Rolling With Grace: Day 5 — Bayous, Gators & Cowboy Santa

What a day! Today was filled with everything I love about exploring new places — nature, history, unique treasures, and a little adventure off the beaten path.

Swamp Tour Adventures & Antique Boats

We started the day with a swamp tour and wow — what a trip! Cruising down the bayous and swamps of Louisiana, we spotted alligators, red herrings, and all kinds of wildlife. It was peaceful, exciting, and a beautiful glimpse into the heart of the South. We even saw some amazing antique boats, floating reminders of the rich history here.

There’s nothing quite like being out on the water, surrounded by cypress trees and Spanish moss, just soaking in God’s creation.

Dinner & Treasure Hunting

After our bayou adventure, we grabbed dinner at Church’s Chicken — sometimes, you just need good, simple comfort food after a long day.

Then it was time for one of my favorite activities — exploring little shops. And let me tell you, I found some real treasures today!

I couldn’t believe it when I came across a beautiful antique Lenox Christmas village with a train, complete with a Cowboy Santa, a metal frog sculpture writing a note, and the most gorgeous leather purse. These are the moments that make me smile — unexpected little finds that will remind me of this trip for years to come.

Feeding Seagulls & Exploring Lafayette Cemetery

We ended the day feeding seagulls along the way and exploring Lafayette Cemetery, one of those hauntingly beautiful, historic places that remind you how much life has passed through these streets. The history, the stories, the peaceful stillness — it was the perfect way to wind down our day.

Relaxing & Planning Our Last Day

Now, we’re back at the hotel, relaxing and planning out our last full day here tomorrow, July 3rd. It’s hard to believe the trip is winding down, but there’s still more adventure ahead — and I can’t wait to see where God leads us next.
