Patience When the Waiting Is Hard
October Theme: The Fruit of the Spirit
š TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
āBut the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsufferingā¦ā ā Galatians 5:22 (KJV)
ā Good morning & Happy Monday, Bible Study Family!Ā š
God is so, so good!
Last week, we studied Love, Joy, and Peace. Today, we move to the next Fruit of the Spirit:
šæ LONGSUFFERING.
Now, this is one that can really step on our toes!
Have you ever prayed, āLord, please give me patience,āĀ and then found yourself in a situation that tested every bit of patience you thought you had? š
Maybe you're waiting for an answer to prayer.
Waiting for healing.
Waiting for a financial breakthrough.
Waiting for a relationship to improve.
Waiting for someone to change.
Or simply waiting for something to happen in God's timing instead of your own.
Friend, waiting can be hard!
But longsuffering is more than waiting.
It's learning to remain faithful, patient, and gracious even when things aren't happening as quickly as we would like.
š» GOD'S TIMING ISN'T ALWAYS OUR TIMING
Psalm 27:14 (KJV) says:
āWait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.ā
Sometimes we want God to answer immediately.
We want the door to open.
We want the problem solved.
We want the situation fixed.
And when nothing seems to change, we may begin to wonder whether God has heard us.
But friend, waiting does not mean God has forgotten you.
Sometimes there are things happening that we cannot see.
And sometimes we simply do not understand why an answer has not come.
We must be careful not to assume that every delay is God preparing something specific or that every prayer will be answered exactly as we desire.
But we can trust that God remains faithful even when the outcome is uncertain.
š PATIENCE IS ALSO ABOUT HOW WE TREAT PEOPLE
Longsuffering isn't only about waiting for circumstances to change.
It's also about how we respond when people test our patience.
When someone is difficult.
When somebody makes a mistake.
When plans change unexpectedly.
When things don't go our way.
Do we respond with kindness?
Or do we allow frustration to control our words?
Ephesians 4:2 (KJV) reminds us:
āWith all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;ā
Sometimes the greatest evidence of spiritual growth is learning to pause before we speak.
To show grace.
To listen.
To forgive.
And to remember how patient God has been with us.
Patience doesn't mean ignoring wrong behavior or having no boundaries. It means refusing to let frustration control our character.
šæ DON'T WASTE THE WAITING
There are seasons when we cannot change our circumstances.
But we can continue growing in our relationship with Jesus.
We can pray.
Study His Word.
Encourage others.
Serve where He has placed us.
And remain faithful with what is in front of us today.
Friend, don't put your entire life on hold while waiting for something to change.
God can still use your life right where you are.
And sometimes, while we're waiting for our circumstances to change, the Holy Spirit is helping our hearts grow stronger.
š TODAY'S PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for another beautiful Monday.
Lord, You know the things I'm waiting for and the prayers I've been praying.
Sometimes I become impatient.
Sometimes I grow discouraged when things don't happen according to my plans.
Forgive me for the times I allow frustration to control my attitude.
Help me trust You even when I don't understand Your timing.
Teach me to be patient with others.
Help me respond with kindness instead of anger, grace instead of irritation, and understanding instead of judgment.
Give me wisdom to know when to wait and when to take a faithful step forward.
And while I'm waiting, help me continue growing in You.
In Jesus' precious name,
Amen.Ā š
š» TODAY'S CHALLENGE
Ask yourself these three questions:
ā³ What am I waiting for right now?
ā¤ļø How has the waiting affected my attitude?
šæ What can I do today to remain faithful while I wait?
Then pray:
āLord, help me trust Your timing and grow in patience while I wait.ā
š¬ QUESTION FOR OUR BIBLE STUDY FAMILY:
What is one thing God has taught you during a season of waiting?
Share your encouragement in the comments. Someone may need to hear your testimony today! š
š TODAY'S REMINDER
Friend, patience doesn't always come easily.
Sometimes it requires prayer.
Sometimes it requires silence.
Sometimes it means taking a deep breath before responding.
And sometimes it means continuing to trust God when we don't have the answers.
But remember:
The same God who was faithful yesterday is faithful today.
You may not understand the waiting.
You may not know how everything will work out.
But you can keep walking with Jesus, one faithful step at a time.
šæ DON'T LET THE WAITING STEAL YOUR FAITH.
ā³ LET THE HOLY SPIRIT GROW YOUR PATIENCE.
Have a beautifully blessed Monday, Bible Study Family! šāļø
