📖 Don't Let the Lessons of Yesterday Be Forgotten Tomorrow!

🌿 Today's Scripture (KJV)

"I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old." — Psalm 77:11

☕ Good Friday morning, authors, writers, and future authors!

Have you ever wished you had written something down years ago?

Maybe it was a story your grandmother told you.

A funny conversation with your children.

A special memory with someone you loved.

A prayer God answered.

Or a lesson you learned during a difficult season.

At the time, you thought you would always remember every detail.

But as the years passed, some of those little details began to fade.

Friend, today I want to remind you that writing isn't always about creating something new. Sometimes it's about preserving something precious.

💜 Your Memories Are Part of Your Legacy

As authors, we often think about novels, devotionals, mysteries, and children's books.

But some of the most meaningful things we can write are the stories of our own families.

What was life like when you were growing up?

What did your parents and grandparents teach you?

What family traditions do you remember?

What lessons did you learn from your mistakes?

What prayers have you seen answered?

One day, your children or grandchildren may wish they could ask you those questions.

And wouldn't it be wonderful if some of those answers were already written down?

Not every meaningful story needs to become a published book. Some are meant to become treasured family keepsakes.

🌿 Remember What God Has Done

Psalm 77 reminds us of the importance of remembering the works of the Lord.

Sometimes we become so focused on today's problems that we forget the prayers God has already answered.

We forget the doors He opened.

The strength He gave us.

The people He placed in our lives.

And the ways He carried us through seasons we thought we couldn't survive.

Writing those memories down can help us remember His faithfulness.

And someday, those written testimonies may encourage another generation.

✍️ Write the Details While You Remember Them

Here's a practical suggestion.

Start a memory journal.

It doesn't have to be fancy.

A notebook will do just fine.

Write about your childhood home.

Your favorite family recipes.

The church you grew up attending.

The people who influenced your faith.

The special moments you shared with loved ones.

Write about the laughter as well as the tears.

And when you're able, include photographs, dates, and names.

The little details we take for granted today may become priceless memories tomorrow.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for another beautiful Friday and for the memories, lessons, and experiences that have shaped our lives.

Lord, help us remember Your faithfulness.

Thank You for the people who have encouraged us, taught us, and loved us along the way.

Give us wisdom as we preserve our stories.

Help us write with honesty, gratitude, and compassion.

For those remembering loved ones who are no longer with us, bring comfort and peace.

For those writing about difficult experiences, give them strength and discernment.

And for those preserving family histories, help their words become meaningful treasures for future generations.

May we never forget to give You the glory for the blessings in our lives.

In Jesus' precious name,
