 6:6–7 (KJV)

📜 Today in History

🇺🇸 August 12, 1851 — Isaac Singer Received a Patent for Improvements to the Sewing Machine

On August 12, 1851, Isaac Singer received a U.S. patent for improvements to the sewing machine.

The sewing machine would transform how clothing and many other fabric goods were produced.

And today's history fits beautifully with our message.

Something as ordinary as a needle and thread has been used for generations to:

🧵 Make clothing.

🧵 Create quilts.

🧵 Repair what was torn.

🧵 Provide income for families.

🧵 Make gifts.

🧵 Help people in need.

Sometimes the simplest tools can accomplish wonderful things when placed in willing hands.

🎉 Today's Holidays & Fun Observances

🐘 World Elephant Day

Today raises awareness about elephants and the importance of protecting these magnificent animals.

God's creation is filled with incredible variety, and caring for it reminds us that we are stewards of what He has made.

“The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof...”— Psalm 24:1 (KJV)

📀 National Vinyl Record Day

Today also celebrates vinyl records and the music that has provided the soundtrack to generations.

Isn't it amazing how one song can bring back an entire memory?

Music can encourage us, comfort us, and help us worship.

Maybe today is a good day to play an old favorite hymn and remember God's faithfulness through the years.

🧒 International Youth Day

Today also recognizes young people around the world and the important role they play in our communities and our future.

Let's encourage our young people.

Pray for them.

Listen to them.

Teach them.

And remind them that they don't have to wait until they're older for God to use them.

🌻 Today's Inspiration

What's in Your Hand?

Maybe you don't have much money.

But you can encourage someone.

Maybe you don't have a big platform.

But you have a family.

Maybe you can't preach.

But you can pray.

Maybe you can't travel the world as a missionary.

But you can tell your neighbor about Jesus.

Maybe you can't help everyone.

But you can help someone.

Stop waiting for what you don't have.

Look at what you do have.

Then pray:

“Lord, it's Yours. Use it.”

🌸 Little Things Become Big Things

A seed looks small until it becomes a tree.

A prayer seems small until God answers it.

An encouraging word seems small until it keeps someone from giving up.

A Bible verse seems small until someone remembers it during the darkest night of their life.

A simple invitation to church may seem small until someone's eternity changes.

A testimony may seem ordinary until the person listening realizes:

“If God helped them, maybe He can help me too.”

Never despise small beginnings.

“For who hath despised the day of small things?”— Zechariah 4:10 (KJV)

💜 5 Things You Can Give God Today

🙏 Your time — Spend part of it serving someone.

❤️ Your compassion — Notice someone who is hurting.

📖 Your testimony — Tell somebody what God has done.

👐 Your abilities — Use what you know to bless another person.

🗣️ Your voice — Encourage, pray, teach, and share Jesus.

You don't need everything.

You simply need to surrender something.

🌿 Wednesday Challenge

Today, look around your life and identify one thing God has already given you that you could use to bless somebody else.

Maybe it's an hour of your time.

A meal.

A phone call.

A skill.

A ride.

A prayer.

An encouraging message.

A listening ear.

Then use it.

Don't wait for a bigger opportunity.

Be faithful with today's opportunity.

🙏 Today's Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for another beautiful day and for every gift You have placed in our lives.

Forgive us for the times we've looked at what someone else has and overlooked what You've already given us.

Help us stop believing that our gifts are too small to matter.

Open our eyes today.

Show us what is already in our hands.

Our time.

Our abilities.

Our homes.

Our experiences.

Our resources.

Our testimonies.

Our voices.

Our compassion.

Take everything we have, Lord, and use it for Your glory.

Today I pray for the person who feels insignificant.

Remind them that they matter.

For the person who feels unqualified...

Remind them that You equip those You call.

For the person who has very little...

Show them how much You can accomplish with a surrendered heart.

Comfort those who are grieving.

Heal those who are sick.

Strengthen families.

Protect our children and young people.

Bless our churches and communities.

And help us never become so busy looking for something greater that we miss the opportunity You've placed right in front of us.

In Jesus' precious name,

Amen.

Thank you for spending part of your Wednesday with me.

Before you go, look at your hands.

You may not see much.

But neither did Moses.

He saw a rod.

God saw possibility.

So give God what you have today and trust Him with what happens next.
