“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” – John 15:13 (KJV)

Good morning, Agape Love family.

Today is more than just a Monday—it’s Memorial Day, a sacred day of remembrance. Across the nation, flags fly at half-staff, families gather, and hearts remember those who gave everything so we could live free.

At Agape Love Ministry, we believe in honoring the sacrifice, lifting up the brokenhearted, and praying for peace. Let today be filled not just with cookouts and red-white-and-blue—but with reverence, gratitude, and hope in Christ.

Christian Reflection: A Call to Remember

John 15:13 reminds us that true love is sacrificial. On this Memorial Day, we’re reminded of Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice—and of the brave men and women who modeled that same spirit of love by giving their lives for others.

 Suggested Scripture for Today:

Psalm 116:15 – “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.”

Isaiah 61:1-3 – A promise to comfort all who mourn.

Let’s spend time today praying for our country, for grieving families, and for future generations to grow up in truth and liberty.

 What is Memorial Day?

Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day, first observed after the Civil War as a time to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers with flowers, flags, and wreaths. It became an official U.S. holiday in 1971, observed on the last Monday in May.

It’s not about summer sales or burgers—though those are fun. It’s about remembering the cost of freedom.

 Ways to Honor Today

Visit a veterans’ cemetery or memorial

Say a prayer for Gold Star families (those who have lost a loved one in military service)

Place a flag or flower in your yard or church garden

Read stories of heroism aloud with your family

Pause at 3:00 PM local time for the National Moment of Remembrance

On This Day in History – May 26

1868 – The first official Decoration Day ceremony is held at Arlington National Cemetery with speeches, music, and flowers.

1942 – The United States opens the War Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.

2000 – Congress officially establishes the National Moment of Remembrance to be held each Memorial Day at 3:00 PM.

 Fun Fact of the Day

Each Memorial Day, over 260,000 American flags are placed on every grave in Arlington National Cemetery by a unit known as the “Old Guard.” It takes them less than 4 hours—and not one flag is missed. A symbol of honor, precision, and care.

Free Family Activity: "Candlelight of Gratitude"

Tonight, as the sun sets, gather outside with candles or lanterns. Take a moment to light a candle in memory of those who gave their lives. Let each person in the family say a short prayer or thank-you out loud.

You can write names of veterans on slips of paper or decorate small flags with scripture like:

2 Timothy 4:7 – “I have fought a good fight...”

Galatians 5:1 – “Stand fast... in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free.”

 Final Word of Encouragement

Freedom isn’t free. But in Jesus, we have the greatest freedom of all—eternal life and hope that never fades.

Let’s walk in thankfulness, live in purpose, and shine God’s light in a dark world.

We remember. We honor. We pray.

Happy Memorial Day, with love from all of us at Agape Love Ministry.
