💜 Agape Love Daily Grief Support Devotional Wednesday, September 30, 2026🍂 “As Another Month Ends, Remember How Far God Has Carried You”
🍂 “As Another Month Ends, Remember How Far God Has Carried You”
📖 Today's Scripture — KJV
“Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.”
— 1 Samuel 7:12
🌿 Good Morning, Sweet Friends!
As I sit here with my morning coffee, looking toward the last day of September, something is weighing on my heart.
Another month is coming to an end.
Tomorrow begins October. Before we know it, Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here, and another year will be drawing to a close.
For many people, turning the calendar is something simple. It's just another month, another season, another page.
But for someone walking through grief, sometimes turning that calendar page is difficult.
Because every new month is another month without someone we love.
Another month without hearing their voice.
Another month without their hugs.
Another month without seeing their smile.
Another month of wishing we could pick up the phone and call them.
And sometimes we find ourselves wondering:
“How has so much time passed when my heart still remembers everything as though it happened yesterday?”
Friend, if that's how you're feeling this morning, I want to remind you of something.
đź’ś You have made it through every difficult day that brought you to this morning.
Not because every day was easy.
Not because you never cried.
Not because you always felt strong.
But because God has continued carrying you, even on the days when you could barely take another step.
đź’ś Sometimes We Forget How Far We've Come
When we're grieving, it's easy to focus on how far we still have to go.
We think about the upcoming holidays.
The birthdays.
The anniversaries.
The family gatherings.
The empty chairs.
The milestones our loved ones won't be here to experience.
And before we know it, we're worrying about tomorrow instead of recognizing how God helped us through yesterday.
But think about this for a moment.
Remember those early days when you wondered how you would ever make it?
Remember when getting out of bed felt impossible?
Remember when you couldn't imagine laughing again?
Remember when you didn't know how you would survive another holiday or birthday?
And yet, here you are.
You may still have difficult days.
You may still cry.
You may still have questions.
But you are here.
And sometimes we need to stop looking at how far we have left to go and thank God for how far He has already brought us.
🌷 The Calendar Changes, but Love Doesn't
One of the things I've learned about grief is that time does not determine how much we love someone.
Whether your loss happened thirty days ago, three years ago, or thirty years ago, there can still be moments when your heart aches.
I lost my Momma many years ago, and there are still times when I wish I could sit down and talk with her.
And there are days when I think about my sweet Michael and all the things I wish I could share with him.
The years continue passing.
Life continues changing.
Children grow up.
Grandchildren are born.
Families celebrate new milestones.
And sometimes, in the middle of those beautiful moments, we find ourselves wishing someone special could be there.
That's the thing about love.
The calendar may tell us how long someone has been gone, but it cannot measure how deeply they are loved.
And I believe that's something we should never be ashamed of.
🕊️ God Has Been Faithful Through Every Season
I love today's Scripture:
“Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.”
In 1 Samuel 7, Samuel raised a stone of remembrance and called it Ebenezer, acknowledging how the Lord had helped His people.
What a beautiful lesson for us as we close another month.
Sometimes we need to look back, not to remain trapped in yesterday, but to remember God's faithfulness.
Think about the moments when you didn't know where your strength would come from.
And somehow, you found enough strength for that day.
Think about the nights when tears wouldn't stop.
And eventually, morning came.
Think about the times someone called at just the right moment.
Or a friend stopped by.
Or a Scripture spoke directly to your heart.
Or someone at church gave you a hug when you needed one most.
Those moments remind us that we have not been walking this journey alone.
The same God who helped you through September will be with you in October.
🍂 You Don't Have to Leave Your Loved One Behind When the Month Ends
Sometimes moving into another month or another year feels almost like we're moving farther away from the people we love.
But turning the calendar does not mean turning away from their memory.
You can enter October carrying the beautiful things they taught you.
You can make their favorite recipe.
Tell their stories.
Share their photographs.
Keep family traditions alive.
Talk about their faith.
Remember their laughter.
And teach the next generation about the people who helped shape your life.
You don't have to stop remembering in order to keep living.
Their chapter in your life mattered, and the love they gave can continue influencing the chapters still being written.
🌸 Give Yourself Permission to Begin a New Month
As we prepare to enter October, perhaps there are things you're already dreading.
Maybe a birthday is approaching.
Maybe an anniversary.
Maybe the holidays feel overwhelming.
Maybe you simply don't want another month to pass without someone you love.
Friend, you don't have to figure out the entire season today.
You don't have to decide how every holiday will look.
You don't have to make yourself feel excited about things that are difficult right now.
Just give yourself permission to take the next step.
God will meet you there.
And remember something important:
Beginning a new month does not mean you have to begin it without grief. It means you can bring your grief with you into God's loving care.
He understands.
He sees the tears.
He knows the memories.
And He will continue walking beside you.
đź’ś Don't Forget to Look for Today's Blessings
Before September ends, I want to encourage you to think about something.
Was there one moment this month when you smiled?
One person who encouraged you?
One prayer that brought peace?
One beautiful sunrise?
One conversation that reminded you that you are loved?
One unexpected blessing?
Sometimes grief makes it difficult to notice the good things happening around us.
But even during sorrow, God can still give us moments of beauty.
A grandchild's laughter.
A warm cup of coffee.
A peaceful afternoon.
A church service.
A phone call from a friend.
A beautiful fall morning.
Those blessings do not erase our grief.
But they remind us that life still holds moments worth treasuring.
We can miss yesterday while being thankful for the blessings of today.
🙏 Wednesday Morning Prayer
Heavenly Father,
As we come to the end of another month, I lift up every grieving heart.
Lord, You know the people we are missing today.
You know the names we still whisper in prayer.
You know the photographs we hold close, the memories we treasure, and the conversations we wish we could have one more time.
For some, September has been a difficult month.
For others, the thought of October and the approaching holidays brings sadness and worry.
Father, remind us that we do not have to carry tomorrow's burdens today.
Help us look back and recognize how faithfully You have carried us.
Thank You for the strength You gave us on days when we felt weak.
Thank You for the people who encouraged us.
Thank You for the moments of peace.
Thank You for the memories that still make us smile.
As we prepare to enter a new month, help us carry forward the love and lessons of those who have gone before us.
Give us courage to make new memories without feeling guilty.
Help us treasure the people who are still here.
And when grief feels overwhelming, remind us that we are never walking alone.
Thank You for Jesus.
Thank You for the promise of eternal life through Him.
And thank You that no matter how many times the calendar changes, Your love and faithfulness remain the same.
In Jesus' precious Name,
Amen.
🌻 Today's Grief Support Challenge
💜 Before September Ends…
Today, I want to encourage you to take a few quiet moments and reflect on three things.
đź’ś 1. REMEMBER
What is one beautiful memory of your loved one that brought you comfort this month?
Write it down. Treasure it. Share it if you feel comfortable.
🌷 2. RECOGNIZE
What is one difficult moment God helped you through during September?
Maybe you didn't handle it perfectly, but you made it through.
Thank Him for His faithfulness.
🕊️ 3. RELEASE
What is one worry about October that you need to place into God's hands?
Perhaps it's a birthday, anniversary, holiday, or simply facing another month without someone you love.
Pray:
“Lord, thank You for carrying me through September. I trust You to walk beside me through October.”
đź’ś Let's Remember Them Together
As September comes to a close, I'd love for us to fill the comments with beautiful memories.
Who is someone you wish you could share the changing seasons with?
Maybe it's your Momma.
Your Daddy.
Your husband or wife.
Your child.
Your sibling.
Your grandparent.
Or a dear friend.
Share their name and one thing you loved about them, if you feel comfortable.
Let's remind one another that our loved ones' stories are worth telling, no matter how much time has passed.
