A New Month. A New Page. Pick Up the Pen!

📖 Today's Scripture — KJV

"Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?"— Isaiah 43:19

Good Thursday morning and Happy October, authors, writers, and future authors! ☕🍂📖

There's something I love about turning the calendar to a brand-new month.

It feels a little like opening a fresh notebook.

The pages are clean.

Nothing has been written yet.

There are possibilities ahead of us.

And this morning, I want to remind you:

You don't have to know how the whole chapter will turn out before you're willing to begin writing it.

Yesterday, we closed September by talking about turning the page.

Today...

WE WRITE ON THE NEW ONE.

🍂 What Will You Write on October's Pages?

Maybe September was a wonderful month for your writing.

Maybe it wasn't.

Maybe you finished a manuscript.

Maybe you barely touched yours.

Maybe you published.

Maybe you procrastinated.

Maybe you were inspired.

Maybe you struggled to write a single paragraph.

But here's the wonderful thing about a new day:

Yesterday doesn't get to decide what you do today.

October is here.

You have another opportunity.

Another page.

Another chance to pray, learn, create, and grow.

Don't waste the first days of a new month beating yourself up over the last one.

Take the lessons with you.

Leave the guilt behind.

Then pick up the pen.

💜 Stop Waiting for January to Begin Again

Have you ever noticed how we sometimes treat January like it's the only month we're allowed to start over?

We say:

“Next year I'm going to...”

Why wait?

You don't need January 1st to make a change.

October 1st works just fine! 😊

Maybe you've been saying:

"Someday I'll write my book."

Let October be the month you write Chapter One.

Maybe your manuscript has been sitting untouched.

Open it.

Maybe you've been afraid to ask someone about publishing.

Ask.

Maybe your book has already been published, but you've stopped talking about it.

Introduce it to some new readers.

Maybe you've learned something that could help another author.

Share it.

A new beginning doesn't require a new year.

Sometimes it simply requires a new decision.

✍️ Don't Try to Write All of October Today

When we become excited about a fresh start, we sometimes make huge plans.

“I'm going to write 5,000 words every day!”

“I'm going to finish three books!”

“I'm going to post on social media six times a day!”

Then October 4th arrives and we're exhausted. 😂

Let's do something different.

Choose a goal you can actually work toward consistently.

Maybe you'll write:

300 words a day.

That doesn't sound enormous.

But 300 words a day for 31 days is 9,300 words.

Small steps matter.

You don't have to accomplish everything today.

Just be faithful with today's page.

Tomorrow will have a page of its own.

🌿 God Can Do Something New With an Old Dream

Maybe your writing dream isn't new at all.

Maybe you've wanted to write a book for ten years.

Twenty years.

Perhaps you've started several times and stopped.

Maybe you once believed becoming an author was something you'd do "someday."

Friend, an old dream can still have a new beginning.

You may know more now than you did years ago.

You've lived more life.

You've learned lessons.

You've experienced joy and heartache.

Your faith has grown.

Your perspective has changed.

Maybe the waiting years weren't empty years.

Maybe some of what you've lived will help you write the story differently today.

Don't assume you've missed your opportunity simply because you're starting later than you planned.

If God is still placing the desire on your heart, pray about it.

Then ask:

“Lord, what should I do with it now?”

📖 Your October Doesn't Have to Look Like Another Author's

As we begin this month, let's make a promise to ourselves:

We will celebrate other authors without using their accomplishments to criticize our own journey.

Someone may publish this month.

Celebrate them.

Someone may announce a new book.

Encourage them.

Someone may sell more copies than you.

Be happy for them.

Someone may finish their manuscript while you're still working through Chapter Four.

Cheer them on.

Their progress isn't stealing yours.

Another writer's blessing doesn't mean God has forgotten you.

There is room for many voices.

Many stories.

Many books.

Many testimonies.

Many authors.

That's one reason I want our Authors Hub to be different.

I don't want this to be a place where everyone simply drops a book link and disappears.

I want us to learn from one another.

Support one another.

Answer questions.

Share resources.

Celebrate victories.

And encourage someone when the writing gets hard.

🙏 October 1st Author Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for bringing us into a brand-new month.

Thank You for the fresh opportunities October brings.

Today, we give You our writing, our ideas, our manuscripts, our published books, and even the stories we haven't had the courage to begin.

Guide us.

Help us set wise goals.

Give us discipline without allowing our goals to become burdens.

Give us creativity when the words don't come easily.

Give us humility to learn.

Give us courage to ask for help.

Protect us from comparison.

Help us genuinely celebrate the accomplishments of other writers.

For the author who almost gave up in September, give them strength to begin again.

For the future author who has never written the first sentence, give them courage to start.

For the published author who feels discouraged, remind them why they began.

And Lord, if there is something new You want to do through our words this month, help us recognize it.

May our stories encourage, teach, inspire, comfort, bring wholesome joy, and point hearts toward hope.

Most importantly, may everything we do bring honor and glory to You.

In Jesus' precious name,

💻 Prepare my manuscript for publication.

📣 Introduce my published book to new readers.

❤️ Support more independent authors.

🙏 Pray over my writing before I begin each day.

Now write this somewhere you'll see it:

Then underneath it write:

And before today ends...

Open the notebook.

Create the document.

Write the sentence.

Ask the question.

Take the step.

And trust God with everything you cannot yet see.

Because maybe October won't simply be another month on the calendar.

Maybe this will be the month you finally begin the story you've been carrying in your heart. 💜🍂📖✍️
