✍️ Agape Love Publishing – Author Devotional Sunday, August 23Let God Fill You Before You Pour Onto the Page

Let God Fill You Before You Pour Onto the Page

Scripture

"My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him."Psalm 62:5 (KJV)

Good Sunday morning, authors! 💜📖

All week long, we have talked about writing, finishing, publishing, overcoming fear, and faithfully using the gifts God has given us.

But today is Sunday.

And before we ask, "What should I write next?" perhaps we need to ask:

"Lord, what do You want to speak into my heart?"

Authors spend a great deal of time pouring out.

We pour our thoughts onto pages.

We pour our experiences into testimonies.

We pour our imaginations into stories.

We pour our hearts into devotionals.

We pour encouragement into our readers.

But we cannot continually pour from an empty vessel.

Sometimes the writer needs to stop writing long enough to allow God to fill them again.

🌿 Before the Pen Comes the Presence

There is nothing wrong with having goals.

There is nothing wrong with deadlines.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to finish and publish your book.

But never become so busy writing about God that you forget to spend time with God.

Our writing should flow from our relationship with Him—not replace it.

Before the devotional comes prayer.

Before the Bible study comes studying His Word.

Before the testimony comes remembering His faithfulness.

Before the encouragement comes allowing God to encourage you.

Your greatest writing tool isn't your laptop.

It isn't your notebook.

It isn't your editing software.

It isn't even your imagination.

For the Christian author, one of our greatest resources is a heart that has spent time in the presence of God.

💜 It's Okay to Be Still

Sometimes writers feel guilty when they aren't producing.

We think:

I should be writing.

I should be editing.

I should be marketing.

I should be posting.

But Scripture says:

"Be still, and know that I am God..." — Psalm 46:10 (KJV)

There are moments when being still isn't procrastination.

It's preparation.

God may use the quiet season to restore your creativity.

He may give you clarity about a manuscript.

He may redirect a project.

He may remind you why you started writing in the first place.

Or He may simply want His child to sit with Him without trying to accomplish anything.

That's enough.

✍️ Your Calling Comes From Him

Books are wonderful.

Publishing is exciting.

Holding your finished book for the first time is an incredible accomplishment.

But none of those things should become greater than the One who gave you the ability to write.

If God has called you to write, He knows how to guide that calling.

You don't have to force every opportunity.

You don't have to chase every door.

You don't have to compare your timeline with another author's.

Pray.

Listen.

Work faithfully.

And trust God with the timing.

🙏 Sunday Author Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gift of another Sunday and another opportunity to sit quietly in Your presence.

Thank You for every author, aspiring author, storyteller, teacher, and dreamer in this community.

Today, fill the hearts that have been pouring out all week.

Refresh tired minds.

Encourage discouraged writers.

Give direction to those who feel uncertain.

Restore joy to those whose writing has begun to feel like another obligation.

Help us remember that before we are authors, publishers, or creators, we are Yours.

May the words we eventually place on the page come from hearts that have first spent time with You.

In Jesus' precious name,

Amen.

🌸 Today's Author Challenge

Today, I'm giving you permission to put down the pen for a little while.

Spend 30 minutes with God.

📖 Read your Bible.

🙏 Pray.

🎶 Worship.

☕ Sit quietly.

📝 Keep a journal nearby only if God places something on your heart.

Don't worry about word counts.

Don't worry about sales.

Don't worry about social media.

Don't worry about finishing the chapter.

Let God fill the author before the author fills another page.

💜 Sunday Authors Hub Fellowship

Today, instead of only sharing our books, let's share some encouragement.

What Scripture has helped you most in your writing, publishing, or personal journey?

Post it in the comments.

And published authors, you're still welcome to share your book links and tell us what God has placed on your heart to write.

Aspiring authors, tell us about your book idea too!

Whether you're holding your tenth published book or haven't written your first sentence yet, there is a place for you here.

Let's pray for one another, learn from one another, and support the gifts God has placed within each of us.

🌿 Today's Encouragement

"Before asking God to give you words for your readers, allow Him to speak words to your own heart."

Rest today.

Listen today.

Worship today.

Let God refill what the week has emptied.

The manuscript will still be there tomorrow.

And perhaps when you pick up the pen again, you'll discover that the quiet time wasn't keeping you from writing.

It was preparing you for what comes next.

Have a peaceful and blessed Sunday! 💜📖✍️
