Keep Writing—Even When You Can't See the Impact
Scripture
"So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void..."— Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
Have you ever shared something you poured your heart into... and heard almost nothing in return?
You wrote the devotional.
You posted the article.
You published the book.
You shared your testimony.
And then you waited.
No flood of comments.
No mountain of reviews.
No great announcement that your words had changed someone's life.
And quietly, you began to wonder:
"Lord, is anybody even reading this?"
Dear author, don't confuse silence with ineffectiveness.
You may never know how many people quietly read your words without commenting.
You may never know about the woman who cried while reading your devotional because she finally felt understood.
You may never meet the person who picked up your book during one of the hardest seasons of their life.
You may never know that one sentence you almost deleted became the very sentence someone needed that day.
Not every impact comes with applause.
Sometimes God does His greatest work quietly.
🌱 You Plant—God Gives the Increase
Paul wrote:
"I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase."— 1 Corinthians 3:6 (KJV)
What a beautiful reminder for writers.
Our job is to plant.
We write the words.
We share the testimony.
We tell the story.
We speak truth.
We offer hope.
But we cannot control what happens after the words leave our hands.
That's God's territory.
Maybe you're planting a seed today that won't bloom for years.
Maybe someone will find your book long after you've forgotten writing a particular passage.
Maybe your words will be passed from one person to another until they reach exactly the heart God intended.
You don't have to see the harvest to know the seed was worth planting.
💜 Don't Let Numbers Determine Your Calling
Our world loves numbers.
Followers.
Likes.
Shares.
Reviews.
Book sales.
But Heaven measures things differently.
If God uses something you wrote to encourage one hurting heart, was writing it worth it?
Absolutely.
If one person comes closer to Jesus because you faithfully shared your testimony, that matters eternally.
Never allow a small audience to convince you that you have a small purpose.
Jesus spoke to crowds—but He also stopped for individuals.
One soul has always mattered to God.
So keep writing for the one.
✍️ Write the Words God Gives You
Perhaps you've been tempted to change your voice because something else seems more popular.
Don't chase popularity at the expense of purpose.
Write honestly.
Write compassionately.
Write courageously.
Write biblically.
Write what God has placed upon your heart.
You may not be called to write what everyone wants to hear.
You are called to be faithful with what God has given you to say.
🙏 Wednesday Author Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for every writer You have called to use their words for Your glory.
When we become discouraged because we cannot see the results, remind us that You can work far beyond what our eyes can see.
Help us stop measuring our worth through numbers, recognition, sales, or applause.
Give us courage to continue planting seeds through every story, devotional, testimony, article, and book You place upon our hearts.
Take our words and carry them wherever You desire.
May they encourage the weary, comfort the hurting, strengthen the believer, and point the lost toward Jesus.
We surrender both the writing and the results to You.
In Jesus' precious name,
Amen.
✍️ Today's Author Challenge
Go back to something you've written that you almost gave up on.
Read it again.
Then ask:
"Lord, is there still a purpose for these words?"
If He says yes, take one step with it today.
Edit one page.
Finish one paragraph.
Share one excerpt.
Submit the manuscript.
Or simply begin writing again.
Don't bury a seed just because you haven't seen the harvest yet.
💜 Wednesday Author Roll Call
Let's support one another today!
Share something you're currently writing.
It can be a:
📚 Book title✍️ Work in progress📖 Devotional💜 Testimony🌿 Children's story📝 Blog🙏 Bible study💭 Book idea you haven't started yet
Tell us a little about it in the comments.
Then find one other author and leave them some encouragement.
Someone may need your words today just as much as a future reader needs their book.
🌸 Today's Encouragement
"You may never see every heart your words touch, but God does. Keep planting. Keep believing. Keep writing."
Dear author, your words don't have to go viral to have value.
Your book doesn't have to become a bestseller to fulfill its purpose.
Your name doesn't have to become famous for God to use your voice.
Be faithful.
Plant the seed.
Trust God with where it lands.
And tomorrow...
pick up the pen and plant another one.
Happy Wednesday & Happy Writing! 💜📖✍️
