Theme: Writing With a Listening HeartScripture:“Speak, Lord; for thy servant heareth.” — 1 Samuel 3:10 (KJV)
Before you ever write a word, God is already speaking. His guidance comes in gentle nudges, quiet whispers, and sudden sparks of inspiration. But to receive what He’s saying, your heart must be willing to listen.
Samuel heard God in the stillness of the night — not because he was perfect, experienced, or confident, but because he was available. He simply answered, “Speak, Lord.” That humble availability opened the door for God to pour truth into him.
As an author, this is where your greatest writing begins — not with striving, but with listening.Listening in prayer.Listening in worship.Listening in silence.Listening as God places ideas, scriptures, characters, and messages deep within your spirit.
A listening heart doesn’t rush the process. It pauses long enough to receive. It recognizes that the most powerful words are the ones God breathes into your soul.
When you begin your writing with the posture of Samuel — “Speak, Lord” — your words become more than creativity. They become revelation, comfort, and truth delivered through you by the Holy Spirit.
Reflection Prayer:
Lord, speak to me today. Quiet every distraction so I can hear Your voice clearly. Fill my heart with Your ideas, Your wisdom, and Your message. Let my writing be guided by Your voice and shaped by Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Today’s Challenge:Before writing today, take one quiet minute and whisper, “Speak, Lord. I am listening.”Then allow your words to flow from what He places on your heart.
