"Strength Made Perfect"
Scripture:
"But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me."
— 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)
Devotion:
Some days, you just feel tired. Tired of trying. Tired of fighting. Tired of holding it all together when it feels like everything is falling apart. And in those moments, it’s tempting to believe that weakness means failure.
But the truth? God meets us right there—in our weakness. He’s not asking us to be strong on our own. In fact, His power shows up best when we admit we can’t do it all.
Paul, who wrote much of the New Testament, begged God to take away a thorn in his flesh. God didn’t. Instead, He gave Paul something better: grace and the promise that divine strength would fill the gap.
Whatever “thorn” you’re dealing with today—physical pain, emotional hurt, spiritual discouragement—remember this: God isn’t waiting for you to “pull it together.” He’s offering you His strength in the exact place you feel weakest. All you need to do is receive it.
Reflection Questions:
Where do you feel weak or overwhelmed right now?
How can you invite God into that space today?
What does it mean to rely on His strength instead of your own?
Prayer:
Father, thank You that I don’t have to be strong all the time. Your strength is enough. Your grace is enough. Remind me that I’m not meant to carry this life alone. Help me lay down my pride and pick up Your power. Fill the gaps where I fall short. In Jesus’ name, amen.
