💜 When the Words Don't Come — Keep Showing Up

📖 Today's Scripture — KJV

"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."— Galatians 6:9

Good Tuesday morning, authors, writers, and future authors! ☕📖✍️

Yesterday we talked about putting away the word “someday” and finally beginning.

But today I want to talk about what happens after we begin.

Because starting can be exciting.

You have a brand-new idea.

You buy the notebook.

You open a fresh document.

You can already imagine the cover.

Maybe you've even pictured yourself holding that finished book in your hands.

Then...

You reach Chapter Four.

The excitement isn't quite as strong.

You stare at the screen.

The words won't come.

You begin wondering:

“Was this really a good idea?”

Friend, welcome to writing. 😊

Not every writing day will feel inspired.

Sometimes the most important thing you can do is simply keep showing up.

🌿 Inspiration May Start the Book — Discipline Helps Finish It

There will be days when the words flow so quickly you can barely type fast enough.

Enjoy those days!

But there will also be days when writing feels like work.

That's okay too.

Sometimes we think that because something is difficult, we must be doing the wrong thing.

Not necessarily.

Writing a book takes commitment.

There are chapters to write.

Facts to research.

Characters to develop.

Pages to edit.

Mistakes to correct.

And sentences you may rewrite more times than you'd ever admit. 😂

Difficulty doesn't automatically mean stop.

Sometimes it simply means:

Keep working.

💜 Don't Mistake a Difficult Chapter for the End of the Story

Maybe you're stuck right now.

Your manuscript hasn't moved in weeks.

You don't know what happens next.

Before you throw everything away, ask yourself:

Why am I stuck?

Maybe the story needs a different direction.

Maybe you need more research.

Maybe you're tired and need rest.

Maybe you're trying to force a chapter that doesn't belong.

Maybe fear has returned.

Or maybe you're expecting yourself to write perfectly.

Identify the problem before deciding the dream is over.

Sometimes you don't need to quit the book. You simply need to change how you're approaching the next page.

✍️ Write Something — Even If It Isn't the Next Chapter

Here's a little trick for the writer who feels stuck:

You don't always have to write the book in order.

If Chapter Six isn't coming...

Write the scene you've been imagining for Chapter Ten.

Write the ending.

Write a conversation between two characters.

Write the dedication.

Write down everything you know about the main character.

For nonfiction, write the section you're most passionate about.

Keep your creativity moving.

Sometimes writing somewhere else helps us discover what was missing.

🌸 Don't Delete the Dream Because You Had a Bad Writing Day

Please remember this.

One difficult writing day doesn't make you a bad writer.

One chapter needing major edits doesn't make you a bad writer.

One negative review doesn't make you a bad writer.

One book that doesn't sell the way you hoped doesn't mean you should never write another.

We have to stop turning temporary disappointments into permanent decisions.

Pray.

Learn.

Rest if you need to.

Then come back.

💜 Sometimes God Is Building Perseverance Behind the Pages

We often pray:

“Lord, help me finish this book.”

And perhaps part of His answer is teaching us how to persevere.

How to remain faithful when something isn't exciting anymore.

How to work when nobody is applauding.

How to keep going when the results aren't immediate.

Galatians 6:9 tells us not to become weary in well doing.

That verse isn't a promise that every manuscript will become a bestseller.

But it reminds us of the importance of faithfulness and perseverance.

Don't measure the value of today's work only by today's results.

Seeds take time.

So do books.

So do writers.

🙏 Tuesday Author Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for another day and another opportunity to use the gifts You have given us.

Today I pray especially for the writer who feels stuck.

For the author who opened their manuscript and couldn't find the words.

For the person who began with excitement but now feels tired.

For the writer who is questioning whether they should continue.

Lord, give us wisdom.

If we need to change direction, show us.

If we need to rest, give us peace to rest.

If we need to learn something, lead us toward the right resources.

And if we simply need to persevere, give us strength to keep going.

Protect us from making permanent decisions during temporary moments of discouragement.

Help us become disciplined without becoming consumed.

Remind us that our worth isn't determined by our productivity.

And when the words return, help us use them wisely.

May our writing encourage, teach, inspire, comfort, entertain, and bring hope.

Above all, may we honor You through the gifts You've entrusted to us.

In Jesus' precious name,

Amen.

✍️ TODAY'S AUTHOR CHALLENGE

SHOW UP FOR 20 MINUTES

Today, we're not trying to finish the book.

We're simply showing up.

Set a timer for 20 minutes.

Put away the phone.

Close social media.

Say a prayer.

Open your manuscript.

Then work.

You can:

✍️ Write.

📝 Edit.

📖 Outline.

🔎 Research.

💡 Brainstorm.

But give your writing 20 focused minutes.

When you're finished, write:

“I showed up today.”

Because some days, that is the victory.

💜 TUESDAY AUTHORS HUB — WHERE ARE YOU STUCK?

Today let's use this community to actually help one another.

📚 PUBLISHED AUTHORS

Share your book links, but also tell us:

What was the hardest part of finishing your first book?

How did you get through it?

Your experience may help someone who is struggling today.

✍️ CURRENT WRITERS

Tell us:

Where are you stuck?

Beginning?

Middle?

Ending?

Editing?

Formatting?

Publishing?

Marketing?

Ask your question.

Someone here may have already walked through it.

💡 FUTURE AUTHORS

Have you started your book yet?

If not, what's holding you back?

Don't be embarrassed to say:

“I don't know what to do next.”

That's exactly why we're building this community.

❤️ EVERYONE

Before leaving, find one writer and tell them:

KEEP GOING!

If you know the answer to their question, help them.

If their book sounds interesting, visit their link.

If they're discouraged, remind them how far they've already come.

Let's become the kind of authors who don't just promote ourselves.

Let's reach back and help somebody else climb.

🌷 TODAY'S ENCOURAGEMENT

“You don't have to feel inspired every day to remain faithful to the story God placed in your heart.”

Some days you'll write pages.

Some days you'll write paragraphs.

Some days you'll stare at the screen and wonder where all your words went. 😊

Keep learning.

Keep praying.

Keep showing up.

Because books aren't only written on the days when inspiration is overflowing.

They're also written on ordinary Tuesdays when somebody makes a cup of coffee, opens the manuscript, and says:

“Lord, help me write the next sentence.”

Yesterday you started.

Today...

KEEP GOING. 💜📖✍️
