Living With Integrity and Reflecting the Heart of Jesus
October Theme: The Fruit of the Spirit
š TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
āBut the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,āGalatians 5:22 (KJV)
ā Good morning & Happy Friday, Bible Study Family!Ā š
God is so, so good!
Yesterday we talked about the power of our words and how something as simple as encouragement can become a ministry.
Today we're moving to another beautiful Fruit of the Spirit:
šæ GOODNESS.
Now, when we hear the word goodness, we often think about doing nice things for people.
And that's certainly part of it!
But biblical goodness goes deeper.
It's about the condition of our hearts.
It's about choosing honesty when dishonesty would be easier.
Choosing kindness when nobody would blame us for being unkind.
Doing what's right even when nobody is watching.
And remaining faithful to God when there's no applause, recognition, or reward.
Goodness is not just about what people see us doing. It's about who we are becoming through Jesus Christ.
š WHO ARE WE WHEN NOBODY IS LOOKING?
Here's a question worth thinking about today:
Would we make the same choices if nobody ever knew what we did?
Would we still tell the truth?
Would we return something that didn't belong to us?
Would we help someone who couldn't repay us?
Would we refuse to participate in gossip?
Would we treat someone kindly even if they couldn't offer us anything in return?
Friend, that's where integrity begins.
Proverbs 10:9 (KJV) says:
āHe that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.ā
God sees the things other people never notice.
The quiet acts of kindness.
The honest decisions.
The prayers offered in secret.
The temptation resisted.
The right choice made when the wrong one would have been easier.
And those things matter to Him.
š» GOODNESS BEGINS WITH GOD
Psalm 34:8 (KJV) says:
āO taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.ā
True goodness begins with God.
We aren't saved because we've done enough good things.
We're saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
But when we belong to Him, His Spirit begins changing the way we live.
Ephesians 2:10 reminds us that we are created in Christ Jesus unto good works.
Good works don't purchase our salvation.
They are part of the life God calls us to live because we belong to Him.
ā¤ļø SMALL ACTS OF GOODNESS MATTER
Sometimes we think we have to do something extraordinary to make a difference.
But goodness often appears in ordinary moments.
š· Helping someone carry groceries.
ā¤ļø Checking on a lonely neighbor.
š Praying for someone who is struggling.
š Choosing honesty when it costs us something.
š» Encouraging someone who feels forgotten.
𤲠Helping without expecting anything in return.
And sometimes goodness simply means refusing to do something we know is wrong.
Galatians 6:9 (KJV) says:
āAnd let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.ā
Friend, don't become discouraged because your kindness goes unnoticed.
God sees the good that nobody else sees.
šæ GOODNESS ALSO REQUIRES COURAGE
Being good doesn't mean always agreeing with everyone.
Sometimes goodness requires us to stand for what's right.
To tell the truth.
To admit when we've made a mistake.
To refuse to participate in something dishonest.
To protect someone being mistreated.
And to choose obedience to God even when it isn't popular.
We can do those things with humility, wisdom, and love.
Goodness isn't simply being pleasant. It's allowing God's truth to shape our character.
š TODAY'S PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for another beautiful Friday and for Your goodness and mercy.
Lord, help me become someone who chooses what is right, even when nobody is watching.
Search my heart and reveal anything that does not honor You.
Help me walk in honesty, kindness, integrity, and compassion.
Forgive me for the times I've chosen what was easy instead of what was right.
Teach me to do good without expecting recognition.
Give me courage to stand for truth and wisdom to treat others with love.
Let my actions reflect the goodness of Jesus.
And may everything I do bring glory to Your name.
In Jesus' precious name,
Amen.Ā š
š» TODAY'S GOODNESS CHALLENGE
Today, practice three quiet acts of goodness.
ā¤ļø DO SOMETHING KINDĀ for someone without expecting anything in return.
šæ CHOOSE INTEGRITYĀ in a situation where taking the easy way out might be tempting.
š DO SOMETHING GOOD IN SECRETĀ without telling anyone or seeking recognition.
Then ask yourself:
āAm I doing this to be noticed, or am I doing it because I want to honor God?ā
š¬ QUESTION FOR OUR BIBLE STUDY FAMILY:
Has someone ever shown you an unexpected act of kindness that you never forgot?
Share your experience in the comments. Your testimony may inspire someone else to do good today! š
š· TODAY'S REMINDER
Friend, the world may measure goodness by recognition, popularity, or accomplishments.
But God looks at the heart.
You don't have to be famous to make a difference.
You don't need a large audience to serve Jesus.
And you don't need applause to do what's right.
Sometimes the most beautiful evidence of the Fruit of the Spirit is found in the quiet decisions nobody else sees.
The truth you chose to tell.
The kindness you showed.
The wrong you refused to do.
The person you helped.
The forgiveness you offered.
The integrity you maintained.
š» DO GOOD WHEN PEOPLE ARE WATCHING.
š DO GOOD WHEN NOBODY IS WATCHING.
šæ AND LET YOUR LIFE POINT OTHERS TO JESUS.
Because true goodness isn't about making ourselves look good.
It's about reflecting the goodness of the God we serve.
Have a beautifully blessed Friday, Bible Study Family! šāļø
