š A HUMBLE HEART
Less of Me and More of Jesus
October Theme: The Fruit of the Spirit
š TODAY'S SCRIPTURE ā John 3:30 (KJV)
āHe must increase, but I must decrease.ā
ā Good morning & Happy Thursday, Bible Study Family!Ā š
God is so, so good!
Yesterday we studied MEEKNESS ā Strength Under God's Control.
Today we're taking that lesson a little deeper and talking about something we all need to work on from time to time:
HUMILITY.
Have you ever found yourself wanting to have the last word?
Wanting someone to recognize everything you've done?
Feeling hurt because someone else received the credit?
Or struggling to admit that maybe, just maybe, you were wrong?
Friend, if we're truthful, we've probably all experienced those moments!
Pride has a way of quietly slipping into our hearts, sometimes without us even realizing it.
But John the Baptist gave us a beautiful reminder:
āHe must increase, but I must decrease.ā
What a powerful way to live!
šæ HUMILITY ISN'T THINKING YOU'RE WORTHLESS
Sometimes people misunderstand humility.
Being humble doesn't mean believing you're unimportant or that your gifts don't matter.
God created you with purpose.
He has given you abilities, opportunities, and a life that matters.
But humility means recognizing that everything we have is ultimately a gift from God.
It's understanding that our accomplishments aren't reasons to look down on others.
It's being willing to serve without needing applause.
And it's remembering that our lives should point people toward Jesus, not simply toward ourselves.
Humility isn't thinking less of your value. It's making more room for Jesus in your heart.
ā¤ļø JESUS SHOWED US TRUE HUMILITY
Philippians 2:5 (KJV) says:
āLet this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:ā
Jesus, the Son of God, humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
He washed His disciples' feet.
He showed compassion to those others overlooked.
He served rather than demanding to be served.
And He taught us that greatness in God's kingdom looks very different from greatness in the world.
Friend, if Jesus was willing to humble Himself and serve others, shouldn't we be willing to do the same?
š» PRIDE CAN QUIETLY HINDER OUR GROWTH
Proverbs 16:18 (KJV) says:
āPride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.ā
Sometimes pride doesn't look like bragging.
Sometimes it looks like refusing to apologize.
Always needing to be right.
Comparing ourselves with others.
Becoming jealous when someone else succeeds.
Or believing we no longer need correction.
But a humble heart remains teachable.
Spiritual maturity isn't reaching a place where we have nothing left to learn. It's remaining willing to let God continue changing us.
š LET JESUS BE SEEN IN YOU
What would happen if we began each day with this prayer?
āLord, let there be less of my pride and more of Your love.ā
Less complaining and more gratitude.
Less criticism and more compassion.
Less selfishness and more service.
Less worrying about recognition and more concern about honoring God.
That's what it means to let Jesus increase in our lives.
Not that we become less valuable, but that His character becomes more visible through us.
š TODAY'S PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for another beautiful Thursday.
Lord, search my heart and reveal any pride that may be keeping me from growing closer to You.
Forgive me when I become too focused on being right, receiving recognition, or having things my own way.
Teach me to serve with humility, speak with kindness, and remain willing to learn.
Help me celebrate others instead of comparing myself with them.
Give me the courage to admit when I'm wrong and the grace to apologize when necessary.
And above all, Lord, let there be less of my selfishness and more of Jesus reflected in my life.
In Jesus' precious name,
Amen.Ā š
š· TODAY'S HUMILITY CHALLENGE
Today, practice three simple things:
šæ LISTENĀ without needing to have the last word.
ā¤ļø ENCOURAGEĀ someone else and celebrate something good happening in their life.
š SERVEĀ someone without expecting recognition.
Then ask yourself:
āAm I trying to make my name greater, or am I allowing Jesus to become greater in my life?ā
š¬ QUESTION FOR OUR BIBLE STUDY FAMILY:
What is one way we can practice humility in our everyday lives?
Share your thoughts in the comments. Your encouragement may help someone else grow today! š
š» TODAY'S REMINDER
Friend, you don't have to prove yourself to everyone.
You don't have to receive credit for everything you do.
You don't have to win every argument.
And you don't have to compare your journey to someone else's.
God knows your heart.
He sees your efforts.
And He continues working in you as you surrender your life to Him.
Remember the words of John the Baptist:
š āHE MUST INCREASE, BUT I MUST DECREASE.ā
Less pride. More grace.
Less selfishness. More love.
Less of me. More of Jesus.
Have a beautifully blessed Thursday, Bible Study Family! šāļø
