This is the kind of meal that feels grounding after a busy week — simple ingredients, gentle flavor, and deep comfort in every spoonful.

  • 1½ lbs pork shoulder or pork loin, cubed

  • 2 tbsp butter or bacon grease

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 4 medium potatoes, diced

  • 3 cups chopped green cabbage

  • 2 carrots, sliced

  • 4–5 cups chicken or pork broth

  • 1 tsp thyme

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • Salt to taste

  • Optional: splash of apple cider vinegar
