READY WITH THE GOSPEL OF PEACE

Walking Into the World With the Peace of Jesus

September Theme: Put On the Whole Armor of God

Week Four: The Gospel of Peace, Shield of Faith & Helmet of Salvation

šŸ“– Today's Theme Scripture

ā€œAnd your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;ā€

— Ephesians 6:15 (KJV)

ā˜• GOOD MORNING & HAPPY MONDAY!

I was sitting here thinking about shoes this morning.

Now, I don't know about you, but I have different shoes for different occasions.

There are shoes for church.

Shoes for work.

Shoes for shopping.

Shoes for working outside.

And then there are those comfortable shoes we reach for when we know we're going to be on our feet all day!

But one thing I've learned is that if you're planning to walk very far, you had better have the right shoes on.

Because it doesn't matter how beautiful those shoes look if they aren't made for the journey.

And that brings me to today's Bible study.

When Paul described the whole armor of God, he didn't stop with the Belt of Truth and the Breastplate of Righteousness.

He told us to prepare our feet.

Why?

Because the Christian life isn't meant to be lived standing in one place.

GOD HAS CALLED US TO WALK WITH HIM.

And as we walk, we are to carry something this world desperately needs.

Not more hatred.

Not more division.

Not more fear.

Not more arguing.

But the wonderful news of Jesus Christ.

THE GOSPEL OF PEACE.

šŸ“– TODAY'S SCRIPTURE READING

  • Ephesians 6:10–18 — The whole armor of God

  • Isaiah 52:7 — Beautiful feet that bring good tidings

  • Romans 5:1–11 — Peace with God through Jesus Christ

  • Romans 10:13–17 — Hearing and sharing the Gospel

  • John 14:25–27 — The peace Jesus gives

  • John 16:33 — Peace in the midst of tribulation

  • Philippians 4:4–9 — God's peace guarding our hearts and minds

  • Colossians 3:12–17 — Letting the peace of God rule in our hearts

šŸ›”ļø 1. WHY DID GOD INCLUDE SHOES IN THE ARMOR?

Think about a soldier preparing for battle.

He could have the strongest breastplate.

The best shield.

A sharp sword.

But if his feet weren't properly protected, he would have difficulty standing, walking, or moving safely.

The footwear of a Roman soldier was designed to help him maintain footing as he traveled and stood his ground.

Paul uses that picture to teach us something spiritually.

We need to be prepared.

We need to be grounded.

We need to know where we're standing.

And we need to be ready to go wherever God leads.

Ephesians 6:15 says:

ā€œAnd your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;ā€

Notice that word:

PREPARATION.

Friend, we shouldn't wait until the middle of a difficult situation to begin preparing our hearts.

We need to be spending time with Jesus before the trouble comes.

Reading His Word.

Praying.

Learning His promises.

Understanding the Gospel.

Growing in our relationship with Him.

Because when the difficult days arrive, we need to know where our feet are planted.

āœļø 2. THE GOSPEL IS THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS CHRIST

Before we can carry the Gospel of Peace, we need to understand what the Gospel is.

The Gospel is not simply:

ā€œBe a good person.ā€

ā€œGo to church.ā€

ā€œTry harder.ā€

ā€œDo more good things than bad things.ā€

The Gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ came to save sinners.

He died for our sins.

He was buried.

He rose again the third day.

And through Him, we can receive forgiveness and be reconciled to God.

Romans 5:1 says:

ā€œTherefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:ā€

That is where true peace begins.

PEACE WITH GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST.

We can have a peaceful home, a comfortable life, and everything going our way, yet still need the peace that comes through salvation.

And we can be walking through tremendous difficulty while knowing that our relationship with God is secure in Christ.

That is why the Gospel is such wonderful news.

šŸ•Šļø 3. THE PEACE JESUS GIVES IS DIFFERENT FROM THE PEACE THE WORLD OFFERS

John 14:27 says:

ā€œPeace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.ā€

Did you notice that?

Jesus said:

ā€œMY PEACE.ā€

Not the world's peace.

Not temporary peace.

Not peace that depends upon everything going our way.

His peace.

The world often tells us that peace comes when everything is settled.

When the bills are paid.

When the medical tests come back.

When the family problems are resolved.

When the difficult person changes.

When the storm passes.

But Jesus offers peace that can sustain us even before those things happen.

That doesn't mean we never feel afraid.

It doesn't mean we never cry.

It doesn't mean we never struggle.

It means we have somewhere to take those feelings.

PEACE IS NOT THE ABSENCE OF TROUBLE.

IT IS THE PRESENCE OF JESUS IN THE MIDDLE OF IT.

🌿 4. YOU CANNOT CARRY WHAT YOU REFUSE TO RECEIVE

This is something I want us to think about today.

Sometimes we want to encourage everybody else.

We want to tell them:

ā€œTrust God.ā€

ā€œDon't worry.ā€

ā€œHave faith.ā€

ā€œGod is in control.ā€

But privately, we're carrying every burden ourselves.

We're exhausted.

We're overwhelmed.

We're trying to fix everything.

And we're allowing fear to make our decisions.

Friend, before we go out trying to share God's peace with everybody else, we need to spend time receiving His peace ourselves.

Philippians 4:6–7 reminds us to bring our requests before God with thanksgiving.

And then it says:

ā€œAnd the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.ā€

God's peace can guard our hearts and minds.

But we have to bring our burdens to Him.

Not just talk about prayer.

PRAY.

Not just tell others to trust.

TRUST.

Not just read about peace.

REST IN THE ONE WHO GIVES IT.

ā¤ļø 5. PEACE DOESN'T MEAN PRETENDING NOTHING IS WRONG

I want to make this clear.

Being a peaceful Christian doesn't mean allowing people to mistreat you.

It doesn't mean avoiding every difficult conversation.

It doesn't mean remaining silent when something needs to be addressed.

It doesn't mean pretending you're not hurting.

And it doesn't mean every relationship can or should be restored to what it once was.

Romans 12:18 says:

ā€œIf it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.ā€

Notice:

ā€œIF IT BE POSSIBLE.ā€

And:

ā€œAS MUCH AS LIETH IN YOU.ā€

We are responsible for our own conduct.

We cannot control every other person's response.

Sometimes peace requires a difficult conversation.

Sometimes it requires an apology.

Sometimes it requires forgiveness.

Sometimes it requires a boundary.

And sometimes it requires walking away from an argument that isn't going anywhere.

BEING A PEACEMAKER DOESN'T MEAN BECOMING A DOORMAT.

It means allowing the wisdom and love of Jesus to guide our actions.

šŸ‘£ 6. OUR FEET SHOULD TAKE US WHERE GOD WANTS US TO GO

Isaiah 52:7 says:

ā€œHow beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace...ā€

Isn't that a beautiful picture?

God calls beautiful the feet of those who bring good news.

Now, I don't think most of us spend much time admiring our feet! 😊

But God is showing us something important.

It isn't about the appearance of the messenger.

It's about the message being carried.

Friend, you may never stand behind a pulpit.

You may never teach a Sunday School class.

You may never preach to a large crowd.

But you can carry the Gospel into ordinary places.

Your workplace.

Your neighborhood.

Your home.

A hospital waiting room.

A grocery store.

A conversation with a hurting friend.

A small act of kindness.

A prayer with someone who needs encouragement.

YOUR FEET CAN TAKE THE LOVE OF JESUS INTO PLACES THAT MAY NEVER HAVE A PREACHER STANDING BEHIND A PULPIT.

šŸ“– 7. BE READY TO SHARE WHY YOU HAVE HOPE

Romans 10:14 asks:

ā€œ...and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?ā€

People need to hear the good news of Jesus Christ.

And sometimes we're hesitant because we think:

ā€œI don't know enough Scripture.ā€

ā€œWhat if they ask something I can't answer?ā€

ā€œWhat if I say the wrong thing?ā€

Friend, you don't have to know every answer to tell someone what Jesus has done for you.

You can share your testimony.

You can tell someone how God carried you through a difficult season.

You can explain why you trust Him.

You can share a verse that encouraged you.

You can invite someone to church.

You can offer to pray.

And when you don't know an answer, it's perfectly fine to say:

ā€œLET ME STUDY THAT, AND I'LL GET BACK TO YOU.ā€

Being prepared doesn't mean knowing everything.

It means being willing to learn, obey, and share the truth of Christ.

šŸ›”ļø 8. THE ENEMY WANTS TO STEAL OUR PEACE AND DISTRACT US FROM OUR PURPOSE

Remember what we learned during our first week.

Our battle is not against flesh and blood.

The enemy would love for Christians to become so distracted by arguments, offenses, fear, and division that we forget the message we're supposed to carry.

We can spend an entire day arguing about something that won't matter next week while missing an opportunity to encourage someone who desperately needs Jesus.

Now, truth matters.

We should never compromise God's Word simply to avoid disagreement.

But we need wisdom to recognize when we're defending truth and when we're simply defending our pride.

Ask yourself:

ā€œIS THIS CONVERSATION BRINGING GLORY TO GOD?ā€

ā€œAM I SPEAKING TRUTH IN LOVE?ā€

ā€œAM I TRYING TO HELP SOMEONE—or JUST WIN?ā€

Our mission is bigger than winning arguments.

WE ARE CALLED TO POINT PEOPLE TO JESUS.

🌻 9. LET YOUR WALK MATCH YOUR MESSAGE

This connects beautifully with Friday's lesson about integrity.

If we tell people Jesus gives peace, but we constantly stir up unnecessary conflict, our actions can weaken our testimony.

If we preach love but treat people cruelly, our words lose credibility.

If we tell others to trust God but refuse to seek Him ourselves, we miss the blessing of living what we believe.

We will not do this perfectly.

That's why we need grace.

But we should continually ask:

ā€œDOES MY WALK SUPPORT THE GOSPEL I'M SHARING?ā€

When we stumble, we repent.

When we hurt someone, we make it right where possible.

When we become distracted, we return our focus to Jesus.

And when God gives us an opportunity to share His love, we step forward.

šŸ’œ 10. YOU DON'T HAVE TO KNOW WHERE THE WHOLE ROAD LEADS

Sometimes God calls us to take a step without showing us the entire journey.

We want the whole plan.

Every answer.

Every detail.

Every possible outcome.

But walking by faith means trusting the One who leads us.

Psalm 119:105 says:

ā€œThy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.ā€

A lamp doesn't necessarily illuminate the entire road.

It gives us enough light for the next step.

Maybe today your next step is:

Forgiving someone.

Having a difficult conversation.

Sharing your testimony.

Inviting someone to church.

Apologizing.

Praying with a hurting friend.

Trusting God with something you cannot control.

Whatever it is—

PUT ON YOUR SHOES OF PEACE AND TAKE THE NEXT STEP WITH JESUS.

šŸ’œ TODAY'S REFLECTION QUESTIONS

  1. Am I experiencing the peace of Jesus, or am I carrying burdens He has invited me to surrender?

  2. Do I understand the Gospel well enough to explain the good news of Jesus Christ to someone?

  3. Am I allowing fear or worry to control my decisions?

  4. Do my words bring peace, or do they sometimes create unnecessary conflict?

  5. Is there a difficult conversation I need to approach with truth and love?

  6. Have I been trying to fix something that I need to place in God's hands?

  7. Does my everyday walk support the Christian testimony I share?

  8. Am I willing to tell someone what Jesus has done in my life?

  9. Where might God be calling me to carry His love today?

  10. What is one step of obedience I need to take, even though I cannot see the entire road ahead?

šŸ™ TODAY'S PRAYER

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for another beautiful Monday and another opportunity to walk with You.

Lord, today I want to put on the shoes of the Gospel of Peace.

Help me understand the wonderful gift of peace that comes through Jesus Christ.

Remind me that I do not have to carry every burden alone.

When worry begins taking over my thoughts, draw me back to Your promises.

When fear tries to control my decisions, strengthen my faith.

When someone hurts or disappoints me, help me respond with wisdom and love.

When a difficult conversation is necessary, help me speak truth without allowing pride or anger to lead me.

Father, prepare my feet for wherever You want me to go today.

If someone needs encouragement, help me notice.

If someone needs prayer, help me be willing.

If someone needs to hear about Jesus, give me courage to share.

Let my words and actions reflect the Gospel I believe.

And Lord, when I cannot see the entire road ahead, help me trust You with the next step.

Thank You for being my peace in every season.

In Jesus' precious name,

Amen.

🌟 TODAY'S ENCOURAGEMENT

Friend, I don't know what kind of week you're walking into.

Maybe you're facing a difficult situation at work.

Maybe you're waiting on medical answers.

Maybe you're concerned about someone you love.

Maybe your heart is heavy.

Maybe you're simply tired.

But I want to remind you of something.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO WALK INTO THIS WEEK ALONE.

Jesus is with you.

His Word will guide you.

His grace will sustain you.

And His peace can steady your heart even when the world around you feels uncertain.

You may not know what Wednesday will bring.

You may not know what Friday will look like.

You may not have the answers you're praying for yet.

But you can begin this Monday knowing:

THE ONE WHO HOLDS TOMORROW IS WALKING WITH ME TODAY.

🌻 CLOSING THOUGHT

I want to leave you with one final thought this morning.

We spend so much time preparing for the places we need to go.

We check the weather.

We choose our clothes.

We gather what we need.

We make sure we have our keys.

We grab our coffee.

And we head out the door.

But how often do we stop and ask:

ā€œLORD, AM I SPIRITUALLY PREPARED FOR TODAY?ā€

Am I prepared to show kindness?

Am I prepared to resist temptation?

Am I prepared to respond with patience?

Am I prepared to share the Gospel?

Am I prepared to trust God if something doesn't go according to my plans?

Friend, don't walk into this day spiritually barefoot.

PUT ON YOUR SHOES OF PEACE.

Take God's Word with you.

Carry His love.

Share His Gospel.

Trust His leading.

And wherever your feet take you today—

LET YOUR LIFE POINT SOMEBODY TOWARD JESUS.

šŸ“– TOMORROW — TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22

WEEK FOUR • GOSPEL OF PEACE

BE A PEACEMAKER

Bringing God's Peace Into a Divided World

Matthew 5:9 (KJV)

ā€œBlessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.ā€

Tomorrow we'll talk about the difference between being a peacemaker and simply avoiding conflict, how to speak truth with love, and how to carry the peace of Jesus into difficult relationships and conversations.

Until tomorrow:

Receive His peace.

Walk in His truth.

Carry His love.

Share His Gospel.

And trust Him with every step.

Have a beautifully blessed Monday! May God guide your feet, guard your heart, and fill your day with His wonderful peace. šŸ’œšŸ›”ļøšŸ‘£šŸ“–āœļø
