Stay Focused on the Calling
Scripture:
Hebrews 12:1 (KJV)
"...let us run with patience the race that is set before us,"
Colossians 3:23 (KJV)
"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;"
Galatians 6:4 (KJV)
"But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another."
As writers, it is easy to become distracted.
We compare our progress with others.
We worry about followers, reviews, and recognition.
We wonder why someone else's journey seems easier or faster.
And before long, we lose sight of the reason God called us to write in the first place.
But God never asked you to run someone else's race.
He asked you to faithfully run yours.
Hebrews reminds us that each of us has a race that has been set before us.
A unique journey.
A unique calling.
A unique message.
No one else can tell your story the way God has equipped you to tell it.
No one else has your testimony.
No one else has your voice.
And no one else has the exact purpose God has designed for your life.
Colossians reminds us that our work is ultimately for the Lord.
Not for applause.
Not for recognition.
Not for bestseller lists.
But for Him.
When we remember who we are writing for, we stop measuring ourselves by worldly standards and begin measuring success by faithfulness.
Galatians encourages us to focus on our own work rather than comparing ourselves with others.
Comparison steals joy.
Comparison creates discouragement.
And comparison often blinds us to the blessings God has already given us.
So today, refocus.
Remember why you began.
Remember who called you.
And remember Who you are writing for.
Stay faithful to the assignment God has given you.
Because while others may have different stories to tell, no one can fulfill the purpose God has prepared specifically for you.
And the Author of your story never makes mistakes.
Daily Reflection
đź’ś Am I focusing on my calling or comparing myself to others?
đź’ś Have I lost sight of why I started writing?
đź’ś Who am I ultimately writing for?
đź’ś What distractions do I need to set aside?
đź’ś How can I faithfully use the gifts God has given me?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the unique story and purpose You have given me. Forgive me for the times I have compared myself to others or become distracted by things that do not matter. Help me to remain faithful to the calling You have placed on my life. Teach me to write for Your glory and to trust You with the results. In Jesus' name, Amen.
