Day 53
PROPHECIES FULFILLED
[Scheduled Reading: John 18-21, Acts 1-8]
In today’s read alone, we encounter the fulfillment of four special prophecies.
First, some context.
In the Old Testament, God installed three religious festivals for the Israelites, consisting of seven separate feasts. Because we’re reading quickly and didn’t have time to study these in-depth, here's a helpful list:
Passover Feast
Feast of Unleavened Bread
Feast of Firstfruits
Pentecost (Feast of Weeks)
Feast of Trumpets
Day of Atonement
Feast of Tabernacles
Each of these feasts are loaded with symbolism. And each are prophetic. Between John 19 and Acts 2 (five chapters), the following four feasts are fulfilled:
Passover (Christ’s death on the cross)
Unleavened bread (Christ died without sin)
Feast of Firstfruits (the resurrection)
Pentecost (the coming of the Holy Spirit)
What about the remaining three feasts? Those are still yet to be fulfilled and are connected to end time events (rapture of the church, Israel’s returns to Christ, the millennial kingdom on earth).
Being on this side of history, we have the benefit of seeing that certain prophecies were fulfilled, and can be confident in the ones that remain ahead.
