Letting His Light Shine Through You
October Theme: The Fruit of the Spirit
š TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
āLet your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.āMatthew 5:16 (KJV)
ā Good morning & Happy Sunday, Bible Study Family!Ā š
God is so, so good!
As we close out another week of studying the Fruit of the Spirit, I want us to think about something important.
This week we've learned about:
ā³ LONGSUFFERINGĀ ā Showing patience when waiting is difficult and when people test us.
š· GENTLENESSĀ ā Responding with kindness, compassion, and a tender heart.
š» GOODNESSĀ ā Choosing what is right and putting our faith into action.
But here's the question I want us to consider today:
Are these qualities making a difference in the lives of the people around us?
Because spiritual fruit isn't meant to be admired from a distance.
šæ IT'S MEANT TO BE LIVED OUT.
ā¤ļø YOUR LIFE MAY BE THE ENCOURAGEMENT SOMEONE NEEDS
Have you ever met someone who just seemed to make your day a little brighter?
Someone who greeted you with a genuine smile?
Someone who took time to listen?
Someone who spoke words of encouragement when you were struggling?
Or someone who quietly stepped in to help without expecting anything in return?
Friend, that's the kind of influence we can have when we allow the Holy Spirit to work through us.
Sometimes the greatest testimony isn't a long conversation.
It's the way we treat people.
The patience we show.
The kindness we offer.
The good we choose to do.
People may forget what we say, but they often remember how we made them feel.
š» LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE ā NOT FOR ATTENTION, BUT FOR GOD'S GLORY
Jesus said:
āLet your light so shine before menā¦ā
But notice the purpose:
āā¦and glorify your Father which is in heaven.ā
Our goal isn't to make people think we're wonderful.
Our goal is to help people see the goodness of God.
There's a difference between doing something kind because we want recognition and doing it because we love Jesus.
Sometimes our good works will be noticed.
Sometimes they won't.
But either way, they matter.
We aren't called to be the center of attention. We're called to point people toward Christ.
š YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE PERFECT TO BE A BLESSING
Sometimes we become discouraged because we know we still have areas that need work.
Maybe we're still learning patience.
Maybe we struggle with our words.
Maybe we sometimes allow frustration to get the best of us.
Friend, spiritual growth doesn't mean we never make mistakes.
It means we're willing to let God correct us, teach us, and change us.
Philippians 1:6 (KJV) reminds us:
āBeing confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:ā
God is still working in us.
And while He's working in us, He can also work throughĀ us.
You don't have to wait until you feel like a perfect Christian to show someone kindness.
You can begin today.
šæ START WHERE GOD HAS PLACED YOU
You don't have to travel across the world to make a difference.
Start in your own home.
Your neighborhood.
Your church.
Your workplace.
Your community.
Maybe someone needs a phone call.
Maybe someone needs a meal.
Maybe someone needs encouragement.
Maybe someone needs forgiveness.
Maybe someone simply needs to know they haven't been forgotten.
And sometimes the greatest blessing we can offer is taking time to listen without judgment.
A life that blesses others is built through ordinary acts of love, patience, gentleness, and goodness.
š TODAY'S PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for another beautiful Sunday and another opportunity to worship You.
Lord, help me become a blessing to the people around me.
Grow patience in my heart when situations are difficult.
Teach me to speak with gentleness and compassion.
Help me choose goodness even when nobody is watching.
Open my eyes to those who are hurting, lonely, discouraged, or in need.
Forgive me for the times I've been too distracted or focused on myself to notice someone else's struggles.
Let my words encourage.
Let my actions demonstrate love.
And let my life reflect the light of Jesus.
May the good I do never be about receiving praise for myself, but about bringing glory to You.
In Jesus' precious name,
Amen.Ā š
š» TODAY'S CHALLENGE
Today, practice all three qualities we've studied this week:
ā³ SHOW PATIENCE:Ā Give someone grace when things don't go as planned.
š· SHOW GENTLENESS:Ā Speak kindly to someone who may be having a difficult day.
š» SHOW GOODNESS:Ā Do one thoughtful act of kindness without expecting anything in return.
Then pray:
āLord, let someone see Your love through my life today.ā
š¬ QUESTION FOR OUR BIBLE STUDY FAMILY:
Who has been a blessing in your life through their kindness, patience, or goodness?
If you're comfortable, share how they made a difference. Your story may encourage someone else to become that kind of blessing today! š
š· SUNDAY ENCOURAGEMENT
Friend, we never know what someone else may be facing.
The person sitting beside us at church may be grieving.
The cashier who smiles may be exhausted.
The neighbor who seems quiet may be lonely.
The family member who is struggling may need a little extra patience.
We cannot fix every problem.
But we can offer kindness.
We can pray.
We can listen.
We can serve.
And we can point people toward Jesus.
Remember, a candle doesn't have to be enormous to bring light into a dark room.
And you don't have to do something extraordinary to make a meaningful difference.
š» BE THE REASON SOMEONE FEELS ENCOURAGED.
š BE THE PERSON WHO CHOOSES KINDNESS.
āļø BE A LIGHT THAT POINTS OTHERS TO JESUS.
Because a life surrendered to the Holy Spirit can become a beautiful blessing to others.
Have a wonderfully blessed Sunday, Bible Study Family!
If you're able, spend some time worshiping with your church family today. Encourage someone, greet someone who may feel overlooked, and remember that fellowship is one more opportunity to share the love of Christ. š
šæ TOMORROW ā MONDAY, OCTOBER 19
FAITH ā TRUSTING GOD BEYOND WHAT YOU CAN SEE
Tomorrow we begin studying the next Fruit of the Spirit: FAITH.
We'll explore what it means to trust God when the path ahead is uncertain, how faith grows through our daily walk with Jesus, and why we can continue trusting Him even when we don't have all the answers.
