Don't Quit in the Middle of the Chapter

Scripture

"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."— Galatians 6:9 (KJV)

Good Wednesday morning, authors! 💜📖

Have you ever noticed how exciting it is to begin a new book?

The idea is fresh.

The characters are alive in your imagination.

The title sounds perfect.

You can almost picture yourself holding the finished book in your hands.

Then comes...

the middle.

The excitement settles down. Life gets busy. The words don't come as easily. Suddenly you're questioning the story you were once so excited to write.

And that little voice whispers:

"Maybe I should just quit."

Dear author, don't quit in the middle of the chapter.

Not in your manuscript.

And not in the story God is writing with your life.

🌿 The Middle Still Matters

We love beginnings because they're filled with possibility.

We love endings because they bring accomplishment.

But the middle is where perseverance is developed.

It's where you learn discipline.

It's where you rewrite the chapter that didn't work.

It's where you delete 500 words and begin again.

It's where you keep showing up even when nobody is applauding.

And sometimes the middle is exactly where God teaches us the lessons we'll need when the opportunity we've been praying for finally arrives.

Don't despise the middle.

God is working there too.

💜 You Don't Need Motivation Every Day

One of the greatest lessons an author can learn is this:

You won't always feel like writing.

If we only write when inspiration arrives, many books will remain unfinished.

Some days you'll write 2,000 words.

Other days you'll struggle through 200.

And there may be days when all you accomplish is correcting one paragraph.

That's okay.

Faithfulness isn't doing everything today.

Faithfulness is continuing to do the next thing God has placed before you.

A little progress repeated consistently becomes something beautiful.

✍️ Remember Why You Started

When you feel like quitting, go back to the beginning.

Why did you start writing this book?

Was there a testimony you needed to share?

A story you couldn't stop thinking about?

A message God placed on your heart?

A lesson you wanted to leave for future generations?

A desire to help someone else?

Write your why somewhere you can see it.

Because when motivation disappears, purpose can remind you why you need to keep going.

🌸 An Unfinished Book Can't Reach Its Reader

Think about that for a moment.

Somewhere there may be someone who needs the words you're struggling to finish.

Your testimony can't encourage them if it stays hidden in your notebook.

Your story can't inspire them if it remains unfinished on your computer.

Your devotional can't strengthen them if fear keeps you from sharing it.

You don't have to rush.

You don't have to become overwhelmed.

But you do need to keep moving.

One page.

One paragraph.

One faithful step at a time.

🙏 Wednesday Author Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for every writer You have placed in this community.

Today I especially pray for the author who feels tired, discouraged, stuck, or ready to give up.

Remind them why You placed the story upon their heart.

Give them fresh strength for the middle of the journey.

Help us understand that slow progress is still progress and that faithfulness matters more than speed.

Give us wisdom to know when something needs revising, courage to make difficult changes, and perseverance to finish what You have called us to do.

May our words encourage others, share hope, reflect truth, and bring glory to You.

In Jesus' precious name,

Amen.

✍️ Today's Author Challenge

Today we're going back to an unfinished project.

Open the manuscript.

Find the place where you stopped.

And give it 30 minutes.

Don't worry about finishing the book.

Just work on what's directly in front of you.

📖 Finish a paragraph.

✍️ Write another page.

📝 Edit a section.

💡 Outline the next chapter.

🙏 Pray over the direction of your story.

And when you're finished, write these words somewhere:

"I didn't quit today."

Sometimes that's the victory.
