Don’t Let Fear Talk You Out of What God Put in Your Heart

☀️ Good Monday Morning, Friends!

Happy Monday! 💜

A brand-new week is here.

New opportunities.

New conversations.

New decisions.

New chances to serve God and love people.

But sometimes, before we've even taken the first step, fear starts talking.

What if I fail?

What will people think?

What if I'm not good enough?

What if I'm too old to begin?

What if I'm too young?

What if I don't have enough money?

What if nobody supports me?

What if I make a mistake?

And before long, something God placed in our heart gets buried beneath a mountain of “what ifs.”

Today, I want to turn that question around.

What if God really did call you?

What if that idea wasn't an accident?

What if your testimony could help somebody?

What if the door you're afraid to walk through is part of the answer you've been praying for?

What if God isn't asking you to have everything figured out?

What if He's simply asking you to trust Him?

📖 Today’s Bible Reading

2 Timothy 1:6–9 (KJV)

Paul reminded Timothy:

“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee...”

And then:

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

I love that Paul tells Timothy to stir up the gift.

That means there was already something inside Timothy that God had placed there.

Maybe somebody reading this needs to stir something up again.

A dream you've stopped talking about.

A ministry you've been afraid to begin.

A book you've never finished.

A class you've been afraid to take.

A testimony you've been hesitant to share.

A gift you've allowed to sit unused.

Don't let fear bury what God gave you.

🌿 Discovering Your God-Given Calling

Courage Doesn’t Mean You Aren’t Afraid

Sometimes we imagine courageous people never experience fear.

But courage isn't the absence of fear.

Courage is deciding that obedience to God matters more than fear.

Think about Joshua.

God repeatedly told him:

“Be strong and of a good courage...”— Joshua 1:6 (KJV)

Why would God tell Joshua to be courageous if Joshua never felt afraid?

Joshua was stepping into enormous responsibility.

Moses was gone.

Israel needed a leader.

The Promised Land was ahead.

There were battles waiting.

Joshua had plenty of reasons to feel nervous.

But he had one reason greater than all of them:

God was going with him.

And friend, if God is leading you, you're not walking alone either.

💜 Stop Waiting for Everyone’s Approval

This one can be difficult.

Sometimes we're ready to obey God—until someone else doesn't understand.

Not everyone will understand your calling.

Not everyone will celebrate your dream.

Not everyone will recognize what God is doing in your life.

And that's okay.

You should seek wise counsel.

You should pray.

You should make sure what you're pursuing agrees with God's Word.

But ultimately, you cannot build your life around the approval of people.

“The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.”— Proverbs 29:25 (KJV)

People didn't give you your calling.

And people cannot fulfill it for you.

Yesterday we talked about being available instead of perfect.

Today we're taking the next step:

Once you say yes, don't let fear make you take it back.

Teach the Next Generation Courage

Our children and grandchildren are watching more than we realize.

They're watching how we handle disappointment.

They're watching whether we try again after failing.

They're watching whether we stand for our convictions when they're unpopular.

They're watching whether we pray when we're afraid.

What if one of the greatest things we could teach the next generation is this:

Being afraid doesn't mean you have to quit.

Tell them about the times you were nervous but kept going.

Tell them about the doors God opened.

Tell them about the prayers He answered.

Tell them about the failures you survived.

Tell them about the times God redirected you.

Let them know that faith isn't pretending life is easy.

Faith is knowing God is faithful even when life is hard.

“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee...”— Deuteronomy 31:6 (KJV)

August 24, 1932 — Amelia Earhart Began a Historic Transcontinental Flight

On August 24, 1932, aviator Amelia Earhart began a nonstop transcontinental flight from Los Angeles, reaching Newark, New Jersey, the following day and setting a record for women flying the route.

Her life became closely associated with aviation, determination, and pushing beyond barriers.

History is filled with people who were willing to attempt something difficult before they knew exactly how the story would turn out.

And there's a lesson in that for us.

You won't always know the outcome before taking the first step.

Sometimes you have to begin.

Now there's a Monday celebration I think plenty of us can get behind! 😊

National Waffle Day commemorates the anniversary of a U.S. patent related to the waffle iron.

Maybe breakfast—or breakfast for supper—is in order today!

🥧 National Peach Pie Day

August and fresh peaches just seem to belong together.

It's another reminder to enjoy life's simple blessings: good food, family around the table, laughter, and memories being made.

And here's an observance we can create for ourselves:

💜 “No Fear Monday!”

Today, let's refuse to allow fear to make our decisions for us.

🌻 Inspiration for Today

What Would You Do If Fear Wasn’t Making the Decision?

Think about that question.

Would you apply?

Would you write?

Would you start?

Would you speak?

Would you serve?

Would you go back to school?

Would you share your testimony?

Would you invite someone to church?

Would you finally take the first step toward something you've prayed about for years?

Now ask a more important question:

What is God asking me to do?

We shouldn't recklessly chase every impulse.

But when something agrees with Scripture, has been covered in prayer, and God continues placing it on your heart...

Don't automatically assume your fear means no.

Sometimes fear simply means:

This step requires faith.

🌸 Five Monday Reminders

💜 Fear does not get the final vote.

🙏 Pray before making decisions.

📖 Measure your direction against God's Word.

🌿 You don't have to feel completely ready to obey.

✨ If God leads you, He will walk with you.

🌻 Monday Challenge

Do One Thing You’ve Been Putting Off Because of Fear

Nothing reckless.

Nothing foolish.

Just one faithful step.

Make the phone call.

Write the first page.

Fill out the application.

Ask the question.

Research the opportunity.

Share the testimony.

Sign up for the class.

Begin the project.

Or simply pray:

“Lord, I'm scared, but I trust You more than I trust my fear.”

One step.

That's all today requires.

🙏 Today’s Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for bringing us into another week.

Thank You for the gifts, dreams, opportunities, and callings You place within our lives.

Lord, forgive us for the times we've allowed fear to become louder than faith.

When fear says we cannot, remind us that our strength comes from You.

When insecurity says we're not enough, remind us that Your grace is sufficient.

When people don't understand, give us wisdom to seek Your approval above all else.

When we fail, give us courage to learn and try again.

When You open a door, give us courage to walk through it.

And when You close one, give us faith to trust Your protection.

Today I pray for the person who feels afraid.

Give them peace.

For the one facing a major decision...

Give them wisdom.

For the one beginning something new...

Give them courage.

For the grieving...

Bring comfort.

For the sick...

Bring healing.

For those struggling financially...

Provide.

For families needing restoration...

Bring peace.

Protect our children and grandchildren.

Strengthen our churches.

Guide our leaders.

And help each of us discover the gifts You've placed within us and have the courage to use them for Your glory.

In Jesus' precious name,

Amen.

Yesterday our prayer was:

“Here am I; send me.”

“Lord, give me the courage to go.”

Because saying yes is only the beginning.

Eventually, faith has to take a step.

Maybe your knees shake.

Maybe your voice trembles.

Maybe you don't know what happens next.

That's okay.

Take God's hand.

Trust His Word.

And move when He says move.

Because the question isn't:

“Am I strong enough?”

The question is:

“Is the God who called me strong enough?”

And the answer is forever...

YES.
