Palm Sunday

🌿 Palm Sunday Devotional"The Road to Redemption"Date: Sunday, April 13, 2025

šŸ“– Scripture Reading:ā€œHosanna to the Son of David!Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!Hosanna in the highest!ā€ā€” Matthew 21:9 (NKJV)

āœļø Devotional Thought:Palm Sunday is more than a celebration of Jesus entering Jerusalem—it's a powerful picture of humility, prophecy fulfilled, and love in action.

Jesus didn't enter the city as a warrior king, but as a peaceful Savior, riding on a donkey. The crowd shouted ā€œHosanna!ā€, which means ā€œsave us now!ā€, laying down palm branches and their cloaks in joyful worship. Yet, just days later, many would turn their backs on Him.

Jesus knew the cheers would turn to jeers. But He went anyway. He didn’t come to be crowned by men—He came to be crucified for them. For us.

Palm Sunday asks us a bold question: Will we still follow Jesus when He doesn't meet our expectations? Will we walk with Him through the hard places, or only cheer when things look victorious?

Let this be a day of recommitment. A day to declare:ā€œBlessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. I will follow Him—wherever He leads.ā€

šŸ•Šļø Historical Insight:Palm branches were a sign of victory and nationalism for the Jewish people, used to celebrate triumphs and significant events. Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem was a bold and prophetic fulfillment of Zechariah 9:9, which said:

ā€œSee, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkeyā€¦ā€

The people expected a conqueror. Jesus came as a suffering servant. And through that suffering, He accomplished the greatest victory of all—eternal salvation.

šŸŖž Reflection Questions:What do the words ā€œHosannaā€ and ā€œBlessed is He who comes in the name of the Lordā€ mean to you personally?

In what areas of your life are you hoping Jesus will come in and ā€œsave nowā€?

Are you willing to follow Jesus even when His path leads to surrender or discomfort?

How can you honor Jesus as King in your life this Holy Week?

šŸ™ Closing Prayer:Lord Jesus,Today I wave my palm branch in praise. I welcome You not only into my heart but into every area of my life. Forgive me when I expect You to move in ways that fit my desires. Help me to trust Your plan, even when it leads through trials. Strengthen my faith this Holy Week as I remember the cost of my redemption.Hosanna in the highest. Save now. Rule in my heart.Amen.

šŸ“Œ Weekly Challenge:Each day this week, read a portion of the Passion story (Matthew 21–28). Write down one way Jesus showed love, and ask God how you can show that same kind of love to someone around you.
