š„ Slow-Simmered Pork, Potato & Cabbage Camp Stew
A humble, hearty stew ā tender pork, soft potatoes, and sweet cabbage simmered low and slow.
Serves:Ā 6ā8Cook Time:Ā 1 hour
This is the kind of meal that feels grounding after a busy week ā simple ingredients, gentle flavor, and deep comfort in every spoonful.
š Ingredients
1½ lbs pork shoulder or pork loin, cubed
2 tbsp butter or bacon grease
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 medium potatoes, diced
3 cups chopped green cabbage
2 carrots, sliced
4ā5 cups chicken or pork broth
1 tsp thyme
½ tsp black pepper
Salt to taste
Optional: splash of apple cider vinegar
š³ Instructions
Brown the PorkHeat butter or bacon grease in a Dutch oven. Brown pork on all sides.
Build the BaseAdd onion and garlic; cook until fragrant.
Add Vegetables & BrothStir in potatoes, cabbage, carrots, broth, thyme, pepper, and salt.
Simmer SlowBring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat. Cover and simmer 45ā50 minutes, until pork is tender and vegetables are soft.
