Return Good For Evil

Return Good For Evil Esau's firstborn blessing was stolen by his brother Jacob (verse 27:19). He was very angry and wanted to kill his brother Jacob (verse 27:41). We are living in a fallen world. We are not perfect. Sometimes we can feel tricked just as Esau was, but he did not hold onto his unforgiveness and bitterness. He forgave his brother. When people have wronged you, lift up your hurts and negative feelings to God, Jesus will heal and comfort you. He will help you to forgive and return good for evil. Prayer: Father Lord, thank you for forgiving all our wrong doings in your sight. Help us to forgive those who have wronged us. It is not easy, but by your love and the power of Holy Spirit, we will practice to love our enemy. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Day 16

MORE BIG

[Scheduled Reading: 2 Samuel 16-24; 1 Kings 1-5]

King David’s BIG legacy continues through his son Solomon.

David must have taught his son to think BIG. And more importantly, to pray BIG (1 Kings 3).

In response to a BIG dream, a BIG offer, and a BIG ask, God gives Solomon wisdom and wealth in unprecedented proportions.

But something sad is about to happen in tomorrow’s read. A BIG fall.

Solomon turns away from God. As BIG as David’s story was, Solomon’s fall is equally devastating. Tragic.

After reaching its peak, Israel’s decline sets in and never fully recovers. The rest of the Old Testament is about Israel’s decline and desolation.

But God leaves a flickering light for a very small recovery. Just enough to keep His BIG covenant with King David… and to keep The Seed alive.
