Rolling With Grace: Day 1 — Bumps, Blessings & Thrift Finds

Well, our New Orleans adventure officially started today — and let’s just say, God kept His hand on us right from the beginning!

We were making great time this morning… until we weren’t. Just outside of Asheville, NC, the truck decided to remind us that no road trip is complete without a little hiccup. We broke down on the side of the road — but here’s the blessing: it was a minor fix, Tim knew exactly what to do, and God protected us the whole time.

A quick repair to a line, six quarts of transmission fluid, and we were back up and running. But the little detour turned into a sweet part of the adventure.

Black Mountain, NC — What a Cute Little Town!

Once we got back on the road, we stumbled across the most charming little town — Black Mountain, NC. If you know me, you know I love a good thrift store and flea market, and this place did not disappoint!

We found Thrift K Shop, a store that supports local children — such a wonderful cause. The shop was full of treasures, and knowing our shopping helped local kids made it even better.

But the kindness didn’t stop there. While grabbing a few things at the Dollar General nearby, I met the sweetest lady working there. She not only gave me a $5 coupon but even offered me a ride back to the truck! Her kindness was such a reminder that there are still good-hearted people everywhere.

Before our little roadside adventure, we had already discovered a great flea market in Morganton, NC. You know I couldn’t pass that up! There’s nothing like browsing through little booths, hunting for treasures, and enjoying the fun of it all.

Back on the Road… with Grateful Hearts

The rest of the day? Smooth sailing, praise the Lord! No more car troubles, just open road, fun stops, and counting our blessings along the way.

Sometimes, the little setbacks remind us how protected we truly are — and how the unexpected moments often become the sweetest memories.
