FULLY ARMORED, ALWAYS PRAYING

Our Final September Study — Put It On Daily, Live It Out Faithfully

Bible Study Fellowship (Daily) — “A deeper bible study”

📖 Today's Theme Scripture — Ephesians 6:11 (KJV)

“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

☕ GOOD MORNING & HAPPY WEDNESDAY, BIBLE STUDY FAMILY! 💜

Can you believe we have reached the final day of September?

As I was sitting here with my morning coffee, thinking about everything we've studied this month, something kept coming to my heart.

We have spent thirty days learning about the Whole Armor of God. But what happens tomorrow?

Do we put our notes away?

Do we close our Bibles?

Do we move on to another subject and forget what we've learned?

Absolutely not!

Because the Whole Armor of God isn't something we put on for thirty days and then hang in the closet.

It isn't something we wear only on Sunday mornings.

It isn't something we need only when life becomes difficult.

THE ARMOR OF GOD IS FOR EVERY DAY!

When we wake up tomorrow, we still need truth.

We still need righteousness.

We still need the Gospel of Peace.

We still need faith.

We still need the hope of salvation.

We still need God's Word.

And we certainly still need prayer!

So today, as we close our September Bible study, I want us to look back at everything we've learned and make a commitment to carry these lessons into October and beyond.

Because, friend, the end of a Bible study should never mean the end of our spiritual growth.

📖 TODAY'S SCRIPTURE READING

Take time to read these passages as we conclude our study.

  • Ephesians 6:10–20 — The Whole Armor of God and prayer

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 — Rejoice, pray, and give thanks

  • James 4:7–8 — Submit to God and draw near to Him

  • Philippians 4:6–9 — Prayer and the peace of God

  • Psalm 119:9–16 — Hiding God's Word in our hearts

  • John 15:1–8 — Abiding in Christ and bearing fruit

  • Galatians 5:16–25 — Walking in the Spirit

🛡️ 1. THE BELT OF TRUTH — KNOW WHAT YOU BELIEVE

Ephesians 6:14 tells us:

“Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth...”

We began learning that truth is essential to standing firm.

We live in a world filled with opinions, changing values, misleading information, and competing voices.

But our faith must be grounded in God's Word.

Sometimes our feelings tell us one thing.

Sometimes other people tell us something different.

Sometimes the world tells us that whatever makes us happy must be right.

But we need to ask:

WHAT DOES GOD'S WORD SAY?

The Belt of Truth reminds us to know Scripture, recognize deception, and live honestly.

And here's something important.

Truth isn't only something we defend.

TRUTH IS SOMETHING WE MUST LIVE.

Are we honest when nobody is watching?

Are we truthful in our conversations?

Do our words match our actions?

Do we study Scripture for ourselves?

As we move into October, don't take off the Belt of Truth.

Keep studying.

Keep learning.

Keep allowing God's Word to guide you.

❤️ 2. THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS — GUARD YOUR HEART

Ephesians 6:14 continues:

“...and having on the breastplate of righteousness;”

We spent an entire week learning about righteousness, integrity, repentance, and guarding our hearts.

And one of the most important lessons was this:

Our salvation rests upon the righteousness of Jesus Christ, not our ability to make ourselves perfect.

But the grace that saves us also calls us to live differently.

We learned to examine our hearts.

To confess sin.

To choose integrity.

To forgive.

To guard against bitterness.

To allow God to change our attitudes.

And remember our final lesson from that week?

Psalm 51:10:

“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”

Friend, that prayer should not end with September.

We should continue asking:

“Lord, search my heart.”

“Lord, show me what needs to change.”

“Lord, help me live in a way that honors You.”

Because what we allow to grow in our hearts eventually influences our words, attitudes, and actions.

And that leads beautifully into tomorrow's study of the Fruit of the Spirit!

👣 3. THE SHOES OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE — WATCH WHERE YOU WALK

Ephesians 6:15 says:

“And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;”

We learned that God has called us to carry the good news of Jesus Christ.

Not simply to talk about peace.

But to walk in it.

To share the Gospel.

To encourage the hurting.

To speak truth with love.

To seek peace where possible.

And to remember that being a peacemaker doesn't mean allowing others to mistreat us or compromising what is right.

Friend, think about everywhere your feet may take you today.

Your home.

Your workplace.

The grocery store.

The doctor's office.

Your neighborhood.

Church.

Every one of those places may provide an opportunity to demonstrate the love of Jesus.

Maybe someone needs a kind word.

Maybe someone needs prayer.

Maybe someone needs to hear your testimony.

Maybe someone simply needs to know that somebody cares.

WHEREVER YOUR FEET TAKE YOU, LET YOUR LIFE POINT PEOPLE TOWARD JESUS.

🛡️ 4. THE SHIELD OF FAITH — TRUST GOD WHEN THE BATTLE COMES

Ephesians 6:16 says:

“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”

Oh, what a powerful lesson this was!

We talked about fear.

Doubt.

Discouragement.

Temptation.

And those difficult seasons when we cannot see what lies ahead.

We learned that faith doesn't mean pretending everything is fine.

It doesn't mean we never cry.

It doesn't mean we never struggle.

And it certainly doesn't mean every prayer will be answered exactly the way we hoped.

Faith means continuing to trust God because of who He is.

Psalm 56:3 says:

“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”

I love that verse.

David acknowledged his fear, but he chose to trust God.

Friend, as we move into a new month, there may still be unanswered prayers.

There may still be difficult circumstances.

There may still be things we don't understand.

But we can keep lifting our Shield of Faith.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO KNOW WHAT TOMORROW HOLDS TO TRUST THE GOD WHO WILL BE WITH YOU TOMORROW.

🪖 5. THE HELMET OF SALVATION — REMEMBER WHOSE YOU ARE

Ephesians 6:17 says:

“And take the helmet of salvation...”

We learned how important it is to guard our minds.

We talked about the thoughts we entertain, the messages we believe, and the labels we allow others to place upon us.

Sometimes people spend years believing they're not good enough.

Not talented enough.

Not important enough.

Or that their past mistakes have made them unworthy of God's grace.

But the Gospel reminds us that salvation comes through Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:8 says:

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”

Friend, don't build your identity entirely upon your accomplishments, failures, job title, appearance, or other people's opinions.

If you belong to Christ, remember the hope you have in Him.

And when troubling thoughts come, return to Scripture.

GUARD YOUR MIND WITH GOD'S TRUTH AND THE HOPE OF SALVATION.

⚔️ 6. THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT — KEEP YOUR BIBLE OPEN

Ephesians 6:17 continues:

“...and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”

Monday and Tuesday, we studied the Sword of the Spirit.

We learned that owning a Bible and knowing the Bible are two different things.

We also studied how Jesus responded to temptation in the wilderness.

Again and again, He said:

“IT IS WRITTEN.”

What an important lesson!

We need to know what Scripture says.

We need to understand it in context.

We need to recognize when God's Word is being misused.

And we need to apply what we learn.

Friend, please don't let your Bible become something you open only when we post a new study.

Read it daily.

Study it.

Ask questions.

Write down what you're learning.

Memorize Scripture.

And allow the Word to shape your life.

A DEEPER BIBLE STUDY SHOULD LEAD TO A DEEPER WALK WITH JESUS.

🙏 7. PRAYING ALWAYS — THE PART WE MUST NEVER FORGET

Now we come to our final lesson.

After describing the armor, Paul continues in Ephesians 6:18:

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”

Notice something.

Paul doesn't finish describing the armor and then tell us to rely upon ourselves.

He calls us to prayer.

Prayer is not presented as another physical piece of armor, but it is essential to the spiritual life Paul describes.

We need God's strength.

God's wisdom.

God's guidance.

God's help.

And we need to remain dependent upon Him.

WE WERE NEVER MEANT TO STAND IN OUR OWN STRENGTH.

Ephesians 6:10 says:

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”

Not our might.

HIS MIGHT.

Friend, we can know Scripture, attend church, serve others, and participate in Bible studies.

But we still need prayer.

Not just when something goes wrong.

Not just when we're frightened.

Not just when we need something.

We need an ongoing relationship with God.

🌿 8. WHAT DOES “PRAYING ALWAYS” REALLY MEAN?

First Thessalonians 5:17 says:

“Pray without ceasing.”

Does that mean we have to spend every moment on our knees?

No.

It means cultivating a life of continual dependence upon God.

We can pray while getting ready in the morning.

While driving.

While working.

While preparing supper.

While walking.

While sitting quietly.

We can offer short prayers throughout the day.

“Lord, give me patience.”

“Lord, help me make the right decision.”

“Lord, give me wisdom.”

“Lord, help me speak kindly.”

“Lord, thank You for this blessing.”

“Lord, please help that family.”

Prayer doesn't have to be long or filled with impressive words.

God isn't looking for a performance.

He invites us to come to Him sincerely.

And don't forget that Ephesians 6:18 calls us to pray for all saints.

Our prayers shouldn't focus only on ourselves.

Pray for your family.

Your church.

Your neighbors.

Those who are grieving.

Those who are sick.

Those who are struggling.

Those who are serving the Lord.

And those who need to know Jesus.

A FULLY ARMORED CHRISTIAN SHOULD ALSO BE A PRAYING CHRISTIAN.

🌻 9. DON'T TAKE YOUR ARMOR OFF WHEN LIFE GETS COMFORTABLE

Now here's something I really want us to think about.

Sometimes we're very faithful in seeking God when life becomes difficult.

When the trouble comes, we pray.

When we're afraid, we open our Bibles.

When we need an answer, we seek His guidance.

But what happens when everything settles down?

Do we continue seeking Him?

Or do we slowly become distracted?

Friend, spiritual growth isn't only for difficult seasons.

We need God on the good days too.

We need His Word when things are going well.

We need prayer when we're celebrating.

We need truth when we're comfortable.

We need faith when the road seems easy.

And we need to keep growing even when there isn't an obvious battle in front of us.

DON'T WAIT UNTIL LIFE GETS HARD TO REMEMBER YOUR ARMOR.

Put it on daily.

🍇 10. FROM THE ARMOR OF GOD TO THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT

And now I want to share why I'm so excited about tomorrow!

As I was preparing our studies and thinking about October, the Fruit of the Spirit came to my heart.

And the more I thought about it, the more beautifully these two studies seemed to connect.

During September, we learned how to stand firm in the Lord.

Now, during October, we're going to study what it looks like when the Holy Spirit produces fruit in our lives.

Think about it.

We can know the truth—but are we speaking it with love?

We can talk about righteousness—but are we showing goodness?

We can carry the Gospel of Peace—but are we allowing God's peace to influence our attitudes?

We can lift our Shield of Faith—but are we demonstrating faithfulness in everyday life?

We can know Scripture—but are we becoming more gentle, patient, and self-controlled?

The armor teaches us to stand firm in the Lord.

The Fruit of the Spirit shows the character the Holy Spirit produces as we walk with Him.

And we need both.

Galatians 5:22–23 says:

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”

Friend, I am excited to begin studying these nine qualities with you tomorrow!

Because I don't want us simply to know more about Jesus.

I WANT US TO KEEP GROWING TO BE MORE LIKE JESUS.

💜 TODAY'S REFLECTION QUESTIONS

As we close September, take time to examine what you've learned.

  1. Which piece of the Whole Armor of God has spoken to me most this month?

  2. Have I become more intentional about studying Scripture?

  3. Am I allowing God's truth to guide my decisions?

  4. Is there an area of my heart where I need repentance or healing?

  5. Am I carrying the Gospel of Peace into my everyday relationships?

  6. What situation is challenging my Shield of Faith?

  7. Am I guarding my thoughts with the hope of salvation?

  8. Have I been using God's Word to guide my responses?

  9. Is prayer a regular part of my day or something I turn to only during difficulties?

  10. What is one spiritual habit I want to carry into October?

🙏 OUR FINAL SEPTEMBER PRAYER

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for bringing us through another month.

Thank You for every opportunity we've had to open Your Word, learn more about You, and grow in our faith.

Lord, as we close our study of the Whole Armor of God, help us remember that these lessons are not simply something to read and forget.

Help us live them.

Every morning, remind us to stand in Your truth.

Help us put on the Breastplate of Righteousness and guard our hearts.

Prepare our feet with the Gospel of Peace so we can carry Your love wherever we go.

Strengthen our Shield of Faith when fear, doubt, and discouragement come.

Help us guard our minds with the hope of salvation.

Teach us to use the Sword of the Spirit by reading, understanding, and obeying Your Word.

And Father, help us become people of prayer.

Not just when life is difficult.

Not just when we need an answer.

But every day, in every season.

Lord, I also want to thank You for the Bible Study Family You've brought together.

Bless each person who reads these studies.

Encourage those who are hurting.

Strengthen those who are weary.

Comfort those who are grieving.

Guide those who are searching for direction.

And draw each of us closer to Jesus.

As we begin October tomorrow, prepare our hearts for our study of the Fruit of the Spirit.

Show us where we need to grow.

Prune away attitudes and habits that hinder us.

Teach us to abide in Christ.

And let our lives bear fruit that brings glory to You.

In Jesus' precious name,

Amen.

🌟 OUR FINAL SEPTEMBER ENCOURAGEMENT

Friend, I hope you've enjoyed this journey as much as I have.

We've studied some wonderful truths this month.

But I don't want September to be remembered simply as the month we learned about spiritual armor.

I want it to be the month we began making a greater commitment to stand firm in the Lord.

Maybe you've started reading your Bible more consistently.

Maybe you've become more aware of your thoughts.

Maybe you've been learning to respond with patience instead of anger.

Maybe you've been trusting God through a difficult situation.

Maybe you've started praying more often.

Whatever growth God has been working in your life, keep going.

Spiritual maturity is not something we complete in thirty days.

It is a lifelong journey of following Jesus.

And tomorrow we begin another beautiful opportunity to grow.
