Good morning! š¤ Todayās chuckwagon favorite is a rich, hearty, and slightly sweet skillet mealĀ thatās been a staple on the trail for generations.
This dish brings together tender pork, smoky beans, and a touch of sweetnessāsimple ingredients turned into something truly satisfying!
šš« Ingredients
1 lb pork (diced or shredded)
1 tablespoon oil or bacon grease
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cans (15 oz each) baked beans (do not drain)
¼ cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons BBQ sauce
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
Optional: pinch of chili flakes
š„ Chuckwagon Cooking Instructions
1ļøā£ Heat a large cast iron skillet or Dutch ovenĀ over medium heat.
2ļøā£ Add oil and cook pork until browned and tender.
3ļøā£ Stir in onion and garlic; cook until softened and fragrant.
4ļøā£ Add baked beans, brown sugar, BBQ sauce, vinegar, and seasonings.
5ļøā£ Stir everything together well.
6ļøā£ Reduce heat and let simmer for 20ā30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and rich.
